We come here to spew opinion.

Most come here to SHARE their opinion, feelings or facts on a particular subject. Others SPEW vomit from their faces. If dude wanted to hat me, my video or my opinion I prob would never have been here. I was not defending my self at all, I was correcting gross miss representation, with a bit o an attitude I will admit. That said, if one is going to come on with the tone that dude did and no be factual in 1 thing they speak about, that person better expect a reaction and have the thick skin to take it. Oh and guess what, HE DID. We are about to hug and kiss right now so please (will saying please help this be more comforting) put your cape away and stop playing Superman.  Can you and I hug and kiss now and get back to the topic at hand because I am excited to get my Founders Edition and jam with you kool kats.

The other video was really good, even if the guy is not able to see past the "why do I need X because I am a hardcore player" mentality in the "critical thinking" part. He does seem very honest and a nice guy, and does a great job at summarizing most of what we know so far about the Amico.

I did want to acknowledge this and let you know I did see it after the fact and want to thank you for your kind words. :)

It may not have been your intention, but that kind of response somewhat signifies to me that you have massive doubts and are looking to disparage us.  Is that true?  If so, I'm interested in knowing why.  Please give me more info.

To answer your comment...

The answer is...

um.... no.

Thanks. I have been registered for some time. I just hate forums.

Yeah... after a year of being in here... I can sympathize!   :D

But there has been a LOT more positives in this thread and my interactions... which is why I continue coming back as much as I can.

That being said...  Yo CHRIS!!  Welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I hope you stick around!

I left this comment on your video... but probably better that I leave it here so we can openly discuss.

Hi Chris! Thank-you for your honest feedback. I can totally understand and appreciate your point of view. Just to be clear... it was only just an idea I was thinking about because of all the e-mails we are constantly getting from folks begging us to please do another pre-order for the Vintage Woodgrain with something extra. If it was just one or two e-mails a week... that would be one thing. But the fact that it's like 10 - 15 a day is pretty crazy! We've literally received more e-mails about this than the 2600 people who purchased the Founders Edition! Good news for us! The pre-orders that happen at retail are also going to have special things. So I guess my point or question is... if retail stores will be doing special pre-order stuff (NOTHING like the epic Founders Edition!) why wouldn't folks want Intellivision to also do special pre-order stuff as well? Of course we make more money when we sell things directly to our customers... and if our customers are begging us to do something cool for them (i.e. giving them a reason to buy direct and get something cool) then it seems crazy not to do so.

But again... I see the points that you and others here are saying and I wouldn't want it to seem like we are desperate in any way. Hell... I don't mind doing a VIP Pre-Order with ZERO money down! It's not about the money at all. It's about giving our loyal audience and followers something they want. The folks who got the Founders Edition truly got something super unique! We will NEVER do anything close to that at all. No one ever has to feel like they are being selfish about wanting to keep the Founders Edition special. It totally is... and always will be. I can seriously see those things selling for over $1,000 on Ebay at some point! The idea with the VIP edition is to do 5200 or something (see what I did there!) and have the Vintage Woodgrain (UNsigned), no patch, no pin, no digital and physical soundtrack albums and no $50 metal laser cut gift card. Only a signed team poster and maybe like a $25 plastic gift card. That's it! A very far cry from the Founders Edition. The reality is that all of the retailers are going to be doing special pre-order stuff... so I guess my question is... why shouldn't we also? We've made the decision (although things could always change) that the ONLY place people will be able to purchase the Vintage Woodgrain will be directly through us. So if we throw in a few small extra perks to give our most ardent fans and followers something to feel a little special about... I don't know... I just don't see the issue personally. But hey... if it's going to cause a ton of backlash and bad feelings with the Founders Edition folks... then it's probably not worth doing. I guess I'm just not understanding 100% the reason people would be upset or feeling like we are somehow scamming people? Pre-orders are a thing of modern times and every store and video game company does them. We are doing it... but giving stuff that you would NEVER see companies like Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft do. I thought we would have been praised for that... not the opposite.

The final thing to mention about this is that it was merely just an idea at this point. I am currently working on a big gameplay video that a lot of folks are going to appreciate... which in turn is going to drive the hype level through the ceiling again. We just want to be prepared for capturing that enthusiasm and translating it to another big win for ourselves and prove once again that folks are super excited about what were doing and they want to be a part of it. I'm sure you can imagine how difficult it must be for us to break into the market dominated by 3 multi-billion dollar companies. The more "pre-sales" we have... the better. The more proof of concept we have... the better. I would never want to do anything to cheapen the original Founders. They will ALWAYS hold a special place in our hearts for stepping up and helping us to prove our point. But doing something a little special for the tens of thousands of others who wanted to get in but couldn't... shouldn't be seen as a negative... but hopefully a positive from a company who truly appreciates their audience and wants to give a little something back.

