Noooo.

Lol

Just kidding.

I saw that one and he's great too but I will admit to rewatching that video and skipping to when you talk to John Alvarado.

I love that John Alvarado tells you he reached out for a job before you all were even hiring.

Also his reasons for joining were very pertinent and interesting.

Also his t shirt.

Also his review of his awesome app for the controller.

Sorry RxScram.

I can only be a groupie to one of you.

I'm Team John Alvarado all the way!!!!

😆

Solution:  RxScram gets his mom an AtariAge account.  +1 groupie points  🤣

I went through his trash and got some of his spare cyborg parts.

They are really state of the art.

Did you design them?

There are currently no plans to make online multiplayer part of the Amico experience. For a variety of reasons...

1.  It adds tremendous difficulty in the game development. It's "easy" to adjust for local latency from different controllers, but if you're trying to play against another console then the difficulty grows exponentially.

2.  It is impossible to ensure the safety and family friendly nature of the Amico if multiplayer connection to somebody else is allowed. Even if actual communication isn't allowed, something as simple as a username could contain something that wouldn't be family friendly. I'm sure Intellivision would try to screen that out, but why risk it?

3.  It gets away from the mission... bringing people together in their own living room.

I for one am very saddened to hear this. :( And many of my online video game friends are bummed as well.

But, I would also imagine that the cost of setting up and maintaining multiplayer servers would be a very expensive endevour for a relatively small company and a console that has yet to realize it's true potential.

Here's hoping that the Amico is a huge success! And we can all look forward to future growth and expansion!

Yes, but if we receive it even earlier, all the Founders could warn you if everything is going well or not and help you ! 🙄😆  lol

I am serious, but more seriously, a week before sounds good. We should have it 1 to 5 days before launch, depending of where in America !

In Europe, I am not sure how long it would take ? At least 7 days !?

And at least 14 days to Australia.  Sometimes up to 20 days.

Hahahhaa!!  You must be an east coast Italian like me then.  :)

Yeah... that video went way too long... but I did want to go over every tweet and the timeline of each one in order to 100% prove my point and leave no room for interpretation.

I think it really says a lot about their true character when a response video like that was made... and instead of calling a truce or wanting to discuss... they instead doubled down on everything and make fun of me because I made that video.  Of course everyone knowing that the reality is they didn't want to acknowledge it because they know I'm right and it proves that they lied.  Watching Ian in that last video was very telling about how personal they are trying to make this and how pissed off he is that we dare try to put out a video game system.  He doesn't get it... and he probably never will.  Neither of them have wives, families of their own so they don't understand the big appeal of what we're doing.  The very obvious and simple mistakes they make are the following.

1.  They don't understand or grasp that (aside from Jackbox) people are not able to play mobile games with each other in the same room.  They truly have zero concept of this most basic knowledge.  I'm assuming it's because they never play mobile games... but even if you don't, you would think you would be able to grasp the idea that mobile gaming is solitary.

2.  They actually think that the Nintendo Switch is a very accessible and easy machine to play and that all families are already playing it.  How many times have you heard Ian try to mock us by saying "FAMILY!, FAMILY!, FAMILIES!" over and over again.  He mocks up because of our family message and actually thinks that Nintendo has already captured this audience and no one else should dare try.  How dare we try to do something different in that market!  It upsets him greatly to the point of ranting and getting all red in the face. His awkward on camera hand and finger moments start to shake even harder.  Really bud?  It bothers you that much?  Lets be honest... you lied about me from the beginning saying that I attacked you,  you refused to speak with me so I could give you more info on what we're doing (they still don't understand!), I proved you were lying from the start and now your ego can't handle it so you feel the need to double down on everything.

3.  Graphics - They can't grasp the concept that non-gamers and casuals care nothing about graphics.  It's more about the FUN and PLAYABILITY.  Again... very simple concept that is shameful that self-proclaimed retro enthusiasts don't comprehend.

