But it seriously is true. It even works in areas like playing video games. I use to hate the idea of FPS games. I decided to give them a shot. Recognized that I would need to "Get Gud" and played some. It still isn't my favorite genre but I have an appreciation for why people would like them. I even found one that fit more for my tastes in SW Battlefront.

 

If I had just went in saying it was going to be crap, die, get tea bagged by the guy who shot me to say screw it FPS are crap, I would have probably missed out on all the fun I had with Battlefront.

 

As I become older and more of a retro gamer I have to be aware of those biases towards what I loved when I was younger. Yes some of my favorite games may never be remade but that doesn't mean there isn't still good stuff out right now that will make me feel the same or give me the same enjoyment.

I have to say that Battlefront was the game that got me interested in FPS too.  I have the Star Wars franchise to thank for that!

I am family and friends with engineers, so the original joke was one we have all enjoyed for a long time. The extra rebuttal was a trolling response to the dismissal of my joke. 
 

I am not a big enough troll to want to keep this going, although it appears by the responses it would be quite easy. 
 

I have a great affinity for engineers, their logical approach to problems is appreciated. 
 

The personality part of the joke actually has a backhanded nod to myself, so is tongue in cheek. 
 

Didn’t mean to ruin everyone’s day, but I guess I should have realized not all engineers can take a joke, just most of the ones I know and love can.

Yeah I've played Apex and CoD. While I think they are okay the Star Wars theme helps even if it is a little inferior overall. It's funny how that can work. It helped my brother in law liked those games. Same with WoT. Now I'm getting back into the Blitz version of that.

As an engineer I didn’t take offense, as I am aware its in the vein of humor, not a personal attack.

We should not be given the privilege of laughing at others until we are able to laugh at ourselves.
