Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Here's something that's been on my mind and I don't believe answered yet... How will the Amico's physical media register with the console? I know there was mention that there would be swag to collect (sounding a bit like Amibo figures for Nintendo that have NFC chips). Judging by the current layout it appears there is no slot specifically for this, but I think there could last second by re-routing a USB port from the back to the front, allowing the game to run from the 'cart' via usb like a hardware license dongle as long as connected. If this wasn't the case then there could be a generic slot the size of the 'cart' that allows a 'cart' to be placed there (making an NFC connection), and granting user ability to play the game. I only say this because initially Tommy had mentioned in a 2018 interview stating that it was all digital and now close to release date it looks still like that. Looking at the TG16 mini I think my second idea would work perfect.

This is a hardball question, but all out of love of course :) What do you guys think? Tommy?

My guess is that the physical media will be rfid based and will really just trigger a download from the store and perhaps automatically launch the game on subsequent taps. Essentially the same as taking your controller and tapping it on a friend's Amico, except the games are permanent vs the temporary share feature. Tommy has repeatedly hinted at different forms of media such as trading cards, keychains, and mini cartridges. RFID seems to fit for all these. Not to mention the golden tickets are using RFID for store credit so I could see this being a logical extension of that.

Yo!   I have a TON to catch up on!  Will try to do it later tonight or over the weekend.  So much going on!

All great stuff.  Can't wait to share more info.

The greatest thing from all the great stuff would be Tommy telling us they can work again from the office and that they can test everything related to Amico with their partners ! 😃

There should be a game on Amico where the final boss is Evil Pete.  Lol.

We have to maintain the games as kid friendly. Evil Pete is too scary! 😂

I love you,you love me.......

Just a little Six Degrees of Barney: Barney & Friends (along with Wishbone & Timmy the Tooth) were produced by Lyrick Studios in little old Allen Texas, pretty much where I live. They were bought and merged into HIT Entertainment, a Jim Henson company, which was purchased by Mattel in 2012. It always keep coming back to Mattel with Intellivision ;).

I can imagine each game's "cart" would be something having to do with the game: Breakout would be a small Brick. Adventure would be a sword, dragon, or chalice. A Yar figure ... ET could be totally cool if they made a cart that was a small replica of one of the one's from the Alamogordo site. (At one point I said to put Dirt from the ET excavation site IN the cart). A Demon from Demon attack.  If I remember correctly, Tommy has hinted that he wants to do something special for the collectors. A standard physical game can come in the shape of an OG Intv cart. Or the different iterations of the Console itself. Including a mini INTV III.   Have Atari games look like Atari Carts. or Mini Arcade cabinets. The fun could never end. That is just the Cart itself. What other cool collectible things could be included? Who knows?

All that does add up to a substantial investment for each different type of "cart" or thingie that is packed in. Driving the cost up per unit. I don't think mass 3D printing is there yet.  But still... It would be fun to imagine.

This reminds me of a simplified Carnage Heart, a programming game for the original Playstation that I loved.

In terms of pure multiplayer chaos, the old board game Robo Rally could really work well on the Amico.
