Is promoting your own content allowed here? I've been taking notes and want to release a short video within the next week or so giving my perspective and thoughts on the Amico as I feel like I could add something to the conversation as someone who is new to the Amico and grew up in a generation after the intellivision.

No worries, just create the content and Intellivision Master will drop the link here 😆

Yes, I would think so, but I would start my own thread.

Edit: I see that several have posted before me so I will add this. Intellivision Master typically posts links to content that is hosted elsewhere to let us know these videos exist. But if you are hoping to open a discussion, linking into a new thread might work better.

My boxes came in while I was a away last week.  Just got around to checking them out.  They're fantastic!  I really like the quality and look complete throwback to a time long gone for some of the titles.  I took some pics next to other game systems boxes, a DVD case and a Blue ray case... in case people cry about how small they are. They're small, but not crazy tiny.  I also like that it's not a total waste of plastic and materials like the Switch cases are.  All that plastic to house a piece of paper and an SD card the size of a .50 piece.  Nuts.

The ONLY complaint I have is the size of the verbage on the back....wtf.... You need a microscope to read it (or at least I do, I can't see shit anymore).

Nice work by Intellivision Entertainment.  Did I mention I really like the throwback look.  I didn't open any as I felt I wanted them wrapped and I already know what's there.

Awesome!!

Glad you like them!

Came in to copy & paste those FAQ questions you all have been asking and see 4 more pages worth of posting.  I'm hoping there is at least one or two @CurlyQ pics in here.

Ooh ooh just thought about this what if they made usb accessories for Amico like keyboards or steering wheels

Yeah!  We are hoping to do some things in the future and have a few things on the drawing board.  At least 2 - 3 years away though.

Future hardware accessories are the main reason we have the USB-C in the back of Amico.

:)

Yes, you can do things bluetooth as well, but having the ability to hardwire something is always a good option to have as well.

Speaking of that OLD SCHOOL feeling. I sure hope the reset button on the Amico is as 'robust' (ahem) as the original Intellivision.

Gotta tell ya, when a game would not go my way early on in a game..... i would not press that button...oh no...my pubescent angst required me to SMACK that button as if it owed me money!

Heck the main reason i have a full sized upright arcade cabinet in my man cave now is so when i lose a man i can hit the side of the wooden cabinet! From my perspective, its part of the gaming experience!

Our button definitely passes the SMACK test!

Did you forget that it was meant to work like this: tap once, system downloads game and you don't have to be online again.

Of course, this is Intellivision. Nothing is certain, things changes all the time.

Nothing changed.

We've had a ton of different "scenarios" thrown around... we're trying to answer them as they come.  Putting that kind of information in a simple release video would have only caused more confusion (like everyone misinterpreting the NFT stuff).  But definitely something that will be perfect for our updated FAQ.

Speaking of that... more misinformation is being put out there saying we haven't updated our FAQ in over a year, etc.  Completely not true.  We typically update and add to it every few months.  Now that we've revealed a lot more things... we are doing a bigger update.

I would say that if you hate the idea of tapping the card each time you want to play a game (which is even quicker than putting in a cartridge), then you still have 2 simple and easy options.  Just buy the digital version (at half the price) or... just don't disconnect Amico from Wi-Fi.  I set up my PS4, PS5, Switch and XBOX one time to the internet on the first day I got them.  Never thought about it since.  And the good news is that our updates aren't 20 - 60 minutes long and/or take up a ton of space or precious data (for those not on unlimited plans).

A question for TT: when I bring my controller to friends house to play Amico games, do I need to carry cards with me, just in case the system asks for it?

Good question.

No.

How often? Once a month? Everytime I change a game?

Are you saying that I should just stick to digital only if I don't want to tap card "more often". Is that what you are telling me

Yes.  If you don't want to keep your Amico online AND you don't want to tap the RFID, then you should stick to digital.

If your Amico is offline then you'll need to do it every time.  If it's online, you'll only ever need to tap it the very first time.

Keeping your Amico online also gives you access to leaderboards, new games, updates, etc.

I’m confused.  I thought the blowback was that the physical product was not physical enough.  Is it now that it not digital enough?

I also thought the saying was that you can’t make everyone happy, but I think its more that there are just some people that cannot be made happy.

Don’t want to tap a card each time you play a game?  Keep the system online.  If you don’t want to keep it on line, buy the digital version instead.  Still really want the box version though, buy both (the prices are reasonable enough).

They are providing choices, more than some other systems.

And did someone really complain the boxes don’t stay closed?  If you are not happy with the the boxed editions, stick with digital and be happy for the money you save.  OMG, think about that for a sec, really.

Next there will be outcry that the power cords are not color matched to the consoles, geez.

Welcome to my world.

Yes!  Everyone may do that.

Good questions.  The conversation around blockchains and environmental impact is really dated.  Newcomers in the blockchain sector have transitioned away from a Proof of Work model (requiring so many computers to perform elaborate computations that single computers can't effectively do - "mining" NFTs to create legitimacy) to what is termed a Proof of Stake model - putting up collateral or a percentage stake of what's created (which they'd lose if foul-play was discovered - aside from criminal prosecution.  Easier with the creation process being audited by a network).  So, no-more energy intensive than turning on that iPhone.  Much of journalism gravitated to the early headlines about the massive energy use needed to create these crypto "coins", but most of the largest producers, including Etherium, are moving to the environmentally friendly model.

Always great when @RetroAdvisoryBoard stops by to drop facts.

Thanks RAB, good to hear; not only for IE’s products/perspective but also for NFT’s in general (and the planet as well).

Given the media’s lack of followup on the environmental impacts, think IE should definitely include some info on this, as I’m sure I’m not the only one with outdated information.

For sure!

Hey everyone, I'm new here to the world of Amico. I see someone posted a video above and that seems like a good channel, where are some other places to get positive coverage of the system? I'm not sure if the console is for me yet, but I am definitely interested in following this system and seeing what kind of games will come out and how the controller will be used. I have the Amico app. A lot of YouTube people are not very kind to say the least. I lurked here a bit and I'm looking forward to getting more information especially about Earthworm Jim and other games, and hopefully the console comes out soon because I'd like to see it in action before making my decision.

😀

Yo!,

Thanks for stopping by and joining the fun!

Can you see it now?  Me going to the CEO of Samsung and telling him that I don’t like their OS on their TV’s and that I’m upset because they wont be getting my money?

And then when he gives you an answer as to why the OS is the way it is....   you call him a liar and tell him he can't take criticism!!

I hope Tommy will stop doing interviews with unknown YouTube shows and start interviewing families and organizations  which are very much the target audience for Amico such as CBN and/or Parenting today Magazine etc.

The unknown toby guy he did interview with today wouldn't know how to interview a Monkey and had a whopping total of 8 people watching him.

Which interview?  From today?

I did an interview with Slopes Game Room (his name is Dan), but he has about 150K subscribers on his YouTube channel.

I did it at 5:30am my time (he's in the UK) and the live version I believe was only for his Patreon's.  He'll be uploading and editing the interview for the general public sometime over the next few weeks in 2 parts.  First part was focused on my career but that last 2 hours were answering questions about Amico.

I believe there was some good info in there and a lot of misinformation put to rest.  But for most of the folks in here, they're probably already aware of most of the answers.

:)

I typically don't venture into any of the "other" threads, so if you'd like feedback or my thoughts (or have questions), feel free to ask here or leave the video here.

Are there any plans for further product releases or bundles prior to launch.  I loved buying the 8 game bundle and would def get more.

Not at this time.

But there will definitely be more Boxed Editions of games after launch.  Also, after launch, they will be sold individually as well.
