Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

For sure!!    I was gonna do that one first, but the reality is that the dragon in Thunder Castle (as well as most of the art) looks much cooler in Thunder Castle!

Open to ideas from folks here as to what they would like to see on a Cloudy Mountain shirt.  Maybe keep it simple and just have the Running Man with a bow & arrow pointed at a dragon?

Or maybe there is a funny word or phrase we could add as well?  @CurlyQ any thoughts or ideas??

If I end up using anyone's idea, the least I could do is send you a few shirts and make you an official Amico SHILL!!

🤣🤣🤣

Tommy, you gotta have one of those annoying bats chasing the running man as well and maybe throw in a blob for good measure! 😄

After reading the rest of the comments, I agree about a world map, but also include the maze as well.  Something like a split-screen shot from this ad...

Totally agree 100%!

And one step ahead of you my friend.

:)

Actually... about 10 steps ahead.

🏆🚀

Then I am curious to see how it comes out in the end...

I think it's great that you share a lot of behind the scenes information and offer the people here the possibility to directly discuss everything with you. A lot of bigger companies sadly seem not to care much about their costumers' feedback and wishes. I hope your company becomes an "established force" in the business in the upcoming years but still keeps its indie-mindset.

Maybe for 10-10-20 you can produce a small fictional clip of a future CEO Tommy Tallerico in the year 2030 who looks back and gives a summary about how IE developed in the following years after Amico released.😉

Did you ever make it to the end?

Not yet, but only three more checkpoints, but next time I’ll not give up until I get to the end😅

Great game, but can’t wait to play it in coop and vs mode on the big screen👍

Chuck Jones lived near us in Orange County!  I met him a bunch of times in the mid 90's at the WB store at South Coast Plaza.  He would do animation cell and book signings.  Got him to sign a bunch of stuff.

Super cool dude!

Syd Mead (Tron, Aliens, etc.) lived down the street from me as well until he passed away.  Got him to sign my Tron poster and his epic art book.

Of course Wyland is another big Orange County resident (I've been to his house in Laguna a bunch of times and have lots of his stuff as well).

Lots of amazing artists in Orange County!

That's too cool, Tommy!  Chuck Jones always struck me as a fun, incredibly interesting guy that you could sit and talk to over coffee for hours on end and be rivited to every word he had to say (I'd definitely put Stan Lee in that catagory, too!).  Just a true genius and a talented man.  One would be hard-pressed to come up with Chuck Jones's greatest work but I'd have to put "Duck Dodgers In The 24 1/2 Century" and "What's Opera, Doc?" very high on the list!

We're fortnate to live in Orange County!  There's so much amazing talent out here.

IMO simplicity is the way to go just like the other t-shirts in the Amico Store. If you start cramming it full of stuff it's gonna lose it's appeal.

Here's a couple to get the ball rolling...

Tommy,

I watched the live stream.  Glad to hear some homebrew games will be coming to Amico.  That Reshoot Proxima 3 game looks cool.  Hopefully it comes to Amico.  That was a good live stream.  It was neat getting to see you with Gamescom.

I am not sure what kind of things you'd have to do with your body parts to get a license for Bomberman, but *THAT* would be a great game to bring to the Amico.

Iwas able to get my non-gamer-girlfriend at the time to play and play along with several other people on my TurboGrafx. Later 8-player Saturn Bomberman got a workout in my house. And then back to the Dreamcast, 4 players is just a really fun game, pick up and play without BS.

The game is simple to teach others to play because it's like life: your ability to succeed is inversely proportional to your ability to f--k yourself.

Couch co-op at it's finest.

*Actually I would love to see a guru like Óscar do a version of this for the classic Intellivision. :)

I just found out that Saturn Bomberman could go to 10 players. I didn’t remember that. Now I need to buy my old console back from 2001. 😀

I also think the same as Tommy said on the gamescom stream. I don`t buy games with pixel graphics that look like classic NES games. But if they look like 16Bit Games its something I consider to buy then. I play much more often for example the Bobble Bobble or Arkanoid or ... game on the Wii cause it looks so much better as the classic game and also more easy to get play them as scrolling and things are more smooth. I  don`t know whats the problem for some with the Amico Graphics. 2D Games on Switch, PS4 and Xbox One doesnt look that much better or?

The dreamcast version supports 16 players online.  Saturn bomber man 10.players with adapter for couch co.op

 I love Saturn bomberman

Well, I’m watching now. Either I got there too late, or Tommy looks really different when wearing an accordion and speaking German.

I don’t speak German too well, but I’m pretty sure the guy with accordion said the original Cloudy Mountain will be available on the console launch date.

Slight chance I mis-interpreted what he said, though.

It was supposed to be a secret but when Tommy starts up the Video Games Live concerts again in January, it will be with an all accordion orchestra

I think Tommy should do a Video Games Live show, but instead of performing the music from the games, they just play Yakety Sax over and over again with video games playing on the screen. Hilarity ensues.

So after a few different attempts to have my less-casual gaming then myself wife try the Moon Patrol Demo, I finally caught her at the right moment on Friday and she tried it; and - SHE GENUINELY LOVES IT.  She’s now downloaded the app to her phone and iPad and after about her 15th run through has beaten the level.  I’m looking forward to the good times that I am sure are coming with us enjoying Amico together (its already starting and Amico is not even out yet).

She previously has “endured” me listening to some of Tommy’s interviews and IE’s videos without head phones and seemed to understand and appreciate the mission of IE; but after Moon Patrol, think she better gets it all and is even more on-board.

Thanks Tommy and IE again for working to bringing a game console to market “for the rest of us”.

One note, for a family friendly console game, it did on a few occasions illicit quite the potty mouth from my wife.  Maybe some of the Amico games better come with a warning regarding participant language.

Looks like there is a minor bug with the demo.  After you complete the level, as the score is tallied, it shows your previous high correctly, but once it completes tallying, it replaces your listed high score with your current score and notifies you that you beat a record.  Thankfully it doesn't delete the high score as reported during play on the lower left.

Gamescon interview with Hans Ippisch [GERMAN]

Maybe Tommy can get one of his German friends to overdub these relevant Gamescon videos in English, since they are not very long.

YouTube already has a feature for this (although YouTube tries it's best to convert the language it is by no means perfect, but it's better than nothing).

On Desktop click the CC (Close Captioning) icon to make it active, then click the gear icon and select Subtitles/CC then click Auto-translate and then choose your desired language. When viewing on mobile unfortunately there is no option to choose subtitles other than German :( (iPhone YouTube app).