So yeah... just remember all of this the next time you listen to them.  Keep in mind... when they were discussing Amico they admitted that they made a lot of money when they were bashing the Coleco Chameleon "it was the height of our channel!" they gleefully spouted.  Yeah... we get it.  The more you lie and bash us... the more money you make.  And how much is YouTube paying these days for your views?  About 10,000 views on average... hmm... that's almost $10!!  Good job fellas!  Hope it's worth selling out the passion of the retro community for the extra $100 in your pocket this year.  Shame on you.

I'll let your console do the talking, and I think it's going to shout a few things!

They and many others need to learn it's not all about hard-core gaming anymore.  My daughter (19) has a switch, plays all of 3 games on it... Animal Crossing, Mario Cart and Zelda.  My nephew (21) has a PS4... CoD and Sports.  It all depends on the player and what they like.  For someone to claim one system is better than the other is simply ignorant.  It's all about what each person wants out of a game.  Me... high end PC... Skyrim SE and  DCS World.  That's it other than the Retro stuff.  So, I'm no expert... but these guys need to be schooled on what gaming really is all about.

BTW... if you don't know what DCS World is ...  not plugging it... it's more about my point that gaming has MANY level and MANY interests per level.  It's not just what two guys yapping on and on about NES stuff.

Yes... born and raised in Long Island.  Lindenhurst to be exact... Pat Benetar's home town.  My oldest cousin went to HS with her.  My last name is a common household Italian table cheese... NOT Parmesan... LOL!

I just watched Pat and Ian’s video again when they talk about playing all of these games on your phone, I realize they must have no family or friends to play with. It’s makes me more sad than angry at this point as they don’t seem like happy people. This is not a normal review reaction. They seem to think that playing skiing for example on your phone is the same experience as playing with 2,3 or 4 players on your tv and sharing the experience with family and friends. (Not to mention high scores) If I download a skiing game for $1 on my phone, I will play a few times and that’s it because I like my gaming to be a shared experience and I have no motivation to keep playing (They don’t like when anyone says family and friends ...lol) They need to take their time and think about what they say. The same goes for all of the games they say “I can play this on my phone” think....think .....think about this instead of just being angry. If the system is not for you That’s fine but a review should be fair and your anger was showing before you began the review. Enough said !

Loved Pat Benatar growing up!  She is one of my all time favorites, but the funny thing is that once I finally made it to one of her concerts, I left an even bigger Neil Giraldo fan. That guy oozed cool on the guitar!  Haven't been to too many concerts in my life, but have made 3 of theirs, 1 of which was in a tiny venue (all 3 were well after the peak of her popularity)

How many players can play Skiing at the same time? Might be fun to see who gets to the finish line and who bumps into to the trees..

I believe Tommy said up to 4 players. Sounds like a party !!

Hi Tommy,

Any plans for Amico to include ability to communicate with IE directly via the console; such as ability to respond to IE generated polls, submit game (and maybe later hardware) reviews, submit simple 5 star game rankings for IE collection in order for IE to advertise each games average user ranking, etc.?

Also, any chance you are teaming with Big Head Games out of the UK?  They did a real great lunar lander type game called Retro Cave Flier (now called Retro-X) that had great polish, but they never put it back on the ios app store after Apple went to 64 bit; at least in the US (looks like it’s still available in the UK). Was a great game with lots of attention put in to it and played as good as it looks.  Especially loved how the landing struts deployed when landing.

Here’s a link should you be interested - http://www.bigheadgames.co.uk/game/retro-x/

Take care and as always, thanks for all you and your team continue to do!

