THIS. I cant tell you how many podcasts and Youtube channels I've unsubscribed from the last few months. Criticism is one thing....downright hate episode after episode is another thing. Gets too exhausting. At least now I have a more manageable rotation of things to watch and listen too :)

Yes, the negativity/personal attacks by those not into the Amico is absurd, honestly.  I don't care for Orange Sherbet but I understand that there are those that do and don't feel the need to post videos and memes on the evils of sherbet and those who make it and enjoy it.  I just choose not to buy that product and move on with life.  "Can't we all just get along?"

When the haters get tired of hating, and/or they lose the greater part of their audience, YouTube (and the world) will be a better place.

Thanks intellimission for your input! What's great about forums is that their are many minds to throw your ideas off. Sometimes your so focus on your idea that you may not see the flaws in it. That being said my game still will works because theirs no need for fog of war because you only have partial control of everything. I think what makes those type of games I mentioned complicated is that they give you too much control over everything and you don't know what to do first so you start panicking. Any way in my game yes you build buildings and yes you build troops but you don't have control of the troops they automatically take a path to your enemies. Only thing you can control is the path they take to which enemy. But you need to do certain things to change that path. I don't want to go into to much detail because I don't want my idea to be taken. But I may have confused you with that selecting troops point I made. I just think that would be a cool feature with the touch screen. Thanks and all input is welcome.

I wouldn't rule it out. I thought about this very thing too. I really love starcraft and the game could be a 2 player coop and a single player option.  Maybe a command and conquer game where your friend commands a certain color troops. We also have to remember the cpu in the Amico is still alot more powerful than the computer's that originally ran starcraft command and conquer games when they originally came out

Most of the people I know personally that are ripping on amico are still traumitized from the Ouya.  I am NOT saying Amico is comparable to Ouya, I'm just saying that most of the haters I know are using that as a reference.

do these people give shit to chefs about food they havent eaten yet because they got a bad meal once from some other chef?  just curious as to why people waste their precious time in life hating things they never tried, I thought most people grew out of that by the time they were 10 or 11, I guess not. oh well, they are missing out not us, so... whatev

@Tommy Tallarico or @RxScram, been playing a lot of Moon Patrol.  Honestly wasn’t a huge fan of the teaser, but the dropped level is a blast.  Thanks for the demo to hold us over!

Are the best recorded times online?  First time I cleared the level it showed a faster time on record...  What about high scores?  It said I broke a record, but assume that was local.

Also, will the Amico version include different gravities on the different moons?

Thanks.

Just want to take a moment to highlight how this simple, introductory little game has a pretty decent amount of TLC put into something as seemingly old-hat as Moon Patrol.

First, you'd think it'd be a pretty non-starter to just press the fire button and blast your way through the level.  It isn't.  Your front cannon recoils, takes just about a second to reload, and the blast has a limited range.  Fire too soon and you lose your opportunity to destroy an obstacle.  Fine, just jump over it.  But if you weren't intending to jump, it's a split second reaction.  Oh and jumping an obstacle is 50 points rather than 100, so your high score run is probably moot.

Second, terrain alters your line of fire.  Hit a slightly elevated bump and you think you will take out an obstacle with your shot (or be on the downward slope of said terrain) and you may be shooting over that obstacle or into the soil just before it.. oops.

Jumps have affect your fire when you land as your shocks absorb the impact and you realign, making it a little difficult to land that jump AND get the rock out of your way in that moment.

UFOs and flying enemies only have a brief fraction of a second when they align with your antiballistic turrets.. miss and you've spent your front cannon shot, making it that much more dangerous if you are taking too much focus on the ships firing at you.

Mines are discreetly placed (maniacally placed?) as you progress, lots of traps to memorize as you progress.. it's a challenge.

More than a couple Checkpoints are just beyond difficult obstacle courses (UFOs+jumps+rocks+mines with changes in speed needed).

We've seen one level.. a brief taste of the game.. a power-up (maybe there are a lot of others, I've only made it to about Checkpoint S), a little variety in the waves of enemies, ramping difficulty, change-up in the music as you get later, some thoughtful level design and placement - gratifying power-through moments and cautious lots-coming-at-you sections.  I heard this was just another Moon Patrol clone of which there are several so no need for it.  I was told by a casual observing podcast host how this looks like garbage.

I can't find all those "better looking" 'Moon Patrol' games in my App Store or cursory searches online.  There seems to be a good deal being put into this (before I even play VS mode, competitive challenges, or the Co-Op mode where friends control different functions of the rover, the in-between levels where you travel between moons).  This is a good little demo - something you don't see much of in games these days (free demos).. definitely a better game than other app versions of Moon Patrol I've trialed over the years.  This is a hefty Moon Patrol iteration, I'm excited to play it with buttons and see some of the tricks and surprises in store.  Well done.

You guys are missing the obvious Killer App in the room, while I do think the controller and the family friendliness is huge pluses, I dont think they are in and of themselves the "killer app", the " the killer app" I think is the game prices.  8 to 10 bucks for a complete no DLC game..  you kidding me.  Thats HUGE.  Thats do I dare say killer?!?

