LOL yeah, in the interest of seeming somewhat sane, I avoid posting too often.

Tommy, I fully understand your marketing goals and philosophy and believe in it.  What I can't believe is the low standard of research from major outlets like engaget.  It gets to me like the crazies on youtube got to you for awhile, and I keep searching for ways to prove them wrong-which isn't possible. It's hard to imagine someone getting paid to be that oblivious.

Back to my hole!

Yeah... I hear ya.

I am from Southeast Asia and ironically heard it from PattheNESPunk. He was discrediting the system and I became curious on why he is hating on the system so much so I began watching your interviews and official videos. In essence he was promoting the Amico for free.

I'd be lying if I didn't admit the poetic justice of this.

I'll leave it at that.

When I posted this to our entire company... one of our art directors replied back... "For some strange reason, I can't stop watching this!"

Hahahhaa!

Tommy mentioned that if a physical version of Astrosmash comes out, it might contain the original version of astrosmash along with a possible extra level. This would be a cool idea for all of the retro-reimagined physical releases to give people  a very good incentive to pick up the physical copies of these games. Some kind of extra feature , level etc for every physical release would be awesome but especially for the retro reimagined titles ! Something extra that the super fans will appreciate 😀

and I’m hoping for old school color instruction manuals with the physical copies 😀

I should have said an extra "ship".  Not level.

:)

Oooh, giving an extra level to physical owners might upset players who miss out on the physical run. :skull:

I agree.  I didn't mean to say level... I should have said "ship".

The gameplay itself shouldn't be different.  But having the ability of a different style ship to play the same game could be cool I think.

Thoughts from everyone?

I am thinking like Battlefish.
Also I remember when Tommy said ( a long time ago it's true ... ) that Amico will not have DLC, Special Edition, Gold Edition, Extra Deluxe Extreme Edition, etc.

So I think it will be a bad idea.

Those wanting a physical Astrosmash can buy one, but nothing including new feature on the game should be add !

You can give cd soundtrack, artistic drawing, a cookie in the shape of a space vessel, asteroid-shaped gums, but not more gameplay value.

I already imagine some critics saying : "There's a cool new level for Astrosmash, but it's not included with the game included with the system !!! 😮

You have to pay extra bucks for a physical thing that the target audience for Amico don't care !

Intellivision Entertainment said they don't do things like Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo, but they are now doing the same thing !"

So please, no.

Thank you. 😊

Yep.

I agree.  A different style ship would be awesome.  Maybe it could have unique features or weapons.

I have a question that I may have asked before but I forget the answer. I have heard that you need the internet to access physical games for the first time. Is this true ?

Yes.  That is correct.  The very first time... but that is it (unless you would like to log online leaderboard scores).

It will stay on your hard-drive forever.  I know folks are going to have a lot of questions about this, but a lot more details coming over the next few months.

Thanks for your patience.

But what if I have physical game I want to play years after IE is gone ? I hope they will be around for years to come but the point of physical games is that you can play them without any need for any type of connection or verification ?

Don't worry.  We have that figured out as well.

If that’s the case then it’s essentially digital software . What if it’s 20 years later and your console breaks and IE is gone ? Isn’t that the one of the key points of physical media ? To play it on any Amico console anytime ? Maybe Tommy can answer this question.

We got it figured out.  Don't worry.

I know I’m the new guy here, but here’s my 2¢ ...

I’d like to see any game releases be identical, and I’m okay with differing price points for download versus physical media.

I’ll be the first to point out I know little about marketing and sales, so I’m okay with whatever TT and the crew decides. I just wanted to express my opinion.

Welcome!!  Glad to have you around!

nope, moving to very two weeks so we have more to talk about,  need more news to make it more exciting .  Once we get closer to launch we will go back to weekly, in between there will still be lots of Amico videos on the channel

Once you start to see all of the new videos we'll be doing... you may start going back to weekly!  Hahahhaa!

It is a very good question. It's actually crossed my mind a few times over the 2 years(?) that I've been visiting this particular forum. My guess is that Tommy will have our backs with something. What that something would look like, I don't know.

Some fun Possibilities:

1)They put the entire catalog on Archive.org for us to download what/when we want.  Basically turning it all into freeware.

2)They warn you to make backup copies. (And disable any anti-piracy it in the Firmware prior to shutting down). Then you can save them wherever you want.

3)Tommy has something up his sleeve.

4)We will all be playing the Amico 3 series X and will be all backwards compatible that will have many TB of storage that can be backed up and restored to our mobile phones/controllers.

5)As they are all flash games, according to some, they will be available on a flash games repository on the web so we'll be able to play them in a browser.

6)@Games will have an Amico Flashback that will have 100's of games on it and be compatible with the standard Amico Controller.

Take your pick :)

I have taken a few picks.

#5 is not one of them.

Are there any nice PD images of the Amico that can go on Wikipedia? I put up one that was common, but it still got flagged (although they had the original source wrong).

I'm sure CurlyQ could whip something up, with Tommy's blessing.

Can't you use any off our website?  Lots of good ones there.

I wouldn't want to do that.  I wouldn't want to give any distinguishing advantages.  Maybe different colors (which all the ships have already).

These pawn shops have tons of these games to choose from at the same price point.

Far cheaper when you consider the $50 used console entry point.

Bigger Problem: Price bloat has moved Amico into the arena of the Switch which is its #1 threat as the best reason to pony-up $50 more for a known winner by Nintendo.

Take all the time you need to get a quality product in our hands @Tommy Tallarico. I know this is your goal, we are all onboard with that.

That said? I can’t wait to get my hands on Amico!

that statement in no way implied what you are casting out there... the mention of anything these days seems to get a response such as this... how thin can a skin be that persons must always jump at anything that comes from a viewpoint other than that of androgynous agnostic neutral or atheistic bent... I notice the atheistic is always tolerated however... but agnostic is more neutral and might that be the new 'norm' even if such things are the exceptions and not the rule... must we all be ruled by the 2 or 8 percent... or half a percent?

Let's face it, almost all posts and mail on the web contain gender, faith, moral, ethical, or other mentions in them, even if it's faith in one self or the human condition... they could be anything from grammar, style to the pronouns used, or even the construction of a simple sentence in many languages. No where should a person be forced to be quiet and keep it to themselves or be silenced for such passing mentions, because at that point, even those who speak hedonistic-ally, aesthetically unpleasantly, or even atheisticly will eventually be silenced as well. Consider that what you said is far more gregarious than it needed to be and that sometimes we may be looking for implications that simply might not exist.

Well said Doc!

Tommy,

For one of your Amico videos, you should do a power point presentation.

Is the goal to put people asleep?
