Some quick questions :

1) Will it be possible with Amico to have some kind of stats about how many hours are played for each games each days/weeks/month ?

When I was young, I really enjoyed keeping this kind of statistics, and I ranked my most played games during the month! :)  lol

2) Will it be possible to adjust the volume of the music versus the special effects ? I really like that music for Night Stalker I want to pump up the music volume ! 😉

3) When should we have the next video ? 😅

Thank you. :)

1.  Not in the current plan.

2.  Yes.  But there will also be a Night Stalker Soundtrack Album that we're working on.  :)

3.  Dice video tomorrow... Astrosmash Monday.

Fantastic observation!  I was waiting for someone to notice and bring it up!   :)

There are a number of different ways to use the controller for Night Stalker.  Including a really cool way we haven't revealed yet (hurry up E3!!)   :)

In the way some of us were playing in that demo... you can use the touch screen as the fire button.  Wherever you tap on the screen... it fires in that direction.  Disc is to move the character.

BUT!!  If you hold down on the touch screen... it shoots out that color ray so you can use it as a target sniper direction... then... we you release the screen it then fires a single shot (which you'll see in the demo).

A bit more accurate shots and a different way to shoot... even on the same screen.

Also important to note that in the demo you won't see folks bumping into walls or shooting wildly at nothing.  So it must mean the controls are pretty good.  In fact... one of the people playing was our new intern (who is helping with programming the Amico Club app) and had never played the game before we started recording it.

There are other ways to control the characters as well.

Very cool! I wonder if what I suggested is what is planned for Armor Battle control, i.e. press disc to move tank, rotate disc to aim turret? It sounds like it would work, buy may be clunky in practice. I'm sure considering all of the control options at your disposal (touch screen, side buttons, motion, pressure sensitivity, rotation, 64 directions, etc.) you and your team have experimented quite a bit.

I forgot to say that it could be used to check the time children play per day! :)

Maybe during an update then ... ( If you are going to do updates on Amico !? )

Good night everyone. I have a two hour video of Tommy to go watch!

Thanks.

No.  Decided to hold it for now.

Tommy, I really like the way you think.

So it could be cool to know why Astrosmash and not Skiing.

Everything is always well calculated. So I am really curious. :)

Thank you. (My son is happy no matter what video is shown)

I don't think activeaction is a hater, I think he's just a bit immature to say "your console will fail just like the first Intellivision!" in that chat. He could have used other words.

1) You can't rely solely on focus testing because John Ford said that, if he had listened to people, he would have made faster horses instead of cars? So what is the alternative to that? And can we use that mentality after so many decades? Well, we can't, because Henry Ford never said that, it was a misquote from a 1999 book.

You know if you cursed Tommy to "console failure just like the Intellivision" that would mean he would 'only' move 4 million units and generate sales of just under $1 billion dollars. Oh please bless me with a failure like that!

And so focus testing is worse than listening to a random scrub on the Internet? Yeah right. Proof positive - that idiotic statement. Here is focus testing - you show the people a *car* and see if they like it better than a *horse*. THAT is focus testing a new product. Doing what they said is basically asking a bunch of Internet scrubs what they think a game console should look like. You want to know the answer (I will save you all that 'focus testing' money) - well first it has dual analog sticks...

Tommy, I was thinking it would be a great idea to have a video with someone like The Immortal John Hancock being able to play 2 or 3 games with the latest controller and console and check out its operation. When, in the next 9 months would something like this be possible?

I get the lights flashing at the top, but is there something I'm not picking up with the orange oscilloscope?

Thinking about the lights at the top - is there a reason all games had those? Sorry if this is obvious... I never was fortunate to have owned the original.

That generic title screen was built in to the intellivision console.  To save on expensive cartridge rom, Mattel put 4k+ of rom in the intellivision and it had common things cartridges could use like the title screen, math routines, sound effects, a whole game engine.  A cartridge could bypass it and provide its own title screen, which most third party cartridges did.

As long as Intellivision has the D&D license, how about an Amico version of the classic board game Dungeon!

Did they say they have the Dungeons & Dragons license?

Huh. Y'know, that's pretty neat! I had honestly never heard of that.

They might not have the board game licence, only the video game licence.

A bit of an older press release now (over a year ago!) but 'Beauty and the Beast' is on the list of games they plan to release for the Amico.

https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/intellivision-reveals-initial-details-for-the-upcoming-amico-home-video-game-console-300734998.html

I'm going through some of the old videos. It is neat to see how far things have come along. The old press release brings up an interesting question. There is a difference between want to and will. So from one of the earliest videos I got this list of games.

Archon

Kung-Fu Master

Lode Runner

Miner 2049er

MotoRace USA

R-Type

Spelunker

Super Burgertime

10-Yard Fight

ToeJam and Earl

Tropical Angel

Are all these being worked on/completed? Or Which ones are either been scraped or are just currently hopefuls that you plan to get to?

I got confirmation data from these points in the video:

  • 3:33:23 Ecco successor.. is not Fathom.  No one is talking about how there are four dolphins in the screenshot.  4-player Ecco successor
  • 3:35:38 MotoRace USA will not be available on launch
  • 3:35:46 Miner 2049er may make launch
  • 3:35:55 Tropical Angel will not be available on launch
  • 3:35:58 BurgerTime for sure on launch
  • 3:36:06 Moon Patrol for sure on launch
  • 3:36:08 R-Type potentially on launch
  • 3:36:16 10-Yard Fight potentially on launch, a few football games (10-Yard Fight, potential Tecmo Bowl/Super Bowl, Intellivision Football)
  • 3:36:36 Lode Runner probably on launch
  • 3:36:53 Kung-Fu Master will not be available on launch
  • 3:37:00 Archon will not be available on launch
  • 3:37:08 Toe Jam and Earl is potentially on launch, done by the same team as Back in the Groove.  Touchscreen integration, multi-player, humor focused, new music, levels
  • 3:38:10 Spelunker probably not on launch

I feel like I'm getting in on the ground floor of something I missed out on in 1979. (I had an Atari in 1979)

Tommy,

In the 4 hour video, you say the Amico will be releasing Burger Time, but the picture in the background is Super Burger Time. Can you confirm which of these it will be? Thanks.

Yeah, I had to do it in four parts. Likely same thing for the new 2 hour one.

They already straightened out the Burgertime license.

https://atariage.com/forums/topic/288558-intellivision-amico-tommy-tallarico-introduction-qa/?do=findComment&comment=4299190

All the titles from the october 2018 press release should be licences that they have.  At the time it would have been too early for a production schedule.  It could still be a couple of years before some of them are realised.
