Anyway, another ‘game’ Mum loved was Music 2000. Now that IS complicated but she’s into making electronic music so was a piece of cake for her. Definitely simpler than what she uses these days, haha.

She was only in her 40s then, haha. Crap... that makes me feel old... I’m 44 in a couple of months...

Wow, man... I'm several years less old than you, but your mum ROCKS! The Oddworld games and Music 2000 were some of my favorite games on the Playstation. In contrast, my mum saw video games back then as a distraction, a problem, an addiction... and today she plays mobile games every day!

Apart from the major games such as MGS, Silent Hill or Gran Turismo, other games I loved were the fist Spyro, Twisted Metal 2, GTA2, Driver and an amazing football game called Goal Storm 97 (known as Winning Eleven 2 in Japan and International Superstar Soccer Pro in Europe)... Yeah, that console was (and still is) great.

About the Amico, can anyone check the expectation that Sony, Microsoft or Google (and even the 3DO company) were generating 10 months before launching their first consoles? Surely, Sony and 3DO didn't have the Internet, but there were magazines... I will check some magazines and old topics in forums, but I don't think the hype was so high at that point.

It would be fun to see something like “Auto Duel” on the Amico. I think the new Auto Racing will be in one class of couch competitive fun, but something with a little light RPGness (maybe just 2 players co-op?) could also be interesting. One limitation of the original Auto Duel was disk space for the map and options within cities, but those limits obviously go away with the new platform.

Hehe a I’ve been enjoying it on the PSX mini but yeah, it gets bloody hard! Surprised my mum liked it, tbh....

Older gamers are use to hard games.

Not that I'm aware.  Typically new consoles are revealed at E3 in June of the year they are released (in Nov or Dec).

We still have a LOOOOOONG way to go in regards to hype though.  But it's great to see that the folks who are paying attention are liking what they see!  Always a great sign for things to come!!

Anyone remember Pit Stop for ColecoVision (I believe it was on a few other platforms as well).  Would love to recreate something like that.  Where it's not just about the driving.

Tommy on Friday after an announcement - we will be dropping another update this Monday... Amico fans on Monday drumming their fingers and wishing he would hurry up.

Meanwhile in VCS land after a spring announcement - we will be dropping another update this Summer... VCS fans on the first day of Fall, well it is technically past summer where is our update? (this actually happened)

Not making fun of you MarioMan88 - I am drumming my fingers too. Just couldn't help thinking of our less fortunate brethren.

So true! We wait and get real news, or a demo or a shop with actual merchandise to buy! While the poor VCS folks get “no news is good news” 😳

I am setup to get Amico announcements from all over the web and so I post them to Reddit whenever something pops up. Just looking back I have never gone more than about 7 days without something being posted. Looks like my average is every couple of days. Most of the time it isn't major news, of course; Tommy talked about the Amico in this podcast, Hans Ippisch is speaking at a game developer conference in Germany, Tommy would drop a little nugget on Twitter and so on. But there has never been a time when I felt nothing was happening on this project. Plus, unlike the VCS folks, I don't have a nickle in it (well, not counting merch purchases) but I feel like a top tier backer with the "backstage pass" option to get behind the scenes updates.

Yes it’s clear Tommy & his team know what the word transparency means while the VCS folks clearly know what evasive means.

I'm just gonna go ahead and leave this here...   :)

And you thought the surprises from last week were enough. No way! We're just starting to get going!

Intellivision® is proud to show off its exclusive version of Atari®'s Breakout® only available on the Intellivision Amico™ console launching 10.10 2020. Although the game will start off in original "vertical mode", it won't take long to utilize the full 16:9 aspect ratio and turn things sideways! Part "block buster" and part 2D side scrolling shooter, you’ll only have a limited amount of time to get to the goal and BREAKOUT! Will the player in the trailer make it to the end on time? They have 4 minutes to complete the task! Players can utilize the vertical touchscreen to control the paddle and (as seen in the trailer) can use motion controls (once a ball is hit) to angle, aim, spin and curve in the direction that you'd like the ball to go! And don't forget, we'll also be adding multi-player couch co-op and versus modes as well!

First released over 43 years ago in 1976, Atari®’s Breakout® arcade game was designed by Atari® co-founder Nolan Bushnell, and engineered by none other than Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, who would of course later go on to found Apple! Breakout® is lauded as being simple but incredibly addictive as you use your bat to bounce a ball off the bricks above in order to try and clear them all and reach the next level. Available at launch (10.10 2020) you too will now be able to take this reimagined arcade classic to the next level! Exclusively and only on Intellivision Amico™. Hell yes. I love Pit Stop II on C64. It's one of the games on the C64 mini too 😍

Dunno about the motion controls for aiming... but the rest of it looks just about perfect. Bringing the Arkanoid flavor back to the original brick breaker and giving you a reason to "break out" makes a ton of sense. Love the use of font. If I check out an Amico, it will be because of stuff like this.

Looks sweet! Can’t wait to play with family...reminds me of years ago playing with my brother on his Atari! He always warmed up his paddles by spinning them around before the game started 🤣

The motion controls only kick in AFTER you've hit the ball.  Think of it like "english" or a curve on a bowling ball after it's been released.  It's super cool!!

Had some time to finally check out the Moon Patrol demo and Breakout. I've been really looking forward to this system since listening to the launch event at PRGE.

Breakout looks great. This is exactly the type of remake I'm looking for: true to the original, 2d, and updated with extra features. Do more games like this. Give me a Nightstalker or Thunder Castle done like this ANY day.

The Moon Patrol demo you get via the app however, I was NOT a fan of. The 3d/2d perspective looks poor, and it plays like any number of iOS/Android app store retro 'remakes'. I'd advise against using 3d modeling to recreate older 2d games. It rarely goes over well with fans, and it looks like something you'd get with ads on your phone. Not saying 3d games don't have their place (they do, and I love 'em), but remaking classic 2d games isn't one of them, in my opinion. Just some constructive criticism. Dig the QR code like app functionality though. That could be super fun in the future.

Can't wait to see where this console goes!

Wow those sound effect integrated into the minimalist music track like a semi random drum loop - kind of freak'n genius on an audio level.
