Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Who was his partner?

He didn’t say that I saw. He did go on to say the prior project was revenue positive for years and it sounded like it was their backbone money producer. Now they are forced to scramble and try to move on to new projects as quickly as possible.

Just sucks when you are the small fish and are dependent on the whim of others for your destiny, especially on a single weeks notice. Without a base revenue it is hard to make it to the next project completion to restart that money stream.

Definitely a crappy situation.  I noticed they are the ones that made the emoji charades that's supposed to be on the Amico.  So its on steam maybe thats the ones that gave them the axe? What the game industry needs is what the intellivision is doing.  It could start a trend that forces the other companies like Nintendo and steam to clean up their act. Thats the #1 thing I'm hoping the Amico does

Finding with Moon Patrol that higher scores come when you are on your last life of the first set (no cash in of points) because you accumulate more points on the replayed levels.  For Amico’s version, hoping they either negate points accumulated on sections you have died, or give a bonus larger for every remaining life, then the number points you can collect in any given section.

@Tommy Tallarico It would be fun to see a live cam of an Amico playing music. Use the LEDs on the controllers/console to bump with the light. Think of it like a Virtual Light Machine from some of the older consoles. This would give us a cool visual.  Plus if you keep it on. It's a form of burn in testing. If you use your music, you can't copyright strike it. Every so often you could toss some fun Easter Eggs into the picture. Boxes. Physical media. If you show a TV screen, you can load up game play videos and previews. Maybe live play. I'm sure other, more creative people can think of more.

Who else would like to see something like this?

I'm going with -

Two Controller Boxing. - I don't want to use the Arms analogy. But something akin to that.

Curling. (That could be Retro Re-imagined as there is a curling came for the INTV). One person tosses the Kettle thing.. two more sweep. All motion controlled.

Runner ups - Bobsledding and LaCross.

Good call on the darts.

Funny. I just read a news story about shuriken machines in Japan. Perhaps an Amico darts game could also offer alternatives like shuriken.

Edit: original news story here.

Second that - really would be a nicely different spin (sorry) on a traditional golf game. Yeah I only said 'Frisbee' so people would know what I was talking about, never played but I read an couple of articles/news items - it seems to be getting more & more popular. Really cool to hear from an actual player. Seems like a great sport and I would love the Amico to be the 'alternative sports platform' for all of these popular, but non mainstream games.

Somewhat local to me a lady last year won her 5th world championship:

There is a pretty good disc golf game for mobile gaming called Disc Golf Valley.  This might be a good reference for Tommy and the team to start for developing ideas for an Amico version, with motion controls hopefully! 🙂

Inellivision Amico comes in 3rd to the XBox Series X and Games Pass Cloud Streaming at GamesCom - not bad for a console "no one cares about" (says some people 🙄)

The only issue I had with this whole thing is ps5  ot being in there. That makes zero sense.  Considering how Sony dominated Microsoft this current generation.  I mean not even in the running seems odd

I agree, but there has been this persistent rumor that the XBox is more powerful of the two and the PS5 won't have expanded backwards compatibility (so no new feature there), so maybe the Console Master Race crowd may be most interested in seeing the XBox at this point. Long term I think Sony is still going to win the key software battle and actually sell more units but more like 60/40 this time instead of 80/20. All of that based on their killer exclusive franchises (GoW, Spiderman, etc).

As far as Games Pass steaming, I actually agree that this is the most interesting streaming service for the combination of price & access to software titles (poor Stadia being like number 3 or 4). Overall this looks like the "what do you see as the most different and interesting at this point" category, then I think it makes sense.

Really appreciated the part where Tommy talked about the experience when you first turn the Amico on... you can actually play a game right off the bat (like the pack-ins or, I’m assuming, a physical version of a game if you have it) and then do a more thorough setup (like WiFi connection) later.

Having bought consoles for my kids in the past, having to do setup of accounts, patches, and what-not on Christmas Day is the equivalent of when some of us were kids and we couldn’t play with a new electronic toy because someone forgot batteries and we’re tearing the house apart trying to find fresh ones or figuring out which device we can steal batteries from. Kind of throws a wet blanket on the excitement.