Maybe the whole game is "Where the hell are we???", and all the players are scattered about a crowded old winding city like Marrakech or Moscow or Tokyo, you never see your avatars on the screen; just an overhead bird's eye view of this great city brimming with unique features, and you try to find where everybody is in just a short period of time of blindly bumping around, and hearing the sounds from the street as clues coming from each controller.  Sounds like Mom's near a fruit market - looks like there's a few markets on the map, but I think I heard ducks in a park too?  She's probably in that upper right corner.  Dad had a lot of traffic and honking on his controller, and it sounded like an ice cream vendor was hawking his cones - he's probably over by the big plaza.  Maybe you can hold up your controller to take a "picture" and you get a street view of where you are on your touchscreen to help a little.  One picture per round so you have to be choosy about where you are facing when you choose to take a photo.  Could be a really interesting group-solving party game, with hand drawn scenes like we saw in Safecracker, and you can keep adding more and more maps so it doesn't get stale.

This is an excellent idea for a game, if perhaps not for the Amico. I wish Google Maps had a "Random" function that placed you in an unknown street or road that could be anywhere in the world. There must be a way to play this "game" by yourself using the Google Maps API or some random URL generator programmed in Visual Basic. If not, you can always have a friend or family member choose a mysterious location for you. Once there, the only problem would be how to ignore Google's onscreen indication of your address. 🧐

I mean, think about it: Street View, random location, no text indications, try to find where the fork you are. It sounds fun, right? It's like an ultra advanced version of the early "3D" labyrinth games. 🙃

With everything going on in the world, the physical copies, which are already drastically shrinking, will die even faster than expected.

But a glimmer of hope is on the horizon. Physical copy from Intellivision Entertainment for Amico !

We don't know everything yet, but it's intriguing and could be very interesting.

If the announcement is not yet officially made, it is probably to avoid giving ideas to others !?

So if it is, and it works, a few others could decide to do something similar, then we could add a few years of life to this support ! 😀

I like the idea of physical. The status of these mean that we will lose many games once those servers go down. But if it's a physical game that requires internet to download you still run into the same potential problem. :(

the physicals will still be collectible but possibly not in way of I want to play this game like we do with carts. 🤷‍♀️

1.  Controllers & set-up:  You mentioned that anyone can just hook up an Xbox controller and play on their TV.  That right there is a non-starter for most average people.  They hate modern controllers and the fact that they can't just play right out of the box is a huge problem.  Think of all the steps the average person needs to take in order to get Android TV up and working and controllable.  Much different than just hooking up an HDMI cable and plugging something in.

hi tommy, thanks for the response. sorry it has taken me this long to respond. i will try to make my responses simple and quick. I think in this way it will be easiest to respond and i will not come off as a hater. these are common arguments and i also feel them too so I will go ahead and post.

if the TV comes with a controller then you have a system that is doing exactly what the amico does on a TV. many of the games are more polished and more visually impressive than Amico which is not a TV even. no console required. the only thing you are saying that makes amico different is that it comes with controllers out of the box at this point. that is not a good pitch. you must have more to say on this that will convince people. as of right now you are just relying on uneducated people? you can also buy a simple android TV remote for the games no tan xbox controller.

On 3/21/2020 at 11:40 AM, Tommy Tallarico said:

2.  Graphics:  You mentioned how much better the graphics look... but what we're doing (and the people we're attracting and selling to) don't care about graphics... and quite frankly PREFER things are more simple in nature.  This is an absolute fact that we have proven time and time again in our focus testing.  You'll notice in our trailer that the more arcade or "gamer" style games do have more detailed graphics (Night Stalker, Armor Battle, Astrosmash, Breakout,  Auto Racing, etc.).  But games like Shark! Shark!, Skiing, Cornhole have the graphic style pulled back and more simple, colorful and not as detailed.  We are doing that on purpose and for a reason.  We understand the data and research and it makes sense.  You put a photo realistic bowling game with an Xbox controller next to a bright cartoony one with a simple controller... and which one do you think the non-gamer or grandparent will pick?  I know the answer.  :)

i dont think this is true. if you take off your salesman hat (which is hard to do as president I know i mean no offense) i think that people will see these games as very old looking outside a core audience of amico fans. they do not look as good as even the fish in the dave n busters games. again it is another reliance on very uneducated people it seems. thats not a good look for amico. and my point was not about that people do not care about graphics, i think you may have misconstrued. some people do not care about graphics, that is true, but some people do.

