Uhhh I gave you an totally unrealistic 100% overlap to account for a tiny bit of slop. You REALLY think a huge number of people is carrying multiple phones to play games on to make up for 2 billion people?

I didn't say a huge number, why is it that asking a question is so often met with hostility? And why do you feel it is unrealistic for people who love games to play mobile games when they are not at home?

Why bother... he's just going to take anything you say to try and twist it... instead of doing any actual research of his own.

Not hostile I did a super liberal estimate and you are considering something that must be a tiny rounding fraction to the numbers. I just don't see the relevance to anything Amico related.

Was curious about the potential player base. As I said, I am what would be considered a "hardcore" gamer and I also play mobile games while on the bus or watching TV.

Also the 'english' on the ball in Breakout is due to motion controls. It is weird that I find it the simplest in appearance but the best one overall.

You know I have often wanted 'english' in games like Breakout - twisting the controller like it would help in older version. However now I am not sure if it is going to make the mechanics more satisfying or if the pure approach is better? That is one I really want to try out - what are your thoughts on the addition?

It's an interesting question, but I don't think anyone knows for sure what the ultimate buyer base will be for Amico.  There was a small niche category of products like Ouya and Gamestick and a few others that came out 5-7 years ago that were all vying to bring mobile gaming into the home.  Outside of their initial crowdfunding, I think only Ouya sold more than a million units and that was at $100 or less.   Developers reported pretty terrible game sales on Ouya with I think the best selling games all doing less than 10,000 purchases.  I hope Amico is more successful and it certainly seems to have a better plan than Ouya or Gamestick.  Software attach rate is going to be very interesting, especially if a good chunk of Amico sales go to people that haven't been involved in much gaming since the Wii.  It sounds like there is a plan to keep new games coming out on a fairly regular basis, but I do wonder what happens if a few games in a row come out that aren't of interest to the majority of Amico owners.  I saw this happen with Ouya and unfortunately it seemed to kill any momentum that the console may have had once the crowdfunded units started to be delivered.

Thank you for expressing what I wanted to in a better manner than I did.

I would have to use it to know for sure but I looked like a nice addition in the footage. I know it won't play the same but think about how nice english on the ball would be when having problems hitting like the last pesky block that always seemed to avoid collision. 😂

I thought the best selling was only around 7000. Best route to probably help with this is have two different types of games each month. Might not be able to work out that way but if you have two card games out this month amd you are more an arcade guy you are out of luck. But if one is an arcade like and one a more casual that's diversifying your offerings.

I believe the plan is to have around 20 games at launch. That should help with the impact of new games not reaching everyone. The 20 games should hopefully have enough for different gamers to be satisfied for a bit.

I could see the first quarter of its life being very important in reviews and word of mouth. They don't have the name recognition like others. Some of that will depend on the marketing that we haven't seen yet though.

I am getting quite tired of this shit, why go into a thread, that is about bananas, when you clearly don't like bananas?  I may have to pull out the big hammer instead.

7,000 sounds right, but the data wasn't updated after about the first year or so on the market, so I estimated under 10K to be safe.  I'm sure you're right about how they intend to avoid this problem, but I do wonder if just two games a month will be enough when they are more discrete and in some ways limited experiences than say a AAA title on a PC or one of the other consoles.  At $100, consumers may be more forgiving than at $230 or more if there isn't great software product constantly in the pipeline.  I mean there were entire years where the 3DS or Wii didn't have anything of interest to me and I have pretty diverse gaming tastes.

That's one of the reasons I personally wasn't a fan of the price hike/feature creep/etc.

But some of the games will also be under $10 meaning much easier to try out/or branch into a genre you don't typically play.

As someone who writes about video games and talks to people in and around the industry I am seeing some odd happenings from smaller YT creators in regards to the Amico. Understandably a smaller channel getting a chance to chat with a CEO of a gaming company is huge but I wonder if it will influence opinions? The internet is quick to call people shills, I should know as I have been called one many times, so it will be interesting to see what comes of this.

I'm doing keto and so I can't have bananas. They have a lot of carbs, which stinks cuz I love bananas.

Since you are out of the loop, you should probably know CPUWIZ is the major domo moderator at Atariage. Just FYI.
