I will say this Ugly system and I didn't think you were the right person for the job, BUT you shocked me and exceeded expectations, you have my purchase when they hit stores now you can unblock me on FB so we can be friends again. ;p;

Strangest apology ever.

Thanks... I think?

:)

Yeah... I didn't really appreciate you leaving such nasty messages on my personal Facebook page that people like my mom and other family members frequent often and could read.  A little more thinking before typing on personal pages would probably go a long way for you.  :D

Still not loving the updated/remade games. The original's had a clean look, due to the system capabilities, but the new ones are too busy for my taste.

It is weird. I haven't discussed this two much but I think the Breakout has been the best overall demo.

Night Stalker looks neat but may be too busy.

I have the opposite feeling of Astrosmash. I feel like it looked super slow. Even my wife was like, "That looks easy." I know its an early demo but I felt like the asteroids didn't look quite right. Especially the ones that floated back up when shot. I'm assuming the ones that say TEMP on them will have the words removed. If the plan is not to remove that I would. Unless there's a good reason for that to be on there. But speed wise just compare the original footage to the new. The only reason they died in the video is that they made boneheaded moves.

From my understanding, mostly from reading comments by Tommy and Nick Bruty, Astrosmash will be looking better as the game develops. The Nightstalker demo looked odd, I don't know how else to describe it. Something about the walls. I could just be weird. Breakout looks good and I love the sound on it, if that is the final version, as it sounds like 80's beat boxxing. The "ball" did seem to take curved paths during some of the demo so Im curious about that.

Night Stalker had walls that pulsed bullets that glowed into the walls and the screen 'pulsed' and didn't have a fixed screen.  I think if you removed at least one of those things it would help. I think the non fixed screen was off putting and probably won't be good for those who get motion sick.

Other than it being busy it looked cool.

Also the 'english' on the ball in Breakout is due to motion controls. It is weird that I find it the simplest in appearance but the best one overall.

I think you nailed it on the non fixed screen. I wonder which player the screen follow?

I wondered that too. But it was so hard to follow, that my best guess is how close they were to each other. Unless later levels have the need to scroll due to them being taller or longer I don't see the point besides to disorient.

That makes sense, I'm just wondering how well it can be controlled as Breakout is about lining up shots and I'd hate to accidently put some "English" on it and miss. IMHO Amico would benefit from staying simplistic looking for its updated games. I would rather play a cleaner, more hi depth version of old games than a"what if we made X game today" type thing.

I think if you think about it with combo touch controbs plus moving slightly like in a ping pong game it would work. Might be some button action too.

Not sure if we can discuss this here, so feel free to delete this, but I am curious where Tommy got the number of mobile gamers from? I ask because I haven't seen anyone say what the crossover with "hardcore" gamers is or how many play games on phones when they are away from their home consoles like I do. Also, was it confirmed that there would be 1 game released a month or am I imagining that?

I'm a FE backer atm but I do have concerns about the longevity of the console. Going after the casual and family demographic is always a hard sell because they are the ones who are happy just playing games on their phone or a system they already own. I think there will be a buzz around it at the start but my fear is that after a strong start that it will stagnate. I'm sure Intellivision have thought of this and have ideas in place but it is very hard to force people to buy a console and if the install base isn't there then getting developers in will be a lot more difficult.

I don't see a problem with the discussion. I've been curious about that too, but I worked in a couple of research labs before.

Don't know for sure but I would guess some type of sales report on mobile vs sales of the consoles. You will have some double dipping but even so there will be way more casual than console if you take double dippers out.

I think this is the biggest concern. Its why I'm almost more interested in seeing a non-reimagined game.

I think they have a plan in place. I guess the biggest concern would be money running out to develop games if it doesn't sell well at first.

🤷‍♂️

Beyond double dipping, there are quite a few mobile games that are less casual, such as COD and Langrisser, so I'm curious how many mobile gamers are just playing things like Words with Friends and not things more complex.

Here you go 2.1 billion mobile gamers, about 200 million XBoxes, PS4 & Switches sold - assuming a 100% overlap (to account for older systems) then that is a maximum 10% overlap. Google is a wonderful thing.

Also a game release every 10 to 14 days is the current plan.

I do have concerns about the 1 game a month thing, if I'm not mistaken about it, if a game under sells. Will they release a 2nd game or just ride it out?

Thanks for the release schedule information. Your numbers could be flawed as you are assuming 1 person per console. Additionally, I have seen people use multiple phones for things like Pokemon Go so the mobile numbers could be inflated a bit.

I think ride it out. From a money standpoint what I like about it is it would allow me to budget purchases easier. However, I could see it being both good and bad. Fewer games mean less choice and more likely to try it especially at the price point. But due to low priced games it wouldn't be great to not get any sales.

Google... it's a thing huh?

 :D

Was estimated at the beginning of 2019 that there would be 2.4 billion in 2019.  It was actually higher and the research and data shows that a lot of countries aren't counted in the total number which they believe is 3 billion.

Uhhh I gave you an totally unrealistic 100% overlap to account for a tiny bit of slop. You REALLY think a huge number of people is carrying multiple phones to play games on to make up for 2 billion people?

Lucky for us guys we're not doing just 1 game a month as someone has suggested and was corrected.

Yeah my bad I only put 30 seconds into it finding an answer ;)  Not surprising the number continues to grow.
