Hi everyone on atari age. This is my first time posting anything so I guess you could call me an atari age virgin, so be gentle. I wanted to give my 2 cents on amico controller and how great it could be, if used in the right way. I'll start by saying some of my favorite games ever are the Warcraft and Starcraft franchises. I don't know what genre their called I guess building Sims. Well any way some of them got ported to consoles and I couldn't stand using a controller over a mouse. This is where I think the amico controller could really shine. The reasons I hated a regular controller is that it was pretty difficult to pick only some of the troops when they were all bunch together because you were limited to a box. It would be great to use your finger to make any shape you want so you can select the troops you want while leaving out the ones you don't. Another reason I believe the amico controller would be great for those style of games is that you could click and drag spells. How great would it be to click a button and drag your finger in the direction of your enemies or allies depending on spell. To be honest it may even be better than mouse. I know some people might think that's crazy talk but we will see. I'm actually trying to make that type of game my self that I think would be great for the amico one day. It has a lot of twists to make it familiar to both older generation gamers as well as new generation gamers. While still having a lot depth without complication. I believe you can have both if done in the right way. So I want to wish you Mr. Tallarico all the luck in the world. Maybe one day we will meet. Also don't listen to all the haters and do whatever you can to make your dream a reality. I always consider myself a dreamer. People act like to be grown up you need to put those things aside but where's the wonder in that. Thanks for reading my rambles and I realize I don't have a question.

I have the feeling that, with only 25-40 games released every year, you're not going to see your dream come true. Not only those games are not accessible for non gamers, casuals, little kids and grandpas, but 4 player modes are impossible to implement without split screen, which Tommy says will not be featured in any game.

The most similar thing you're going to get is probably some plants Vs. zombies multiplayer mini-game in one of the titles.

Thanks intellimission for your input! What's great about forums is that their are many minds to throw your ideas off. Sometimes your so focus on your idea that you may not see the flaws in it. That being said my game still will works because theirs no need for fog of war because you only have partial control of everything. I think what makes those type of games I mentioned complicated is that they give you too much control over everything and you don't know what to do first so you start panicking. Any way in my game yes you build buildings and yes you build troops but you don't have control of the troops they automatically take a path to your enemies. Only thing you can control is the path they take to which enemy. But you need to do certain things to change that path. I don't want to go into to much detail because I don't want my idea to be taken. But I may have confused you with that selecting troops point I made. I just think that would be a cool feature with the touch screen. Thanks and all input is welcome.

Sounds cool. Let's see if Tommy wants to hear more about that new, secret concept for a strategy game.

By the way, speaking about troops and war... I'm afraid the Amico games are not allowed to include humans using weapons against other humans. So maybe you're still in time to redesign your troops as robots... or replace those guns with water guns.

I think a multiplayer strategy war game is a good idea.  Sounds like the classic computer game Empire or the Intellivision game Takeover.  Each player has a base city on a map to defend, build armies,  establish new cities.  It is war, but don't see why it wouldn't be rated E10+.

@mr_me I could be wrong, but I don't think tanks are the same as human soldiers here. I remember Tommy said that only robots or animals would be allowed to use guns.

For games like this you don't even see the guns or the killing, amies could be taken prisoner for all we know.  Think of the board game Risk.

@mr_me Good point. @ImmortalKing was talking about seeing individual soldiers in a war, but you can always remove the shooting animations and add a "PRISONERS TAKEN!" message.

Strategy/war games are probably my less favorite genre due to the complexity (I always say "I have enough strategy and economy in real life"), but if someone comes up with a simplified version it may change my mind.

No it's not army or anything like that my wording wasn't great it's going to be cartoony. Like one class is going to be circus with clowns some abilities will be like the water flower and electrifying hand buzzer. Another will be aliens with shrink rays. Another will be mad scientist with mutated creatures. You get the idea. What you think

I mentioned Herzog Zwei before once and I still think it would be great to see a remake of it here. H2 does have multiplayer and is definitely family friendly. It also has awesome music and is a lot of fun to play.

This question is gonna sound dumb, but just humor me.  Does the woodgrain edition have a white light around the d-pad (or whatever its called) instead of a blue one? Per this picture it looks white instead of blue.  I like the blue light better but I like the woodgrain console the best, this is why i'm asking

Yes it's white but the console has different colors for the LED.  For example, when playing games the lights will change color.

Yes in the photo they are using white but you can change the color of the led used in the menu to whatever available color you want

@Tommy Tallarico The Stream last night with Level857 was great. You and Vic have amazing chemistry and it was super fun hearing about the early days of EP. I'm excited that G4 is coming back and would love to think you guys might get back together for a ROTR remake of some kind.

It was that show (and you both) that sort of legitimized video gaming to alot of my non-gaming friends. Showing the devs as serious (most of the time :) ) people working on bringing their ideas to life was a side of gaming that people simply didn't know...until you two.

Thanks for the memories both then and those to come :)

One more question, when it says "Pledge 100", does that mean you are like donating 100 + paying the 279 when it comes out or is that 100 dollars a deposit and then you just pay the rest when it comes out?

It's $100 down and you pay the rest later.  Intellivision Entertainment will email you when it's time to pay the remainder of the pre-order.  Also, at any time you can request a refund on the $100 down if you decide to cancel your pre-order.

The Amico game would probably be a fixed a map view to support multiplayer the way they want.  The Amico controller would be great for these kinds of games.

@Intellivision Master was totally correct (the $100 deposit is subtracted from the total and is fully refundable) but I just wanted to add shipping and any taxes, import fees, etc. would be in addition to the console price (the tax man always gets his cut).

yeah a fun TBS is definitely doable on the Amico. Hell one of my all time favorite TBS games was on the Turbo Graphx. Military Madness.  I wonder who has the rights?

Here's a couple of cool ideas I wanted to share:

1) Halo Infinite was delayed too. But Halo Infinite was shown to its target market in its infamous state. Tommy hasn't shown anything to his target market (non gamers, moms) that could become a laughing stock for them. So in that regard, Intellivision Entertainment has done a better job than Microsoft (just as they did a better job than Google when it comes to having a clear mission releasing a new console).

2) I think we're doing a great job at ignoring the last video of the most famous Amico haters. Let's keep it that way!
