Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Recommended Posts

One question I have is what and/or how many classic Intellivision games will be on the system and/or available when it launches? Another question is about how many new games will be available when the console launches? Definitely I am looking forward to receiving more updates on the system and its games. Also, I can also state as well that I really appreciate the engagement and updates being given. I really think it helps generate interest in the project, but also can only help the product be even better than something that is closed off.

Will the lost Tutorvision games be part of the classic Intellivision games released with the console?

In essence, this would be very easy to do because anyone could create a concept in Unity and just get our special Unity controller App (that replicates the controller hardware). So they wouldn't even need dev kits... they could do it all in software.

We definitely want to promote people creating on our system.

I'd definitely be in for this, though I'm really interested in the gyroscope+accelerometer sensors, which might not virtualize all that greatly :P If those controller bits are accessible over regular bluetooth, that might do the trick for a fuller featured Unity testbed.

Anyway, not looking for a solution here today. I'm glad to hear you want people creating stuff on the Amico, and hope you'll keep us hobby devs in mind.

I can attest to this! Tommy has pretty much every home brew game released for the Intellivision. Hes as big a fan as the rest of us here. And those if you who met and hung out with him at PRGE already know this. He left your booth with quite a stack of games, Rev.

I can attest to this as well since Tommy left the booth with the last copy of Donkey Kong Jr. before I could snag one.... DAMN YOU TALLARICO, YOU'LL PAY FOR MAKING ME WAIT!!!

Will the Amico have a snow level? :ponder:

*ducks*

As far as I know, no one found the Easter egg in DK Jr.

Hi!,

Thanks for the questions. All good ones!

We'll have about 7 or 8 remade Intellivision Classics on launch. There will be between 30 - 40 new games available on launch.

Potentially. Not sure yet. They may appear in some form or another via emulation.

Will you be at the Midwest Gaming Classic?

Currently we don't have plans this year to attend. Can you give me more info though? When and where is it?

It just became a full blown expo last year and is supposed to double in size this year too.

Hope to see you there next year if you can't this year!

jzintv emulator can play the two dumped tutorvision games perfectly (with that rexec and rgrom), as can a few special Super Pro Intellivisions. There is an undumped Geo Graphics cart out there, as well, but the owner seems to have lost interest in dumping it.

Thanks for answering my question Tommy. I really appreciate it. However, will there be original Intellivision games on the system a la the INTV Flashback done by AtGames a few years back, or will they available in bundles of some kind at launch? Thanks again and definitely looking forward to what the Amico will bring.

Tommy, did you write that tune for the intellivisionentertainment.com web page? It's pretty sweet.

@Tommy...

Question on hardware capability. Will there be the possibility of plugging in a blue-tooth keyboard and expanding the game lot to use the keyboard. Slews of RPG and War turn-based games from the C64 and Amiga era come to mind immediately once there is a keyboard/mouse option.

This popped in my head when I saw Archon will be a possible re-make/retro fit to the Amico. Would be great to finally see Pool of Radiance, Ultima or The Bard's Tale style games on the Intellivision... plus all the SSI War and D&D titles that were produced in the late 80's and early 90's.

Yes! We will be packing games together and running off Joe Z.'s emulator.... WHICH WE ALL KNOW IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!!!! NOT THAT AT GAMES CRAP!!! ;)

The original games will be very inexpensive. We don't have the exact pricing... but figure something like buying a SPORTS pack that has like 10 - 15 games for around $5.99 or something. Basically paying around .50 cents or less per old title. But the cool part.... digital overlays now! :)

No. I picked it and edited it for the video, but it was written by:

The song is called Reconfig

As of this writing we haven't thought about doing that. But the system does have Bluetooth so I don't see why we couldn't try. Our main focus is on the system itself for now though... something that like would probably be coming during Phase II (i.e. after the launch).

Thanks Tommy, you've got my respect for being so open with everyone and how you've dealt with criticism. I'm looking forward to the Amico. It will be a day one purchase for me.