my point was that even these low effort cheap android tv games look better visually and effects wise. that is not really excusable for a dedicated console with exclusive games.

i will admit skiing looks good but HORIZON CHASE looks 10x better than anything shown in that trailer and is an arcade racer perfect for amico. amico should be able to match HORIZON CHASE at launch. if not already. it has not shown that level or anywhere near.

i think a grandparent will take cartoony or realistic bowling. it doesnt matter to the grandparent if they see what is happening. they just care about how easy it is to understand. i googled and there is no market research on cartoony vs realisic bowling so this is just your opinion versus mine. general game feel / easy to control. but if you have a game with jpgs of balls vs a game with realistic 3d balls one makes your system look good and one doesn't. saying some people don't care if you use jpgs of footballs that are static images vs highly detailed footballs that bounce is not a good answer.

i hope this was clear i tried to be fair and accurate in my assessment. your answer is not necessarily everyones, as president you can say "no one cares if its bad graphics" but consumers do care and cared with wii.

this will seem very harsh and i am sorry tommy...

the wii you talk about has the game wii sports and the graphics and gameplay looks better than anything on amico... from 2006. cornhole is coming close but still missing the mark.

so i ask as the console you reference 99% of the time

can you match the wii's graphics? if so, show us. we have not seen it.

i am sorry again i promise I am not a hater. these are not easy pills to swallow or questions I ask and I realize this but the truth is wii itself did not have phone or android tv level games that were considered anything other than shovelware. that is not a console with the games you want to make.

you said you want an animal crossing game on Amico in the thread

your system has not even shown us it can play a game like mysims for wii yet. so if you want the wii's audience you need a system that can do what wii can do. CAN amico do this Tommy? show us a demo.

Wii My Sims Kingdom

if it cannot you are in trouble because you cannot capture the wii's audience you want. enough said about this sorry for dragging it out.

3.  Playability and design:  I went through every trailer on the link you sent and with maybe the except of 1 or 2 games... there isn't much for a non-gamer there at all.  The library is very much focused on hardcore gamers.

sorry this was an epic fail on my part.

I posted that list to ask if amico can run games like this or if exclusives on amico are shaping up to that quality level.

i should ask you this because it is being seen a lot by your nemesis Pat and Ian (I refer to them as one person lol)

when will we see amico quality at this level? are any games shaping up to this level?

On 3/21/2020 at 11:40 AM, Tommy Tallarico said:

4.  Co-Op:  Out of that library in the link... I didn't see much couch co-op.  And would they need to purchase 4 Xbox controllers in order to play with tactile feedback?  Or do they have to control everything with just their phones?  Not the greatest for the types of games they are showing.

tommy the biggest hit on wii was wii bowling which was a take turns game while people watched and had fun. it wasnt the co-op that drew people in. the second hit was Mario Kart Wii. again epic fail on my part i meant to use that link to ask about quality mainly.

do you have a kart racer or any plans for one?

Anyway... those are my thoughts as to why we are so much different than something like Apple Aracade/TV and Android TV.  I personally don't think that non-gamers are going to be drawn to something like that.  But they will be drawn to Amico.  But hey... I'm clearly biased... so interested in hearing from others in here what their thoughts are.

sorry that is a good salespitch but it is not what many are finding. most are finding non-gamers loving apple arcade. this is a good article you may not have seen puzzle games, word games, etc. that non gamers are loving.

it pains me to say bu these are better than what amico has shown us too.

https://www.bustle.com/p/what-games-are-on-apple-arcade-even-non-gamers-will-have-fun-with-these-18791520

finally after feeling like a blunt asshole,

in the end I am buying an amico day 1 and will support you because you are awesome and i hope you will take these tough questions to the team. i know tyou do not have giant budgets and are wanting to make something good but outside of the people ITT you are not impressing many people.

i am not impressed but i am buying this to support you and your team. i really hope you will impress me or at least show you are delivering wii quality/level games.

