Looking great!!!  Love the animation. Love the changing seasons.  Cool weapons. And we'll get even more polish? It's reminding me of a family friendly Metal Slug.  I can get behind that.  And a Physical game announcement!!! $20(ish) will be set aside for this day one purchase. Maybe we'll be able to download the soundtrack?!?!?!?

Yep!  We're doing soundtracks for a few of the games!

Night Stalker, Astrosmash & Finnigan Fox are a few of them!

Me too.  Maybe there can be a Captain Crunch type cereal for Shark! Shark!.  Also, Puffy could have his very own cereal, lol.

Frosted Wheat Puffy's!

thank you Intellivision Master for sharing! really impressed by the gameplay.

There were so many amazing reaction videos within a day or so of showing the footage.  So cool to see so many folks reacting so positively.  Looking forward sharing more over the next few weeks!

One of my favorite aspects of the original Intellivision "Cloudy Mountain" game is the distant scary sounds.  You can't see the monster (yet) but you could definitely hear him roaring or hissing!  That's what I'm hoping will be carried over to the rebooted Amico version.

If the Amico version has those scary elements, won't that place the game in the E10 category? After all, we all know how scared children can get.

Heck yeah they'll be there!!

E10+ category is totally fine for Amico.

Nobody but him cares about ambidextrous controllers. That's all he talks about!

The Amico controller is ambidextrous, which Tommy highlights in the Astrosmash demo. So I guess there quite a few people who do care about it.

I've never really given it much thought, but it is an interesting idea. Would I have been better at some of these games over the years if the D-pad was on the right? I don't know. I'm excited to get my Amico and find try it different ways.

Those elements seem cartoonish enough to not warrant intense scrutiny IMHO.

Yeah... we definitely wouldn't go all Silent Hill or whatever.  But a nice little dragon or beast growl off screen from time to time will definitely pick up the intensity level!

IE cares about it.  The amico controllers are ambidextrous and is a helpful feature for casuals.

@tripletopper At what point did you get to the conclusion that the Amico could use an arcade fighting stick?

There's not even a single fighting game or beat'em up scheduled for the platform...

Seriously, I'm curious: where exactly did you get the idea that this system would allow for digital controls in one single game?

As swami pointed out, you can't even play the original Intellivision games with those sticks.

There's lots of intellivision games that are eight directions or less and would play perfectly fine with an arcade joystick.  The Amico disc is pressure sensitive so something like Amico Astrosmash which looks like a 2-way control could have varying speed control.

I remember Tommy saying that physical media on Amico is 30% of the library.  Hopefully that could increase to say 50%.  I wouldn't be surprised if Tommy did in fact allow for more physical games on the Amico at some point.  Maybe the 30% was a place holder.

Yeah.  For sure.  If it's popular.  I only meant that at launch there will be about 30% of the launch library available as physical media.  Would love to see that percentage go up.  But it's up to the consumers to decide... not us.   :)

I would think it will depend on how popular and how well the first few physical medias do since doing physical media isnt without risk.  The beauty of digital distribution is that all cost are fixed and sunk meaning it cost me the same to ship 3 copies as it does 30,000. With physical media that all changes because now you add in a variable cost. Each game produced cost you money and therefore adds risk since if you produce 20,000 and only sell 10,000 you have to eat the cost of the 10,000 units not sold and now more than likely your losing money on this. Im guessing if they are popular and they keep the runs low and limited ( which assure they are going to sell out) they'll become a mainstay of the amico.

Bingo!

Nailed it!

I am going to bring up a @bigdaddygamestudio topic from a while back. Now that Finnigan Fox is getting a graphic update, is the developer going to add character shadows? I know in the original design it was an artistic choice not to (found that in some article as a quote from the main artist). However with the redesign is this going to be reconsidered or it is just a "Fox" thing they like to do?

We haven't decided yet.  We've gone back and forth a few times but think we like the overall 2D nature of how everything is looking.  Very cartoon style.  Bringing in 3D shadowing could ruin the look and may seem out of place.

We never did them with Earthworm Jim as it always looked strange.  I'm assuming we'll probably leave them out for FF as well.  But not 100% certain yet.

If you're going to own an Intellivision... You HAVE to own a SSVA..  but I'm biased.

It's like Coke vs Pepsi.  Same basic drink, but taste totally different.

Trying to get a really white one and unscuffed is the difficult part!

Good to know.  So, the 30% at launch are the 10 physical games right?  I recall you saying that there will be 10 physical launch titles.

Tommy, you need to have an easter egg in this game where if you input the secret code and you get to the checkpoint you can hear you say "Badger" like you did at the 2:58 mark of this video.

Hahahha!  Just listened back now.  I didn't mean to do that... but it was kinda funny listening at it now.

Tommy,

We need a Finnigan Fox T-shirt.  One with the logo, one with the character.  Or have both on the same shirt.  Like, put the logo at the top and the character right below it.

Great idea!

I have a little question. Who owns the rights to a video game?

The publisher, or whoever designed the game?

I ask the question because I found a game that could be really very interesting for Amico after some modifications.

It's a single player game, but it could be so exciting in local multiplayer !

Thank you.

For the bigger games... almost always the publisher.  But there are so many indie games out there now that typically the developer owns them.

For Amico... we have both.  It really depends on the situation.

I noticed he mentioned the amount of hearts in the game, I wouldn’t mind betting that is the max amount you can have, and it’s only like that for the demo, and when the game comes out you start with 3 and work your way up. 👍😀

You are correct.  We turned on all of the hearts and weapons for the demo.  You won't start with 10 hearts or all the weapons!  You'll need to purchase those from the shops in the game (with gold coins you collect during the game).

I think you are right. In the original game you get 5 hearts to start and have to buy the remaining slots, which is quite the money pit. Since the heart shop is still there I am pretty sure that is remaining. Also the original game comes with Easy, Normal and Hard modes and I doubt if that is going away too.

Correct!  We will have different difficult modes for this one.  May only be 2 (Easy & Hard)... but could possibly add Normal.  We still aren't 100% sure and are in the process of tweaking all that stuff now.

Tommy,

For the in game music when you do Sea Battle & Sub Hunt, maybe have the Crimson Tide movie theme play.  Of course you would have to get permission.  It's an epic piece and would sound awesome for these games.  The composer who did the music for the movie was Hans Zimmer.

I highly recommend an  Easy mode for sure as you would want as many people exploring all aspects of the game.  Maybe separate leaderboards for difficulty, maybe less points for easy modes in games, etc... :)
