Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Thanks for the reference. It's hard navigating all these pages (almost 900 now). I am curious now about what these "accessories" are. We know it's not an Intellivoice component! As I understand it, there's the amico itself (master component?) and the controllers. I'm sure Tommy is focused primarily on getting the amico released so any accessories must be a later release.

What makes mobile so successful is that everyone already has the hardware, so the consumers cost of mobile gaming at that point is only the SW.

Tommy has stated that their goal is to have Amico become part of the family.

As such, my guess is that IE will be looking to increase Amico’s value by having it be more than just a video game console.

I believe some of the forthcoming Amico accessory announcements may include robotic vacuum’s that come with race cones that you use to set up courses, and you then control and race them while cleaning at the same time - they’ll be called Vamicos and will come in various colors and include head lights for those late night-time races.

There'll also be the pet petter accessory as they‘ll want to insure they’ve got the entire family covered. This one will be called the  “Amicat & Dog Pet Petter” accessory and will be sold at Pet Smart.

Of course there’ll be the standard Amicaffeineo coffee maker accessory and the home and security system accessory that will be named Armed-ico.

There will also be useful apps coming as well, including Phone Clone that allows you to answer your home phone with an Amico controller and A-massage-ico that uses the force feedback generators to turn the controllers into massagers.

By including these and several other innovative accessories and Apps, not only will Amico bring unparalleled value to the consumer, it will also bring IE several new and expanded revenue streams.

Here's an idea for @Tommy Tallarico. The game Fall Guys is one of the only modern games that interests me, but it can only be played online. Here's an IGN review of the game where the reviewer complains about that lack of an offline feature. So maybe Tommy can work on a similar game for the Amico, using an overhead view instead of a split screen, and maybe make it compatible with up to 8 players.

My Son and his friends love that game, and it is a hilarious one to watch.

I agree for sure with you that something similar yet of course a little different would be a smash hit for the Amico! 😃👍

He says there are 2 pack in games but it's really 6.

The dude is wearing a "My chemical romance" t-shirt. Can we really take him seriously?

Once again Atari has head-butted my inner Atari fanboy: They are actually *promoting* using the VCS as a Chromebox. First console designed to be wiped and repurposed out of the box? *sigh*

Just in case you were wondering what Tommy was up to on vacation - it looks like hiking Yosemite with the the wife and doggos:

And he's standing on that bridge with an Intellivision shirt on.  That's awesome!

Speaking of Fall Guys...

There's this very cool competition they're running, where the "brand" that gives the most to UK's SpecialEffect charity will be featured in Fall Guys as a special costume:

So far, the "bidding" seems to be $50,000. And all that goes to a good cause! How does that sound?

Is it wrong that I pre-ordered one? I intend to use it as a cool looking emulation box. Will handle way more systems than my Pi :D

You can spend less money and get a more powerful system.  So, if the atari branded case and joystick is worth the extra money to you than than it's not wrong.

The infamous "New Atari than Ataribox?" topic, AKA the Taco Thread, has been closed after 3 years and 1100+ pages.

I have the feeling this is the reply that made the administrators and moderators take the decision:

Quote

Tommy, I'm really trying hard to ignore you, because while I have my concerns about the Amico, I don't consider you an outright scam artist, like Freddy Cheesy, Mike Kennedy, Bryan Bernal, etc.  But if you won't stay in your own thread, I am going to keep saying dumb stuff to wind you up.  Because I'm positive that'll amuse me far more than the Amico ever will.

Basically, the topic had come to a point where many of the regular posters felt entitled to troll there, as this nice folk explains here. Lies about the Amico were common and, when Tommy appeared to clarify them, he was insulted or even threatened with trolling, as in this case.

I hope these forums become a better place and moving forward new users come here motivated with an interest for something, not with a desire to attack something (a situation that this now defunct thread appears to have caused).

Actually that is a great use and quite frankly so is a Chromebox or even an indie Steambox. However part of me was hoping for a true console rebirth of both Atari and Intellivision but it looks like Intellivision is the only one really trying to make a new console.

I agree with you.  I can (and have) build a rocking Retropie box with really nice looking cases from Retroflag that look like NES or Sega Genesis.  I don't want an expensive Atari case with a multi-game emulator.  I was hoping for a VCS rebirth like Amico.

Not sure why they are going this route, but I'm not investing in it.

Emulates 29 systems and plays well over 2000 games.... All for $120.

So I have to share this just because it was so funny to me I do get a kick out of Tommy’s sense of humor.  I don’t really do much talking with the haters who travel from video to video unless I am in a mood that day.

Wow, why are people so invested in this?  I am excited for Amico and check the forum every couple days to see if there are updates, but some folks seem so infatuated with this!  An idea for a distraction, just signed up for Deezer, a music streaming service that was recommended by one of my brothers, perhaps check that out.

Not too much Amico talk in here, but great to see Victor & Tommy back together again for an interview.

BTW the Level 857 guys are also releasing the interview in smaller 30 minute chunks if you don't want to start a 2 hour + stream.

I miss Judgement Day, and G4 in general.

Yeah I have that case as well as the PAL SNES one. They're great. I also have a Pi in a Flirc case with a PSX only build - 450 games :) Problem is, Pi doesn't play stuff like N64, Dreamcast or Saturn properly. The VCS will have enough grunt. I also LOVE The Need For Speed on 3DO - it's my fave racing game but I sold my 3DO a while back (kept the game, lol). Sure, I can play all this stuff on my Mac or PC but a cool, console looking box that boots straight to a multi emulator front end will be awesome. I'll still have the Pis to take to friends' places etc :) I was actually keen on the PolyMega... but then I saw the price. More than an Xbox One X!!!