👍 keep up the hard work and i may resopond may not, do not want to derail the positivism. but thats me lol

I totally agree. I'm all about physical collecting. The fact Amico has that option is really making me want one even more. I would buy an Amico and buy physical media just to support the concept. It seems to be dying but not as fast as people had expected.

I think physical sales still account for something like 50% of all sales.

If the collections are physical statues that just makes it that much more appealing. I am tired of cases on my bookshelf that don't actually add anything to my room or look impressive themselves. When I buy a game like Earthworm Jim I want to see Jim and be reminded I own that game, not just see it when I look under E on my shelf.

We need Amico as soon as possible ! Everyone is going crazy right now ! Victor Lucas had a great idea. 10 Best multiplayer to play while in Quarantine ( 5 recent games, 5 classic ).

But some problems :

1) Some are for Hardcore player, so family will not play a long time !

2) Violence with blood, etc.

Listen to this 5 seconds clip from the video. ( I really really really like EPN and Victor Lucas), but it shows what society has become without realizing it. lol

More as the years go on, is it normal to think like this ??!!  (Not everyone but many people !)

Speaking of her child playing Golden Eye :""First head shot, only 8 years old, I was so proud of her !"  lol

Amico, you have to be in all our houses on October 10th of this year, no matter what ! 😉

It is something we are going to be looking at after launch and probably in year two or three.  We first need to establish the machine as a CO-OP in person experience.  I don't want parents to purchase it and then have little Johnny never play with them because he hoards it in his room and plays online all day with his friends.  You also then need to deal with parents worried about who their kids are talking to online and how toxic the environment is.  I would NEVER want that on Amico.

If the majority of folks who purchase the machine would like an online component... then we will look into doing it but it would be more set-up like Facebook in that you would need to Send or Accept an invite from someone you know in order to play.   I'd love to play my brother Mike in Baseball or Utopia from across the U.S.!   But not something we want to do for launch as it doesn't match our messaging.

I would love to be able to play friends online, like you said...your brother across the country.  I am all for your playing in the same room with family and friends model, all for that and love it, but online with friends down the road would be a great addition, in my mind.  I have never been into playing random people online and rarely ever do that.  Gaming to me is a social thing with friends and family, since I grew up in the original Intellivision era.  We would play outside and do other things in those days, but would also find an hour or two for gaming with friends, especially on rainy days or during the winter.  Would love to hunker down and play with friends over.  Great memories.  So I would love to be able to play Intellivision Amico games with friends online, down the road.  I just so wish we had it now!

Yo,

No worries.  Not every game is going to be for everyone.  Consider that although you found and liked Trials Fusion (me too!)... most casual folks may not have.  And a LOT of people from our generation have very fond memories of Evel Knievel.  You should see some of the e-mails and social media messages we get!  People LOVED it and it brought back so many fond memories of their childhood.

I'm sorry that you were underwhelmed by the trailer... but honestly... I think what we're offering is very difficult to capture in a gameplay only trailer.  This is exactly why the next 2 MEET AMICO trailers coming over the next 10 days will show off what the controllers can do in a group setting.  People who don't play video games or just mobile gamers loved the trailer and thought everything looked great.  You referenced getting Xbox One with Forza Horizon 4... graphically epic game!  Love it!  But you can't race with 4 people in the same room at the same time.  And don't forget needing 3 more controllers.

Thank-you for your honesty and hoping we do well!!  It really means a lot.  I hope I'm not coming across as trying to debate you or say you're incorrect, etc.  Not my intention.  Just wanted to give you my thoughts as well (although of course skewed and biased!)

:)

Thanks for engaging!

100% no worries Tommy!  Thank you for your reply and you are most welcome for engagement.  I appreciate it and definitely you bring up some very good and solid points.  I look forward to seeing more trailers and information in the days to come and wish you, Intellivision, and the Amico the best.  Take care and for the record you did not come across as trying to debate me in anyway shape or form.
