Where would you plug in the sensor? Or are you talking about some other PC ones?

I’d like to see some updated or reimagined versions of the maze games: Alien for Atari 2600 ( I know, Fox) and Old Skool (homebrew prototype - also published by Elektronite here).

The internet has created an alien universe, where someone with zero experience or skill can start a youtube channel, call themselves a 'critic' (which used to be a form of journalism), and entitle themselves to an on-the-level interview with Tommy Tallarico, an industry veteran with a long-term proven track record, multiple awards, and a reputation for integrity.   The so-called critic can lie, falsify, slander, make personal attacks, and threaten, with little fear of recourse or negative effect to their personal life or finances-it's quite possible they will benefit financially from this behavior, making this 'occupation' very attractive indeed.

Support is easy to find, the world is full of armchair quarterbacks who have never put on a helmet and pads.  It's full of naive children and poorly adjusted 'adults' who are fully entitled to their entertainment, but completely oblivious to what it takes to be the entertainer.  Until a couple decades ago, these people, despite being the in the majority, had no outlet for their inexpert, biased, poorly informed opinions-which is how it should be.  With the advent of the internet, the floodgates opened.

So now we have a world where legitimately talented, organized, professional, hardworking people are constantly threatened and manipulated by those with no skill, no vision, no integrity, and most importantly, a deeply felt sense of insecurity.  They know they don't have the balls and backbone to take a real risk, to do the real work, to deal with the stress, to see it through.  It bothers them so completely, they spend all their time trying to tear down what others are working so very hard to build.  They argue loudly, as people with baseless opinions often do.  They crave attention-any attention, good or bad, doesn't matter.

I don't know what the best way is to fight this wave of pigheadedness.  You can ignore them, but if your target audience isn't, then that's a problem.  You can fight back, but these folks are pigs.  It's hard to wrestle with a pig-you are going to get dirty, and the pig is going to like it.  The internet is the worlds biggest pigpen, wading in and out without getting it all over you isn't easy.

Tommy, don't let these people manipulate you or distract you.  The momentum is so clearly on your side, and this guy is just wallowing around in the mud, trying to pull you in.  Integrity is the only way to pig-wrestle and come out clean, and you and your team have that in spades.  One of the main reasons I'm supporting the Amico is I can see the effort, passion, talent, and integrity that are so obviously being put into it.  Even if the general public doesn't know that (yet), by next Christmas they will sense it, and they will buy it-and you and your team will be laughing all the way to the bank.

This is a great post. I agree the negativity on the internet can seem overwhelming at times and can definitely bring you down. I'm not exactly Mr. Positive by any means, and I can be cynical, but I try not to be overly negative and I don't like to trash talk about a product I barely know anything about yet. The sad thing is that all those trolls and haters hurt everybody. Those who have doubts or general concerns, or even just want to ask questions, are often immediately labeled as one of them, even though they are not.

Tommy, how does the Karma Engine work with high scores? I'm delighted by the idea because game/score balancing was an issue in my family on the OG Intellivision, and I think it'll take that kind of equalizer to get my wife to play with the kids and me.

That said, I do loves me my bragging rights, so 'pure' high score competition is important as well.

Yo!

Unfortunately... via Skype.  If it was in person I'd LOVE to meet ya!  I'll be up there at some point though... so only a matter of time.

Thanks!

If you do go to Vancouver, don't let CMart talk you into visiting his collector's dungeon, he'll just bore you to death with his Spikers, Playcables, and Keyboard Components and won't share his expensive wine with you. 😉

Manufacturing is up in the air for everyone... including Sony & Microsoft... and of course... us.

My prediction is that there could be massive video game console hardware shortages this coming Christmas.

This is also a concern for the board game industry, as the vast majority of board games (including Kickstarter games) are manufactured in China these days. Lots of people mentioning the concern over on the boardgamegeek forum.

Karma gaming engine if nothing else can be turned on and off in settings so there is the option to cut it off when you know your doing a solo high score run and on when playing with family

How about Armor Attack!  One of my favorites.  That was the inspiration of putting that helicopter into Armor Battle.  That thing was as terrifying as the Night Stalker spider when I was 12.   :)

Lol... Like the Chopper in Spy Hunter.  Loved that theme song and hearing that chopper thumping coming in from a distance.

Peter Gunn... Best arcade game theme song hands down

WOW!!!!

Thank you so much for sharing your story.  So many amazing things in your post.  Thank-you for writing it.  It really means a lot... and on so many different levels.

That picture of your dad instantly brought tears to my eyes.  I'm hoping to do the same thing with my dad who just turned 79.

Looking forward to seeing pics of you and your entire family playing Amico together.

p.s.  Get your dad a beanbag chair or something!  Hahhaaa!   Although that was the way I think we all played games back in the day!  Right on the floor!

Lots of love to you and your family.

Thank you again for sharing.

i used to play my Intellivision on the floor like that as a kid..but now my legs fall alseep after like 5 minutes lol

Just got my first check of protection money from Intellivision, nice chunk.  I think Jay and Matt got theirs today as well. 👍

Alright... I'm gonna need to make a special merchandise code for the folks in here so they can start replacing those Atari shirts with Intellivision ones!

I'm serious!  I'll get a 20% off code on Monday and will post it here.   :)

I hear they pay their employees in T-shirts and hats. I wonder how much the T-shirt to hat exchange rate fluctuates. How many Amico T-shirts for an Atari speaker hat?

Tommy,

Will any unreleased Intellivision games be coming to Amico?  I know Missile Command is coming.

We hope so!

They should.  But there wouldn't be too many games that would work with them as most of the games need/use the touch screen.
