Exactly. There are the 2600 Founder editions, the 10,000+ VIP's, FIG and then your Best Buy/Gamestop/Amazon/Walmart pre-orders.

I pre-ordered a console in August directly from Intellivision website. My order number was #05121. So if the same kind of numbering system is used, you can add at least another 4121 pre-ordered console in North America. I wouldn't be surprised if there are already more than 30,000 pre-ordered console. In a way it's not a lot, but considering there was not a marketing campaign per se, I'd say the future looks kind of good for Intellivision.

It's not just my opinion. They obviously started at 1000 with their counter. The highest I saw on here was 1995.

There is the possibility that a few resellers also bought a few bundles.

Then why would they put all of them up on their site as stock?

Before they messed with that, they had plenty of stock left, and the sales were really slow.

I have a feeling the pre order count is much lower than it used to be. A lot of people cancelled their orders after so many delays. Even I am waiting to see how it goes before I put in an order again.

My guess is the current amount is probably 8,000 to 10,000 ish. However, if they start delivering consoles and it turns out OK, we'll see things turn around. 3 delays was a turning point. I saw a lot of people that cancelled their pre-orders unless they were on a special list like founders.

The above is why people have been turned off by the Amico community and the Intellivision folks. Everyone gets jumped on when they provide even a little criticism.

You are seriously dishonest here. Since the beginning, there are losers who constantly bitch about the Amico and who launch harassment campaigns against everyone who said something positive.

To every action, there is a reaction. So now, there are people who are really tired of these losers and who now don't accept these criticisms.

Yeah, those who pre-ordered wanted the console at one point. Some of those who have cancelled did because they didn't like what they saw, but many have done so because of the delays, and might still buy a console when they know they will actually get one.

Not dishonest. Fighting fire with fire is why I think the negativity has blossomed.  I think if they would have ignored the negativity and focused on the system and games, this negative community would have never formed.

Can you explain how you estimate the number of people who canceled their orders?

I don't know why I follow this system so much. I think it's because I really want reimagined Imagic games.

A lot of people were talking about how they finally cancelled after the 3rd delay. And it's fine and I totally get it. I cancelled after the first delay. Many people are in a wait and see mode like I am. I'm hopeful it comes out and is good. But there isn't really a need to pre-order at this point unless you have a founders. That would be worth keeping and holding onto.

Before the third delay, I didn't hear many people cancelling, but certainly many were not happy with the delays.

If people would have ignored the negativity, then the negativity would have continued. Basically, it's a lose-lose situation. And the cause of this lose-lose situation is the negative people. So please, put your blame on the correct people.

Yeah, de-escalating is bad. If you see a fire, pour gas on it. It was gonna burn anyway.

Hi,

For the folks feeling the need to come into this particular thread to taunt people and/or to call people liars, I think @cmart604 (among others) has kindly and respectfully pointed out on a number of occasions to please feel free to create other threads in the Amico area if you'd like.  There probably isn't a good reason to continue coming in here when you are fully aware of the topic and the goal here now.  This particular thread is to enjoy Amico (and other topics) in a fun and positive way.  I don't think it is asking too much for people to have one place to go in here away from the conspiracy theories, negativity and drama.  I think we would all appreciate it if you could respect everyone's simple wishes.

In regards to the newest "hot topic controversy" today, I'm going to simply point to these 2 responses and say they are accurate.

Right now they are only selling bundles.  So for example, if they only manufactured two thousand Brain Duel Rfid cards, they would sell out of bundles after two thousand while still having thousands of Missile Commands in the warehouse.

That makes sense.  Plus, they are selling 2 different bundles of 4.  If one bundle is selling faster then the other, then at some point they would no longer be able to produce an 8 pack bundle, even though they are technically not sold out.

But here's something else that I feel folks may not have thought of.

Why would people assume that we haven't dedicated a certain number of Limited Collectors Editions to retailers?  Or something else we might be planning or working on?  Our marketing department specifically used the term "allocated".

Anyway, just wanted to hopefully help clear that up.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Maybe because of the totals that were available in the online store?

Recognize these from way back, before covid. Covid (and Capacitive screens and other design maturation) has brought new realities…  Don’t think some people appreciate that fact and/or conveniently avoid this when they make their hit content.

When IE set their price for preorders/retail, they had already established the costs of components (via their BOM) and their manufacturing, shipping, distribution, etc. costs, after which they started taking pre-orders and retail orders; then Covid hit jacking up all of those costs and they are now boxed between their established pricing and unexpected higher costs.  This is not IE’s fault, it just happened to be bad timing (not that there is ever a good time for a global pandemic).

Yes.  To clarify, those were some of my first interviews I ever did and every one of those clips was taken before the system was 100% complete and of course... before COVID.

For anyone who gets AARP magazine (biggest distributed magazine in the United States with 40 million readers).

Make sure to check out page 33!

:D

Salma Hayek is on the cover.

As we get closer to launch, there will be a lot more attention with the AARP crowd.

AARP magazine comes out every two months.  There have been 5 so far this year.  Either myself or Amico has been mentioned in 3 of them.  Maybe more on the way?

Wouldn't That Be Something?

For months there have people asking (and in some cases demanding) that we send an Amico to a completely unbiased magazine or website reviewer that no one at Intellivision knows, etc.

Here is the first complete hands-on review from such a publication.

Eurogamer is one of the biggest in Europe for gaming.

This was published in German for now, so I'm giving you all the Google link to the English translation.

https://www-eurogamer-de.translate.goog/articles/intellivision-amico-wir-haben-die-nicht-ganz-so-klassische-gaming-konsole-exklusiv-ausprobiert?_x_tr_sl=de&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en-US&_x_tr_pto=nui

Also cool to note that there were 2 people who reviewed it... and they were both young women.

The headline byline reads:

Anyone who misses the Wii will make friends with the Amico.

We'll take that!

Let me know what you thought of the review and what your favorite parts or quotes were.

Thanks!

That's an interesting review. One thing I think maybe a blessing and a curse is the games being described as "too simple" games. I think these games could have some depth. Even though we haven't seen a ton of those yet, I don't think every game or the system is going to be extremely simple (like a generic pool game). But I think there may be some perception the games are too simple.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like some of the games will have some depth. And instead of being labeled as extremely simple games. I rather have the perception that it is arcade style games.

I guess it depends on the community that is looking at it. For the super old or super young community, extreme simplicity is good.

but for the retro community I'd want to give off a vibe of bringing back arcade style hits which have some depth, more depth then the original ones.

A fine line to walk I guess. But I think it would do better if it was more focused on arcade style and party games.