I also hold out some hope that one or more of these sports games is so damn fun, people will take notice...

I think you guys are doing a better job of making my point than I am!  Yes, 8 to 10 dollar games is huge.  I also think that pick up and play sports games could be system sellers.  It's hard to think of a modern baseball game that wouldn't put your family to sleep!  Every year before the Superbowl, I hook up Tecmo Superbowl and have a mini tournament with my family.  Even the non-gamers can figure it out and have fun.  If I tried to do that with the latest Madden, we wouldn't even get past the menus!  Just give us some pick up and play, fun sports titles and I think that might win over an untapped market.  Intellivison had the best football game on the market all the way up until Tecmo Bowl came out on the 8-bit systems.  Even the M-Network version on the 2600 was a lot of fun.

I think my point flew over yours 😳

I'd say the graphics of those games look awful, but the gameplay makes up for it. Endless creativity in Minecraft, Pokemon GO is really only interesting because of what it's based on. Without Pokemon, go would be crap. The difference here is that Amico games gameplay is so simplistic, to the point that they seem like they'd be featured on tablets geared towards children 4-7.

The graphics 'terrible'  compared to what? What are they supposed to look like? Graphics don't really matter if the games are good. Just icing on the cake.

Also Pokemon go is not about Pokemon as much as the element of exploring the AR world and having unique gaming experience. It actually was inspired by the game Ingress in 2013

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ingress_(video_game)

Also this system is very kid friendly and you will likely see titles that could also be on a kid tablet. Oh well.

I love the subtle Running Man and Rebel in the flames. My only question is, would Tommy put pepperoni on his pizza since he's vegan?

Now I want pizza.

In his new video about the Sega Saturn in Japan, Sega Lord X made a very interesting reflection about how video game fans are obsessed with sales figures compared to movie fans or music fans. This can be applied to the Amico: as we said a few pages ago, the console will still offer something new and fresh even if it doesn't sell more than 1M units.

That’s no problem, plus Tommy already makes his own pizza sauce ;)

Yeah, but it probably means that Intellivision will end up making less money than they spent, leading to layoffs, leading to the console's store going down, leading to the console becoming a brick.

That doesn't mean it won't necessarily have any good games.  The people who buy this when it comes out might have some fun playing some of the games with friends in their bedrooms.  I wanna buy one myself, but I don't really think it'll be a huge success honestly.  I'd be glad to be proven wrong, though.

I find this I don’t think it will sell to it’s intended audience thought very strange because from what I have seen I think we have a system coming from Intellivision that could I believe outsell the Nintendo Wii even though Intellivision does not have the brand power of Nintendo here are the reasons I think that way

1. A team that features just in the core group over 600 years of experience in the games industry from all different aspects of the business including high quality marketing people and while this does not guarantee success I would think it would be a positive aspect towards success.

2.  Part of the marketing team launched every Nintendo Console from NES - Wii/DS which includes two of Nintendo’s best selling consoles of all time, another marketing member helped get one of the best selling franchises of all time Pokémon off the ground, and yet another marketing member worked for Mattel a very successful toy company on products for their Disney property toy lines.  Why mention these folks and their past so high up on the list because of the success they have had in marking their items to their intended groups this will be a key to Intellivision’s success with Amico and they thought enough about that aspect to put together a top notch team long ago which shows how important they think that aspect will be for success.

3.  Unlike the Wii which fell into a hypercasual and non gaming crowd thanks to a fun to play tech demo packaged with the system but did little to follow up with the audience themselves leaving those experiences mostly to third party developers Intellivision is focusing on hypercasual players with 20% of their library being for hypercasual players who play mainly on cell phones or tablets currently.

4.  Intellivision’s focus on gaming together with friends and family will be a huge part of their success because that’s an experience that is not really offered much on the mobile gaming scene.  That experience should get people excited to play games with family and friends in the same room on a shared screen much like Wii did with a tech demo.  Families will also be excited for the educational games that will make up another 20% of the library allowing them to play games with the younger children they have as well, this will be enhanced by the inclusion of partners like Sesame Street Workshop.

5. A controller that is more approachable by a mobile game player the controller looks similar to a cellphone it’s a little thicker has action buttons on the top or bottom or sides depending how it’s held and a big movement disk or button the familiar design of this makes it much more approachable by people who normally don’t play games outside of mobile or tablet and that will make it much easier to have others pick up and join in the fun.

As a bonus for anyone who thinks that the Wii market is covered by mobile games and no room remember that the most recent release of Just Dance sold better on Wii after all these years than any other system currently available.  Intellivision has a plan for simple to understand and play (not necessarily easy to beat games) that are affordable digital games with a max price of $9.99 that are family friendly and entertaining for the whole family that on some games up to 8 people can play together.

As someone who misses very much being able to play video games with family outside of sports or fighting games where there are very few options on modern systems these along with some I’m sure I failed to mention are a few of the reasons I think that Amico will outsell the Wii
