Shout-out to @AtariSociety for the inspiration.

Whats funny is we've discussed how funny it would be to build a game around the haters. They could even make characters resembling the more know ones. Have similar names. It would be a high hit on the gaming community.  Just think of how popular it would become.

That is sooo awesome.  hahaha.  Love the Bob's Big Boy there too.

After my game Invasion Of The Cloud People on Spectrum Next is done... I actually plan on making a 2nd game and guess what the name was.... you guessed it... Shill-Aliens.  haha

For any 8Bit Retro-heads here... I am working on my 1st game for the ZX Spectrum Next... and yes looking up to the clouds for inspiration... The Cloud People...

Hey AtariSociety,

I liked your video about the Invasion of the Cloud People.  That was cool.  It's also neat that it's a game you created.  Perhaps it could be on Amico?  Wouldn't that be interesting?

Thanks!

And it is educational too!  Teaches kids about the different clouds.  ;-)

I have a new appreciation of this.  I liked it before. Watching it full 1080p... All that on screen without slowdown. Not bad for a mobile game.. LOL Seriously.. And this is a Pack in? I do have one question for everyone. Does the music change as things get more hectic? And is this the final music?

Yes, it's a pack in.  I would assume the music changes as things get more intense.   Hopefully it is the final music.

Definitely a crappy situation.  I noticed they are the ones that made the emoji charades that's supposed to be on the Amico.  So its on steam maybe thats the ones that gave them the axe? What the game industry needs is what the intellivision is doing.  It could start a trend that forces the other companies like Nintendo and steam to clean up their act. Thats the #1 thing I'm hoping the Amico does

Being on a team of a WWI sim developer, it's definitely not an easy road to face.  We've been at our game Wings Over Flanders Fields for 10+ years and faced our own challenges.  One if them being hammered by a Russian software company that tried to take our ideas and designs our from under us in thier game Rise of Flight.  What saved us is our dedication and campaign engine.  Our graphics are dated compared to sims like DCS and Flight Simulator, but our game is massive and if you're into WWI aviation history it's loaded to the hilt!  It's even fun to just fly the old biplanes without the combat aspect.

Indie development has a lot of challenges and the hope is always that you're picked up by a big name like Ubisoft, or Blizzard...but even if you don't, a lot of great games have been made by the pure enthusiasm of these small teams like ours.  We are a team of seven spread all over the world from USA to South Africa, Finland, UK, Canada and Australia.

Might as well plug the game here...

Here's some of my artwork in the game and how in depth we go to get it right.

All of this takes a lot of time and work...so sometimes you can't be in it for a fast buck if you're making a career out of it.  Most devs like me do this as a side job.  To bet on it as a primary is very difficult.  Long nights and busy days off to get all this done ... But it's worth it when you see your artwork on the shelf of a magazine rack... Lol.  That's me in all my bald glory holding PC Pilot in a store at LHR!  Hahaha.

Thanks for that.  I'm not looking to hijack the thread, but many of us here are from many talents and backgrounds.

If he likes biplanes, he won't be disappointed.  It's a very historically accurate sim and not for newbies.  Combat is very intense.

Its coming together nicely, but I do have one observation, I think they need to quicken up the debris fade out or color it differently. Since in some asteroids there are asteroids within asteroids which make you have to continue to shoot, it can be confusing as to just what is still dangerous and in need of continued targeting and which is harmless debris graphics.  IMHO there needs to be greater visual clues as to what is a target and what is harmless debris so as to avoid wasting time dodging harmless stuff. just my 2 cents

Having taught a physical science liberal arts course at a university, I can tell you the cloud part was one of the favorites.

I see a lot of rotation/wobble in and out of plane for UFOs and bombs. If IE is staying with this style, IMHO, I think the asteroids should be quaking and/or rotating/spinning a bit around their own axes - in or out of plane as well. They are basically sliding pictures now. Addressing the odd style mix again, I guess. As before, I know it is a work in progress.

Astrosmash looks nice. Gotta love the forking moon approaching.

Fun fact: If you were a child in Spain or other European country with majority of ZX Spectrums and Amstrad CPCs, chances are the most similar thing to Astrosmash you played were little games like Alien Break-In.
