Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Recommended Posts

I just saw the madlittlepixel video on YouTube and I must say, he expressed his opinion in an intelligent way. I answered in his comment section that it’s probably  hard to get excited for this system now if you were not a gamer in the time of Intellivision. Even when the marketing starts, if you are a gamer who plays mostly solo or online, you probably won’t be excited. This system is about family / friends playing Simple games together. High scores / coop / multiplayer etc having simple fun. It’s hard for the average person  to see all the system offers and it’s many features and nuances that we learn about everyday as fans. Everyone will choose for themselves and he did this in a respectful way. But one thing is for sure , the gameplay offered on the Amico has nothing do do with mobile apps or any other system out there at the moment. I have a switch and a PS4 and love to explore all of the systems out there but more and more I want simple games I can pick up and play with friends and family Together. Hardcore gamers,  casual gamers and even non gamers or beginners  having fun Together ! I am most excited about the Amico because  the focus is that and ONLY that.

I wish I could have put it as good as you.

I saw his video and respect his honest opinion but I didn't comment on his video.

Thanks. It’s super late so I had to edit a few spelling mistakes and add a few words here and there. I’m glad the point came across. You can’t see the goal of the system just by watching the game demo videos. It’s so much more than that. It’s the sum of all of the parts that will make it so special. 😀

So strange... I felt the same way.  Was never a big Zaxxon fan and could never really put my finger on why not.

having to judge the height of an opening in a wall in a split second isn't a recipe for fun lol

Dude, I've seen how many boxed Intellivision consoles you have in your closet.  You'll buy 30-40.  ;-)

The secret is that the break-even point for Amico is actually the number of console box variants that Cmart is willing to buy. It's a can't fail business model.

You guys get me. Dudes named Chris need to stick together.

omg, just signed up the other day, THIS FORUM MOVES FAST 😅

Anyways, I know my interview was pretty long (2.5 hours), so I made a fun teaser trailer/re-cap.

I plan to do a 'live reaction' to the latest Amico trailer on my next livestream. See ya soon!

Now it's time to pre-order this beauty also ! ❤️

That's sexy but I already ordered the Founder's Edition. I needed the woodgrain... just because.

I am trying to find out if the games have online or not.
For example, if I want to play pong against someone online, can I do that?
I've watched a bunch of videos (games look awesome and fun) and have seen the whole "family living room gaming" experience being touted.
I'm all for that and think its great, but I live alone and would like to know if I also can play the vs games or any games in general with a multiplayer mode on the internet.
I've seen in some trailers "internet FEATURES" but haven't seen any confirmation the games can be played online. (features could just mean leaderboards & DLC for all I know)
The pre-ordering starts today and my pre-order is pending this information so can someone that knows this information please advise?
Thanks

Hahahaha!!  You're starting to pick up on my jargon.

"Wouldn't that be something" = Yes, but I can't say.

"Ya never know" = Maybe, we're still in negotiations.

Thanks to the Tommy Tallarico decoder ring in the Amico store, you can decode his secret messages too...

After all this time I just realized that the Glacier White console looks like Tron Classic... The Graphite Black console looks like Tron Legacy...  Better late than never! Can't wait to pre-order!

I noticed this when everyone started calling the Black one the "TRON" console.  I'll be getting a TRON Classic later today (hopefully).  That thing looks really pretty.

This forum moves incredibly fast.

I watched the full video and it was really good.  I'm not one for the whole "drama" between YouTubers, so I may have skipped that part.  But it was a really good listen, and I loved Tommy's shirt.  Can't wait to get one.

There's currently no online multiplayer.  It was an original goal and might be added in the future. Online features mean leaderboards and their store.  It's all covered in their faq.

No, no online play for at least 2020 or 2021. No DLC, etc. Maybe a pick-your-friends version in 2022.

I don't subscribe to him, or almost anyone else for that matter, but I stop by his channel maybe 2 to 4 times a month to see what he's up to. He's got his head screwed on straight, which is way more than most others can claim, and I'm glad he put this out in a professional manner.

SideSwipers looks like a great party game for sure. However, unless the goals change on other levels, why is it called SideSwipers? Shouldn't it be called T-Bone?

His reasons seem to be: The woodgrain doesn't do it for him.  Money is tight right now. He'd only play it for doing video content.

All understandable. That last point though is where I think a lot of the differences are between those who love it and those who don't. The entire point of Amico is to play it with other people. I think that a lot of the gamers on YouTube are so used to just playing single-player games that the idea of a system revolving around local multiplayer doesn't appeal to them at all.  He said he'd pull it out when something new drops to highlight it for a video. The point is to pull it out when you have friends over and want to play something together.