Now that you have more info Chris I would love to hear your thoughts. Maybe you could do another video... or respond to me here or on Facebook. Once again... I appreciate your honesty and I know that your intentions are only meant to help us and give us insight. Appreciate you my brother! My fellow Masshole! Lets talk more. In fact... if you want to do a Skype interview for one of your videos... lets do it!! You can ask me ANYTHING! Might be fun. Thanks again! Looking forward to discussing more. Keep the awesome videos coming. As always... you're "creeping it real!" :)

Tommy. Take a look at this crazy clip from Sochi in 2014 with Ski Cross. ( Knowing that we will have this with skiing )

www.youtube.com/watch?v=2biE7TTdpLQ

(The link should work better ... )

So with Amico will it be possible to fall like this ? When jumping will we need to keep ou controler without moving or something like that because if not we can lose our balance !! ?  😮 Could be cool !

Also, with this kind of gameplay, Motocross could be really fun ! 😃

Hahahhaa!  Yeah... this is exactly what we're trying to recreate on the 4 player Ski Cross mode!  Super high jumps, people bumping each other, etc.  So far it's super fun!  But still adding a ton of other fun things in there as well!  All about the "tracks" for the Ski Cross.

Just left this comment on the video.  Hopefully he'll respond.

Hi! Thanks for covering Intellivision and Amico! I appreciate it. I respectfully disagree with some of the things and assumptions you made in the video (which is totally fine that you made them!) and if you are interested in having me on and discussing more... I'd love to. We could do a private call as well if you'd like. Doesn't need to be for publicity. Just looking to give more insight and info on what we're doing and why. Thanks again for the video. Feel free to reach out and lets do a video or private interview together if you'd like.

You're fine man. No "hugging and kissing" needed lmao.

I was just saying that tone is what's important here and that particular tones are just going to go around in circles and accomplish nothing. We all have our own opinions on tons of the Amico videos on Youtube and we post them here, including Tommy himself. Sometimes some of our opinions are harsh, sometimes they're wrong, sometimes they're right, etc.

As for whether or not to have another preorder, I think it's a bad idea.  It negates the Founder's Edition's uniqueness and does give off a bad vibe (not that Intellivision is desperate but people will think or say that).

Additionally we can all get preorders at various stores later this year and if supply is low than we loose out until they come back in stock.

It's not the end if the world if your product is sold out. Its actually a good thing!

🙂

I guess my feeling on this is I always want folks to know that we care and are paying attention to our biggest fans.  There are more people upset that they didn't get a Founders Edition then there are people who got them!  So I seem to lose either way.  That is why I thought by doing something a little special for the thousands of folks who missed out... would still keep the Founders Edition SUPER special... while still giving the masses something that they can feel a little special about as well.

Cheers Tommy - I love the fact you post here and ask questions to us TRUE RETRO FANS! :)

On principal, I object to another round of pre-orders. Granted, I got in on the Founders Edition so keep that in mind and do with that what you will ;-) However, if you do another pre-order, then it should just be the standard edition with maybe a gift card for games. That's it. Nothing really special except getting in on it and getting it right after the Founders. This keeps the Founders Edition special (as I know you meant it to be). The thing I am most concerned about is if you keep adding on pre-orders, it may bring negative press like "oh, they are out of money" or "they are just milking this like Atari VCS" or "it must be getting delayed for sure now, just like Atari VCS". To perhaps get past any "Atari VCS" pre-order stigma that's been around for 2 years now, you've already succeeded by only taking a smaller amount ($100)...so if you did another round, I would suggest you to require an even smaller amount ($50 or the amount of the gift card) so people won't say you're just trying to make a cash grab. Again, on principal, I'm against it because then I feel less special with my Founders Edition, but I do feel for those that didn't get in on it. However, if you limit it to only 1 more batch of 2600 that is just a pre-order with a gift card, and 1 order per person, I could live with that. Oh, and open it up for pre-orders on the weekend so hard-working folks that cannot access a PC during business hours can get in on it). Well, this is my 2 cents. Hope these thoughts add something to your own thought process. Whatever you do, I know your motive is pure and true with the TRUE RETRO FAN community, I'm just worried about bad press and social media backlash that may overshadow the good you are intending.

Hi!  Thanks for your support and feedback.

Yeah... the thought is to give a little extra something to "VIP's".  $25 plastic RFID gift card (as opposed to the metal laser cut $50 one in the Founders Edition) and maybe a signed team poster... and that's it.  Just something to make the thousands of folks who missed out on the Founders Edition feel a little special as well.  The average e-mail goes something like this....

"Yo Tommy & Team!  Thank you for giving people the opportunity to get in on a Founders Edition.  Even though you warned us that they would sell out quick... I thought it was merely marketing hype and didn't see the initial need to get on it the second it came out.  I was at work and figured I'd get one when I got home later that evening.  To my surprise... you were right!  I couldn't believe they were already gone!  Congratulations!  Would you ever consider doing another kind of pre-order that gave something special for your greatest fans and followers?  Thank-you and please keep up the incredible work.  I love getting updates and love everything you and your team are doing.  Can't wait til 10/10/2020!"

Imagine if you were getting hundreds of e-mails every few days like this!  It's really been incredible and I'm so happy it's happening... although a little sad that so many people feel disappointed.

To address one thing you mentioned... doing it on a weekend would be tough as we need to have support standing by to help answer peoples' questions, etc.  My guys & gals work so hard during the week... I'd feel guilty to require them to come in on their day off to help with everything.

