Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Recommended Posts

As GrudgeQ pointed out (ya gotta be quick around here to beat you guys with my own news!  Hahhaha!) Intellivision is one of the big sponsors for 2020's Mom 2.0 conference.  This is the leading conference for "Mommy Bloggers" and "Mommy Influencers" across the internet.  I can tell you that the reception from influencer mom's so far has been overwhelmingly positive.  Since they put us on the front page of their website last week we have been getting tons of e-mails from interested folks wanting to hear more and commending us on our mission to bring families together in a way that they feel they are involved as well.  It's a very powerful message and one that is resonating greatly throughout the "Mommy Influencer" community.  Going to be a big part of our message and path to success.  For those who follow marketing... having "moms" is a really big deal for what we are trying to accomplish.

Here's the initial article they put on their website:
https://mom2.com/official-sponsor-intellivision-entertainment/

And here is a capture of being on their front page:

This has to be the greatest ad I've ever seen, haha!

nurmix, Tommy Tallarico - I take it you've seen this?

Oh yeah, good stuff! One of the Atari Ager’s here even has a copy of the original film - hopefully he’ll chime in here about it. And I’ve used audio from this in the podcast a few times.

I am just seeking revenge for all of those YouTube Tommy Tallarico "I'm First" comments ;)  Could also be that I am like Palov's dog who responds to social media alerts by posting them everywhere - one of those two

I wasn't aware of the Mom 2.0 organization, but talk about highly targeted marketing for a family friendly social media campaign - excellent choice.

Thin Ice, Duncan was the penguin's name. . .and I think there it would be fairly easy to do couch co-op with different surfaces, and maybe mixing it up so some players could be the seals or polar bears chasing the penguin(s).

You can hear all about the original Thin Ice in episode 12 of The Intellivisionaries Podcast , including my interview with three people involved in creating the game; Keith Robinson and Julie Hoshizaki (designers/programmers), as well as George ‘The Fat Man’ Sanger (composer) - who Tommy knows well.

Tommy, I will give you one of my precious Idea !  ;)  lol

Hope the picture is big enough.

So, one of the next thing you can do with Amico Club App is this :

Lets say it's time to have a small demo of Breakout. Cool, we are happy, but surprises are waiting us if the ball reach the goal , depending of where the ball touch the goal zone !

The user will have a new content he will have acces to ! In this example, we could have a first look at a teaser for Skiing, a trailer for the running man, a small demo for astrosmash or a behind the scene for Moon Patrol.

You can choose to have some contents to be harder to reach, by making them smaller, or having more walls in front of them ! :)

image.thumb.png.fe3195a2bd5bea16a99e5167c80684c0.png

Same thing could be done during your "Together Again".

Showing us a game in your video, lets say Lock N Chase.

Tommy is playing the game, and an Item appear. It's the face of Earthworm Jim ! (Sorry, no time to create this picture for now ! :) )
Viewers are excited, when Tommy will touch his face, we will see maybe a trailer for Earthworm Jim !!

But, too late, Tommy is fast only to see his video on Youtube, not to catch an Item in Lock N Chase ! lol

But another Item appear, and it's a fish ! This Time Tommy catch it, and we continu with a trailer for Shark Shark.

So with each game, this could bring a cool way for the next video Intellivison Entertainment want to show us ! :)

What do you think ? We can work with something like that !? :)

You're welcome.  ;-)  I didn't make the original film, of course, but that YouTube video is digitized from my copy of the physical 35mm film.

Awesome!

Speaking of ads - this is one for the first console I had, around 1981/2. Freaky thing is the voiceover sounds like my father. I’m trying to find out if it was him (hard to tell 100% due to effects and age etc) as this very ad could be the sole reason I’m a gamer.

EDIT: It’s not him. Carry on...

I was reading it "only" costs 5 million for a 30 second Super Bowl ad...would be awesome to see an Amico commercial in 2021..if it's not in the budget we have a year to raise it 😎

It could be an idea. I think it will depend on how many units will be already sold.

Maybe they will don't need it ! :)  ( And probably eveyone hope they will don't need it ! :) )

5 millions seems to be a lot of money, but selling Amico only 1$ more, they will break even with 5 millions unit sold ! :)

It might be interesting to know what Tommy thinks about it. I am sure it's something he has already thought about ! :)

Nah... I see Tommy playing the new version of MLB Baseball with Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee from Rush....

Hi I'm Geddy Lee... this is Tommy Tallarico and Alex Lifeson.  We want to show you Baseball! on the new Amico.  Camera switches to Alex and it's nothing but a long series of 'Blah.. blah.. Blah blah blah blah"'s.

Camera switches back to Tommy and the real show starts.... all while "2112" is lightly playing in the background.

Instant winner... LOL!

Any news when the golden ticket website is going live? https://www.intellivisionamico.com/gold

Will be ready and announced what to do (with instructions) by Christmas.  The Printful folks screwed up a bunch of orders and folks who purchased merchandise didn't receive their RFID cards so we had to start sending them out by hand internally.

Too complex for what we want to accomplish.  Thank you for the idea though.

If we sell as many units as we think... we'll be able to afford it!

A huge dream come true!!  And if not for 2021... definitely by 2022!  :)

Tommy, being a huge Rush fan, I can tell you it's from their 1982 album Signals.  Funny I never picked this out of the credits before.  Makes me love that band even more as they knew what video games were the best at the time!  Geddy Lee is a huge baseball fan.  Now that Rush are retired (unfortunately), I'm sure he would have time to be the "spokesperson" for the next generation Intellivision Amico baseball game...

The shout out by Rush is the only contemporaneous one I know of, but FWIW what I’ve gathered over the years relating to music is here

EDIT: Various links to external sites on that page may be bad. So much of the web has “retired”.

I got the pic from your site, but I remember reading this from back in the early 90s when I bought the first issue Signals CD while in College.  I thought it was really cool how geeky they could be and be proud of it!  Lol!

I'm sure it would hit a high note for many people having Geddy Lee endorse the Amico.  The fan base of Rush is massive.  The Blah Blah comment was a reference to Alex's RRHoF speech.  It took Rush and Yes a millennium to get in. They both were pissed about it, so Alex figured in his sarcastic humor, and made a great speech!  😂🤣😂

At any rate, can't wait to see Baseball re-imagined!

I know this is a dream & I hate to burst a bubble here. But Alex Lifeson suffers from arthritis. They had a farewell concert because of it (and Neil had some age related health issues as well), so I'm not sure how well he can still play.

Yeah, our hero's are at that age.  I have all the respect in the world for Neil Peart because he will not take the stage if he feels he can't play at the high level he is used to playing.  That being said, there is nothing from stopping them from doing a plug for the Intellivision Amico, bearing Alex's arthritis. 😉
