@Tommy Tallarico are you still hoping to demo the machine in the UK before launch?

That is definitely the current plan.

Hopefully travel restrictions won't get in the way.

Nothing confirmed yet, focusing everything on the launch right now.

This is another reason sending demo units to reviewers would be a good move.  FedEx can get your demo unit into the right hands without having to worry about travel restrictions.

Correct.  This is our Auto Racing prototype.

Still around... just on hold for now while we focus all of our energy on the launch.

Cool, really looking forward to this one, thanks for getting back to me. 👍😀

At some point... I would think so.

Yeah, I don't believe there is any reason for it not to work in Scandinavia.  But more of a question for our hardware and cloud folks.

I'll ask and get back to you.

Thanks for the kind words and support.

Thank you so much! 🙂

🙄...

There must be something, anything more productive you can do with your time. Come on now, I'm rooting for you. Why not go rake those leaves in the yard or clean out that junk drawer you've been meaning to get to.

Tommy has referred to not only production but shipping woes out of China so I though this article was appropriate to mention:

“A record-breaking 44 container ships are stuck off the coast of California”

The article explains due to lack of available port facilities to offload them. So even if you can make it, you have to wait and pay more to get it to the US.

https://ca.news.yahoo.com/record-breaking-44-container-ships-145905612.html?soc_src=social-sh&soc_trk=ma

Also just a aside the Halloween decorating community is noticing a lot more limited stock and fewer new decorations this year due to electronics and plastic shortages. Holiday lighting is reporting long delays & much higher rates of defective parts coming out of China for the special strings of LEDs they use.

Whoa... thank God I still use my incandescent Flower light strands from back in the 80s.  They still sell the bulbs and they're super easy to fix.  China's not gonna screw-up my Retro Xmas tree anytime soon!!

The recent Italian GamePro magazine feature on Amico was so well received that they decided to do an English version as well.

Here it is in English for those interested.

Great coverage!

Note:  This interview was done last month and we still hadn't known whether 10/10 was doable or not.

The realities of overseas fabrication are well-documented.  If your project manager couldn't tell you in early July that a 10/10 date was impossible, then they're not doing their job.

How did you come to that conclusion?

They have more info than you.  Like time to manufacture.  Time to ship etc.  They actually knew the drop dead date.  YOU did not.

As I said, the realities of overseas electronics fabrication are well understood.  July 1 through October 10 is too small a window to expect full production, shipping, and distribution.  That's assuming the Amico team had its software ready to go, and as per Fundable, they do not.

The Amico Team did know this, I agree with you on that.  The project management has a lot to answer for.

My understanding is that they had manufacturing scheduled.  Assuming they have parts supply, that manufacturer has production capacity to produce thousands of Amicos per day.  They can fill a shipping container within a few days.  My understanding is that in normal times shipping might take one month.  If the founders editions got delayed by shipping they would have arrived eventually.  Whether they were prepared to ship the first version of Cornhole might not be known, but delaying production for the updated version wouldn't prevent Amicos from shipping before the holidays by itself.

You can't go into production with an OS that is 10% incomplete.  That's not even taking into account your timetable, which I'm going to call "generous".

Who says they didn't have a version of the operating system they were prepared to ship.  Their announcement said changes in the OS are for future game development.  Sounds like current game development is fine without the changes.

Fundable says that.

90% complete is not shippable.

The scope of the operating system could have been changed once they made the decision not to go with the scheduled manufacturing.  It doesn't mean they didn't have a version they were prepared to ship

Yes, it does.

All operating systems are open to revision.  That's understood.  It's not even part of the conversation.  If the Amico project had a shippable OS, they would have said on Fundable that their OS was 100% done, and a new release was pending.

They didn't do that.  The OS is not done.  It was never done.  The only question is, at what point did they hit the 90% mark, and even that is of little relevance in the grand scheme of things.

Saying it's 100% done while they are working on the new version wouldn't be accurate.  Same thing applies to the pack-in games.  Previous versions might have been done but the project scope has been changed.

If it's shippable, it's 100% done.  The next revision might not be, but one always has the option to not release the next revision if the current one is shippable.

As I said before, it's understood that OS and applications are under constant revision.  No one should be confused by this.

Wow, you are a clown.  I have worked in hardware (firmware) and software development for the past 31 years.

I don't think a single product EVER shipped 100% complete.

Viable, yes.  Would not crash or fail in some unexpected way?  Most of the time.  As it was desired by the team.  Hardly ever.

But, that is what patching is for!  Just make certain that the updates to software and firmware work 100%.  Everything else can be fixed after the fact.

Manufacturing began well before final firmware 100% of the time.

And this isn't some little company.  5 billion in annual sales.  So...  Once again.  You are a know it all.  Know nothing at all.

When is that last time you purchased a smart tv?  a smart phone? etc.

Can you imagine if manufacturing didn't begin until all of the software was complete.

You would still be using a land line and a tube tv.   Get a clue.

The post of mine you quoted indicates I understand this.