You know best in this instance.

Though I still disagree with you about the VIP Edition, I respect where your heart is in this situation. You are a unique individual who puts his feelings out there and that is admirable.

Much props!

Yes.  I am having massive doubts. The Coronavirus and the situation in China has to be affecting the schedule and development of the project.   The new vip option could be viewed as crowd funding to keep the project rolling.

I initially bought the founders edition because the activity on Atariage gave the project some sense of credibility. But the posts over the last couple of days have eroded the credibility including the flippant response above.

That's what you call a "MASShole" attitude!  Hahaha!  If you grew up on the east coast (especially NY, NJ, CT or MA) in the 70's/80's then you know what I'm talking about.  :)

That's just his way of saying... Hi!

Seriously though... I'd hate to see like minded folks go at each other in here.  I like everyone involved.  It's just a

I'm against the "principle" that one person should not get something just so another person can feel a little more special, on principle. Manufactured rarity and collectors and their need to feel special. :P The whole "if you make more of them, mine will feel less special" is an argument I've heard so many times I'm sick of it.

I'm not against special editions, just the "I feel less special" as a principle of some kind. It's games for heaven's sake.

I'm trying to make everyone feel a little special in some way.  I guess that's the challenge.  I want the Founders Edition folks to feel SUPER DUPER special... and the VIP folks to feel a little special.

That would be the goal anyway.  :)

Totally!  I agree with this as well.  No one needs to agree with everything everyone says (this place would get boring quick if that was the reality) and although the outsider haters love to point to this thread and declare that everyone is drinking Kool-Aid or is in the Amico cult... they are clearly negative morons who clearly don't actually read half the comments here.  Like you said... as long as it's CIVIL... everything is cool.  The mods would agree as well.

It's the passive aggressive dickbags that tried to come here just to cause chaos that got the well deserved boot.  :D :D :D :D :D

Actually, I was referring to the second video posted by LePionnier (he had only posted 2 videos at that point and then edited his message to add a third video, the one where you say that you've ordered the Founders).

But it's okay, we can still be friends... I mean, we both love the Amico and the original Playstation (my favorite console of all time, but I didn't buy it on day one as you, I waited until late '97). 😎

If you haven't already and like retro games I would encourage you to check out the homebrew scene here. That is what brought me here years ago. It has been amazing to see what people have done with the 2600 and 7800 games.

How dare you not include Intellivision in that statement!!

:)

Honest question for the group...

I've only played the Intellivision, Colecovision and Vectrex homebrew stuff.  And although some of the Intellivision stuff is a little hit and miss... overall... the quality is mind-blowing and amazing!!  Some of the coolest and best looking games for the original Intellivision and Vectrex are the homebrew stuff!  So my question is this...

Which system has the BEST AND HIGHEST QUALITY homebrew stuff?  I'm not a fan of Atari.  Never was and I'm still not.  Always personally disliked their graphics and controller.  That doesn't mean I don't RESPECT them and love the brand (the original brand that is)... but I just never personally liked playing the games as I either had better versions on my Apple II (and later on Colecovision) and just always thought Intellivision was so much better (because that was the system my parents saved up for and got us for Christmas).  I'm sure if they us an Atari... I'd probably be a fan!  :)

Anyway... back to the question... for those of you who know the homebrew community and are not biased towards any system.  Which system has the BEST AND HIGHEST QUALITY homebrew stuff?  Not "who has the most".  I'm assuming it's Atari.  I'm talking about the level of quality, fun and playability.  For me... it's Vectrex & Intellivision... but that is me never having played (or liking) original Atari stuff.

Discuss!

Any repeat items found in the founders would start to water down its value. The metal gift card to me was a huge perk. Maybe if the VIP one was only valued at $20 and only on a card ticket like what comes with the T-shirt.

I'm not huge fan of this idea as someone that bought into founders.

Yes.  That would be the idea.  A plastic RFID card that was only $25.  None of the other stuff except maybe the signed poster.  Basically the same price as the Founders Edition as well.  Only $20 cheaper.  So the Founders Edition would still be an absolute amazing deal with fantastic value.... while still giving the thousands of other interested folks something a little special to enjoy as well.  To me... it's a WIN for everyone.

Thoughts?

Welcome to the topic, The Atari Creep! I'm glad you join the discussion.

I also wanted to apologize: After reading your message, I now believe that your video "Anybody hate both the Atari VCS & Intellivision Amico?", which uses the caption "Both are CRAP?" in the preview and where you ask your viewers to look for opinions that say "fuck both of these things, they're both pieces of shit", was informative and not trying to be controversial. 👍

Back to the topic, I gotta say I agree with Swami: The new VIP Edition could be a great opportunity for thousands of fans who didn't get the Founders, including me. I don't understand people who have already ordered another edition being against it because theirs become less special. Why would they be upset if someone else gets it?

LOVE this post!  I hope @The Atari Creep responds.  I don't think there was any harm intended in either folks posts.

Thanks for your feedback about the VIP Edition.  And again... I just want to stress to all the FE folks... the VIP would be in no way similar in value and coolness to what you already have.

Thanks everyone.
