I've never heard of this sealion term until you brought it up with that comic you posted earlier, which I did find hilarious. Regardless. my intention was not to engage in any form of trolling.  I'm just very passionate with my opinions and perhaps it comes off the wrong way on the internet. I'm just geuninely curious about the Amico and want to get a better understanding of it and sometimes that means asking the tough questions and really trying to drill in points I have in hope people would understand where I'm coming from. Obviously people see this as me coming off too aggressively, which is a fair assesstment, perhaps I could have toned it down somewhat.

Lastly, just wanted to say I really do look forward to learning more about the Amico in the upcoming months and I do hope the Amico finds success regardless of my initial opinions of it. I've always said I respect the fact that this project is 100% self funded. Anyways, that is all you will hear from me on this topic in this thread, I will respect Tommy's wishes to move on and let the thread return to its previous state. I now have my own Amico thread so I'll just stick to that for the forseeable future.

I appreciate that you now recognize that you come across as aggressive.

I think that your personal style of interaction in this thread isn't a good match for most of us... which is why I mentioned to start your own thread if you'd like.  Something I can avoid if I so chose.

I'm glad you have started your own thread.  You can bet that I'll be checking it out from time to time if it is active.

Looking forward to proving you wrong about the console and hopefully kicking your ass in a game on it someday.  :D

Apologies for the recent "static" in this thread.  I'm glad to see that almost everyone has kept the discussion on-topic and civil for over 30 pages now, and I'd like to see that continue.  "SegaSnatcher" won't be participating in the thread in the future.

Thank you for the regular updates, and for your willingness to engage with the community directly and openly.  I'm intrigued by the Intellivision Amico, and I look forward to learning more!

Thank-you for watching over.

I enjoy speaking with passionate folks who are curious about our vision and/or who appreciate our position.  I just don't have the capacity to debate negativity and I saw the thread going down a bad path and wanted to try and stop it as opposed to just leaving the forums for a few months.

Appreciate the understanding.

I think the Wii U was ideal for a family with one player being the 'leader'. It worked incredibly well with the Zelda game from Nintendo Land for instance, in which I would protect my nephew and niece with a bow (through the gamepad) while they were slashing monsters by wagging the wiimotes. It was perfect because they were not skilled enough (at the time) to use the gamepad - at least in this game.
Unfortunately it was too specific, since the Wii U was perfect for a certain type of games (asymmetrical gameplay), and not even Nintendo released many games of that kind. But they can't be replicated easily on the Switch, and the excellent Pac-Man Vs. would have worked better on Wii U for example.

Totally agree.

Check out the latest press & recording from inside our booth at E3 last week!

Thanks to GamerTag Radio for checking out Amico with Michael Pachter.

My favorite quote during the podcast from the host: "This was the highlight of E3 for me and we were surrounded by legends."

After posting the podcast on Twitter, video game industry analyst Michael Pachter responded:  "It was an amazing demo".

After seeing Amico for the first time at E3 Michael Pachter immediately tweeted:  "I think folks will be surprised at how well Intellivision does.  It's a great value, slick interface and the CEO is a mensch."

Here is the podcast which includes an insider recording and parts of the presentation from inside our room at E3!

Hi!,

Thanks for the shared enthusiasm!  We find ourselves in the same position each and every day.  So many incredible new ideas!  But we can only focus on so many as we need to establish ourselves with our main objective first before going in other directions.  But we definitely have a really fun list of ideas to explore.

Unfortunately I can't mention anything more about what the controllers or mobile devices can do.  The ideas will be stolen and incorporated in a second so we need to protect ourselves as we put together many different patent ideas (which we have been doing on a weekly basis).  Honestly... nothing more boring than a 5 hour patent meeting!  Hahhaha!  They drag me into them kicking and screaming.  :D

But so important to our future.

Hi Tommy. I really hope leaving this thread is the last option you have ! 😮

I find it really amazing to have the chance to "talk" personally to a president for something I really looking forward to. 😀

Can you explain a little what "patent" means ? No one after you will be able to use it ? Or they could you use it if they are paying something for the rights to you ?

Are you going to make some adjustments after some constructive comments during your presentation at E3 ? (If there were !)

Will the 22 games in demonstration be at lauch for the amico ?

How many games will come packed with the system ?

Thank you.

