Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

To kick off Intellivisions 40th birthday celebration, we have dug deep into the archives to share with everyone a never-before-seen promo video from 1978! This was filmed a year before the official launch of Intellivision & there are some images and information in the video that are different from what ended up coming out.  Can you pick them all out?  EPIC 1950's sounding voice-over.

Someone needs to do a remix song with this! :)

More exciting news to come throughout the day!

You know, Nurmix is a wiz at remixes.  You should check out the stuff he's done for the Intellivisionaries.  He might be a valuable asset to your team! 😉 😄

It's actually in the works!!

And lots of different colors also.  AND even a bean bag chair coming!!!

Sweeeeet!!!

Thank you Tommy for adding all the great merchandise to your store.

I have 10 or so Intellivision shirts but have never found a hat or hoodie through the years. Outstanding! 👍

I am wearing my running man beanie and a nice intellivision revolution shirt to commemorate the 40th!

Any chance to talk to Numskull and have them so some keychains?  They did an outstanding job on their Atari 2600 line.  They look fantastic!  Would be great to have some cool Inty keychains at this level of quality.

A couple of details:

1) The first Playstation was released 25 years in Japan today. It's an interesting coincidence.

2) That Intellivision commercial was hypnotic. I am ready to pay $500 for the machine.

I just watched the new controller overview video, and this looks unique in a good way. I like gaming socially and casually, so the Amico and its controllers look great for me. I want to buy the Amico on day one, but I'm going to be living abroad for almost a year, so I might have to wait until the summer.

Only partially related: Tommy, I know you said that we can't play CoD on the Amiico, but can I play Doom? Obviously it won't be on the Amiico Storefront, but I'm assuming that the OS is based on Linux or Android. How hard would it be to sideload a sourceport and play my all-time favorite FPS?

The video has been up on youtube for a while just not in this quality.  You can see that at the time this was made the intellivision hardware wasn't finalised; specifically the buggy STIC.

I know the day is not over yet (for most of us), but when is that playable demo of Moon Patrol being released that we will be able to play on our phones?  Is that still to come later today?

I thought it was.  I watched it a few years back.  I thought it was very interesting but hard to keep focused...that voice killed me

You probably should have gotten the email by now but if you want to see the official press release (contains some nice renders of the logo, controller and console) you can find it here.

They also released a 'now and then' of the first official free, pack-in game - skiing. I got to see an early development video but was pretty much sworn to secrecy except to say that I saw it. Now that a few photos has been released, you can see what I was impressed about: clean graphics, saturated color pallet and a surprising challenging game play with several different 'lines' you can take down the course.

I figured Tozai was probably along for the ride. Thought I read somewhere that they and Intellivision were working together.

On another note, is there a way that devs who've already applied can check on their status?
