Anyone remember Pit Stop for ColecoVision (I believe it was on a few other platforms as well).  Would love to recreate something like that.  Where it's not just about the driving.

loved Pitstop! yup stopping in the pit was so cool and unique back then

I'd advise against using 3d modeling to recreate older 2d games. It rarely goes over well with fans, and it looks like something you'd get with ads on your phone.

To be honest, that hasn't been what the feedback has been.  Quite the opposite in fact.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.  :)

Thank-you for your support and I'm glad you're liking Breakout!  Lots more stuff like that on the way!

For me it depends on the game. I think Moon Patrol would be weird with modern 2D visuals. TBH I'm not a fan of 2D unless it has retro appeal, otherwise it looks like a cheap Flash game or something (Cuphead excluded but that has cartoon retro appeal). Of course it could be cool with big, chunky Neo Geo levels of 2D sprite work and lots of parallax but I reckon it looks pretty sweet in 2.5D.

Myproblem with 2D these days is not enough people bother to do it properly. It's often all keyframed stuff and not hand drawn animation - there's a reason for that (time and money) but it also results in an unappealing result (to me, anyway). Same reason I can't stand modern cartoons. I'd take bad hand drawn animation over Flash etc any day, lol.

i was just thinking QIX would be an awesome game on the Amico but i don't know how you could make that CO OP

Cover the whole playfield before time runs out?

Of course, picturing a competitive version would be much easier...

Wasn't there an Intellivision game like that? About a penguin skating & breaking off ice blocks or something?

The motion controls only kick in AFTER you've hit the ball.  Think of it like "english" or a curve on a bowling ball after it's been released.  It's super cool!!

Does it "Tilt" if it's abused by the player?

Thin Ice, Duncan was the penguin's name. . .and I think there it would be fairly easy to do couch co-op with different surfaces, and maybe mixing it up so some players could be the seals or polar bears chasing the penguin(s).

Thin Ice is the Intellivision game you are talking about but I can’t compare it since this is the first I heard of the other game

Haha... no.  But you look pretty funny when your entire body leans into it.  :)

Just watched the Breakout video.  Looks and sounds amazing.  Not one of my favorite games, in fact.. I hated it as well as Arknoid... but have to say, this is a really polished and fun looking game.  Can't wait to see it...

So... Skiiing, Moon Patrol, Breakout... 3 of the 5?

Tommy said no Atari games included with the console, so that counts out Breakout. I'm guessing there'll be the same logic behind any licensed game so probably not Moon Patrol either... intriguing!

Breakout will be available to buy from the store not on the machine preloaded that would make them have to split console sell profits with Atari all the games for Amico will be Intellivision titles built in Moon Patrol and Breakout will be available on the store front

No.  Only Skiing.  Can't have any licensed games as any of the pack-ins or else we would need to pay a royalty on every single console we sold.  We wouldn't want to do that.  But Moon Patrol & Breakout will be available on launch.

This has to be the greatest ad I've ever seen, haha!

@nurmix, @Tommy Tallarico - I take it you've seen this?

Yeah... so great.  The laughing at the end is so epically disturbing to me for some reason.  :)   And that 1960's reverb on the voices.  Haunting.

:D

Intellivision is doing a pretty savvy sponsorship: The Mom 2.0 Summit

It is basically a networking & support organization for social media moms & influencers. Their conference is in May, a month before E3, and we will probably find out  more about the Amico's educational, party, motion control & causal games at that time.

Wow... so were seeing games that won't even be on the console for launch... that's even more to look forward to!

Great stuff!

Hi Tommy.

When Amico will be in our hands, how will you advertise for games to come ?

Will it be something like "State of Play" from Sony ? Knowing you, you will probably have something revolutionnary !? lol 😊

Thank you for everything :)   ( Being here, Merchandise, transparency, news, etc. )

We haven't dove deep into our exact tagline messaging just yet.  Still have lots of time before the summer (and lots of important hardware things to finalize first) but everyone seems to really enjoy our "Together Again" message.

+1 on "Together Again". Multiple meanings - Intellivision is together again, gaming together again (couch coop) and bringing families together again (the social aspect).
