The FE and VIP editions essentially have this (but with more than just a single game) with the included RFID gift cards.  I suppose they could just throw a $5 or $10 RFID card in every box.

Yeah... that would be easier.

Hi!,

Thanks for the question.

I like the idea... but would cause a bit of a problem with the different licenses and royalties.  We have thin margins at the beginning that we need to be super careful about.  That is why the FE & VIP Editions are such a good deal initially.

Easier to add an RFID card (from a logistics standpoint).

I for one don't want to choose and download a game when you first turn it on.  I'm looking forward to a machine that is ready to go as soon as you plug it in. No need to connect to the internet first. No need to scroll through a store and download something before getting to play.  Just a machine with a few pre-loaded games that I can jump into right away.

That being said, we will just be able to turn it on and start playing, right?

I don't know if you haven't plugged in one as well, but I'm afraid it couldn't; Wii's resolution was only 480p (or 576i). 😅

So yeah, Amico games can look better than Wii games, but then it's a matter of art direction, and it's highly subjective indeed.

Sorry... yeah... my bad.  FIXED!  Partial typo... partial brain fart.  :)

But proves my point even more!

Yes... art is highly subjective for sure.  I personally didn't like the art of the screen shot he chose as something he was hoping to see on Amico... but I respect the fact that he likes it and why.

Heck yeah!

Non-gaming mom needs it to be up and running within 5 minutes of taking it out of the box.

How long does it take non-gaming mom to set up a Switch? (if ever... they typically just let the kids do it).

I think the Amico's art direction is turning out great. It has a edgy style with some attitude. Definitely some SEGA era DNA there.

I'm much more interested in the Amico games than what you posted.

To me the Amico team has knocked it out of the park with it design choices.

I agree!  (but of course I'm biased).

The argument back would be... "But you're a Gen X retro gamer in an Intellivision thread so of course you're going to say that".

But my point back would be... But it's just not Gen X retro gamers... it's non-gamers and casual gamers who appreciate our simple yet refined/unique/stylize/uncomplicated art

And of course we have the data and research and focus groups to back it up.  But not only that... so many of you have said they've shown non-gamers or casual gamers the games/trailers, etc. and they all enjoyed the graphics.  So it's not just our Intellivision research.  Most folks here know the real deal.

Ok, here's one.  After watching the trailer with Safe Cracker game, my wife was wondering if there would be an escape room-like game.  Our daughter loves them and they're more fun when playing with a group.

Yes!!  We have one that we've been talking about!  Not in production yet... but think it's a GREAT idea!!  And really promotes GROUP play!

one thing many people don't think about when watching the game demos is just how cool these games are going to be when we get to hear the sounds..so far we have heard the sounds in Night Stalker and that adds to the game immensely..i can't wait to hear what some of these games will sound like

Tommy, one more.  Just out of curiosity, do you have a favorite video game of all time?

Hard to say exactly which one I played the most (that's how I would personally classify best of all time for me).

So here's my short list...

Major League Baseball (Intellivision)

Super Mario World (SNES)

GoldenEye (N64)
Shadow of the Colossus (PS2, 3 & 4)

Red Dead Redemption (PS3)

Honorable mention:  Metal Gear Solid (PS1)

I don’t know if this is actually a good idea for a game or not but since the idea won’t get out of my head I figured best to share it.  This is a possible idea for a game that might fit in the edutainment category but what about a game where you and your friends do art and story for a comic strip maybe getting the ok to use the characters from Keith’s Making It comic strip you could do a 4 player mode where two people were doing the drawing and the other two would be in charge of the dialogue but all 4 would have to work together to make sure it worked right and maybe after each level you would see the strip in a paper and the popularity of the strip would rise or fall based on how the strip was received by the readers.

The Wii is much lower resolution, but it has 3D, as does mobile, which I think a lot of hardcore modern gamers are thinking about as missing, although a lot of modern games are not 3D. I think 3D started around N64, PS1 and Saturn. SNES and Genesis were also able to find ways to get 3D on a few later titles. Horizon Chase looks like it is spoofing 1995-ish 3D.

Oh oh Tommy is asking for more questions.

"Oh oh Mr Carter. Oh oh pick me"

1) How is John Alvarado holding up?

2) Did you take my recommendation and take him out to lunch before this crisis hit?

3) Will RxSram be able to attach more cyborg parts to John so he can fly or go to space?

4) What were the 4 or 5 games from last year's E3 that weren't working out?

5) Are those games on the back burner or are they totally in the trash?

6) What is the Snafu with Snafoo?

7) What are the top three games for Amico out of Germany that you are excited about?

8 )  You said of Fox n Forest "wait till you see the sequel ". Is that a phase 2 game ( meaning 2021) or a phase 3 game ( meaning 2022)?

9) Will you have the first Fox n Forest on the Amico?

10) You stated older Intellivision games will be a phase 2 or 3....will we see other system's older games around that time?  Will we perhaps get a retro market for older games in year 3 or are you wanting to stay away from that area?

I guess that's all for right now.

As always you don't have to answer.

Tell John Alvarado I said hi when you see or hear from him next.

Thanks again for your time.

🙂

I would play that game.

I love the idea.

And it would encourage creativity which a lot of games don't do these days.

Close.  The correct answer is "Joust."  But thanks for playing.

Also would have accepted FIFA '98 or God of War II.

And BurgerTime.  Actually, you had some great games.  I never had an SNES (as I was a Genesis kid) but I totally respect this list... except for Metal Gear. Earth Worm Jim is much better ;)

Thanks for sharing.

Oh oh...

More questions:

11) When will we see some Yars' Revenge footage?

12) Will there be a cooking game for Amico?

13) Have any of your upcoming concerts been delayed or canceled?

14) Do androids dream of electric sheep?

15) "Do you know how much damage this bulldozer would sustain if I just let it roll over you? "

16) When can we expect the OEB Pete collaboration?

17) Are you climbing the walls or chilling out?  Or both? (Not at the same time mind you)

He created John Alvarado's hardware (we all know John created his own software so that was covered).

So I'd say he's an amazing Hardware guy.