This has been a music industry standard for a long time. You never open an unsolicited demo. That is the doorway to a lawsuit of someone saying "I sent in that idea, it's "my song"...it would be the same way with a game concept or scenario.

So that idea will never can de use again !?? Or is it just like a license !?

That's what I am not sure to understand.

An invention protected by patent means nobody can use it without their permission for a period of time, usually 20 years.

It's been previously said that Amico will come with five pack-in games.

Okay, that was I thought. Not sure if it will be 5 original games, re-imagined...

I wonder if like I saw somewhere it could be different pack, like to choose 5 games from 15, or choosing 1 pack of 5 from 3 packs. :)

I expect one based on a retro title, one sports game, one card game, one new original game.  As for the fifth, how about the customer chooses?

Couch coop for something like Catan is problematic, as each player has "hidden information" that you don't want shown on the TV. The same thing holds for several other board/card games. Catan, Scrabble, Ticket to Ride, Lost Cities and so on: all these types of board games have existed since time immemorial on other consoles (and the PC). The Xbox 360 had them, for example, and they never set the world on fire although they did have their dedicated followings.

Now if the Amico has player-specific screens on each controller (like, say, the WiiU), then it does add a new twist. It also opens up new problems: you'll need a way to upload a game-specific client app to each handheld (maybe using WiFi like a modern phone), you need good battery time, and you likely need more than 2 controllers, particularly for family play. Maybe there will be Amico apps for iOS and Android to allow those to be used as additional handsets. Maybe additional handsets will be cheap. Who knows!

Ah, I didn't even consider that, but yeah, player-specific screens for each controller would certainly help make those type of board/card games more playable on a console.  I could also see that being useful for tabletop games too (which certainly would also have the Amico doing what the other consoles aren't doing.)  PC has some good infrastructure for DMs/GMs to run games like D&D.

Intellivision Entertainment listed several Data East games in their 2018 press release.  Those games are now owned by a company called G-mode.  So Locknchase shouldn't be a problem.  Not sure how valuable the Locknchase title would be for Amico, I'm sure they'd rather have Pacman.  The odd thing with that press release list is that it has "Super Burgertime" rather than just Burgertime.  I wonder why that is.

Patent:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patent

No adjustments because of E3. Everyone loved it.

Not all of the 22 games will be at launch.

5 games with the system.

Patents aren't music related really.  Patents are more for products and inventions.  Music is "copyright" but not patents.

Hahaha.  Nice game name.  :)

At this point we don't have any fighting games.  Would need to be something really different and unique for us to consider.

Understood, but with copyrights the situation is similar. If you open up "unsolicited" material or ideas of inventions or improvements to patents you own. the risk of litigation is increased. So if you were working on a feature already and someone sends you that "idea" it could be an issue in their mind that you stole the idea.. That is all I'm was saying.

Have you and Kevin set up your return interview for Attack Media yet?  I’m super excited to see part 2 of that interview.  One of the many reasons I’m excited for game play trailer next month is new videos on YouTube I’ll be able to see Intellivision Amico news on I’m pretty sure I’ve seen every one out there multiple times so new videos will be nice lol

For those running Super Mario War on a RetroPie, this opportunity actually exists => http://smwstuff.net/[email protected]. It’s shockingly fun to stomp NES and SNES characters with those from the Inty era!

I don't want to beat a dead horse on third-party developers dropping the ball with unique approaches to consoles, but this quote from Wikipedia shows how they failed with the Wii:

"The Wii's success caught third-party developers by surprise, leading to apologies for the quality of their early games. In an interview with German news magazine Der Spiegel, Ubisoft's Yves Guillemot and Alain Corre admitted that they made a mistake in rushing out their launch titles, promising to take future projects more seriously.[177] Take-Two Interactive, which released few games for the Nintendo GameCube, changed its stance towards Nintendo by placing a higher priority on the Wii.["

However, most third-party developers seemed to repeat this lack of seriousness with the Kinect and WiiU.

My point is that I think you have to really watch these people and not let them slack on dedicated development, because they may have the desire to waffle on something with an unproven track-record.

The difference with Intellivision Amico is every developer is hand picked from ideas pitched and will work alongside Intellivision from start to finish to make the best game possible. And the game will have to pass the quality control group for Intellivision in order to be sold
