I was thinking the music was interfering with the sound effects.

According to the Mike Mika quote above it's up to four players.

He also said this footage is from last year.

This system looks like a lot of fun. I love the woodgrain.

But PLEASE, limit sales to one console per person or household. I don't want to buy one from some a-hole on Ebay for an inflated price.

I heard him say he was going to limit it to 10

Thank goodness,that's all I can afford! 😄

Truthfully,I will be thrilled with one,and sad if I dont get one.

I will be attempting to place my order the minute sales open up.

From work,dont tell my boss!👍

Then, Atari VCS team are smarter than we think.

.....they really aren't....

I think in one of their last videos they called in a console again. They really have an identity crisis. One of the nice things about Amico is that you know what it is wanting to be/do.

Night Stalker looked really good,  I just didn't like the sweep from left to right.

I was thinking of using that in one of my projects,  Now I know I will not be.  In my head it was going to look so cool.  It is just distracting/annoying.

Yes every model has that as it serves a purpose for game play

So tommy I have a question about the night stalker video.  Is the wall movement just being used as a visual effect or more involved in gameplay than what we see?  Like can they lower and a player or enemy can just wall on it which opens up a little more depth to the action

  Or no?

Also  the game looks crazy awesome.  Plus I dunno about anyone else but those visuals have me hyped for the eventual tron games on the amico.

The reimagined Night Stalker gameplay video has over 10,000 views in less than 24 hours and the reaction is overwhelmingly positive both in the comments and the upvote/downvote ratio.

By the way, I just learned that the Evercade will not only have old games, but also new games for old systems. One of the cartridges will feature many games from the indie developer Mega Cat Studios. The console is less than $100 and each cartridge, featuring 10-15 games from one particular company, only $20, so perhaps the console can be a success.

Yes the design may have been tweaked a bit and this angle is higher than the older renders but it looks like everything is still there

I like the idea of the wood grain. But think it might of looked a little better if the gold and wood grain was reversed (gold on top, wood grain band around the sides). It would better match the scheme of the original intv.

And scrap the wood grain on the controller. It doesn't feel right to have the wood grain there as no other console of the era used it on the controller (that I'm aware of). Plus it would look odd when the controllers were laid in it, if the base console colors were swapped as I suggested. Make the controller plastic brown, like the original. Same color as shown in the charging tray. And keeping the gold disc, obviously.

Tommy - Curious if you guys considered that? And if you did, if you had a sample render of it as well?

I get some of the points on preference on if the wood grain was reversed but without sounding like a kiss ass I think it looks most excellent as is and once you add LED lighting on the system, the assets surrounding the LED lighting will make that band look even better.  If you have wood grain, hello kitty, dora the explorer or whatever other scheme on the side rails instead of on top, it would look odd lit up.  Wood grain and other detailed art assets just won’t reflect the lighting as well but having it one metallic or uniform color around the light will make that light standout even more.

Anyway pretty sure it’s a moot point since I believe they have said this is the final version.  Of course as a fan of the history behind consoles and the various prototypes during the design phase, it will be very cool to eventually see the different options they considered.  As it is, we should expect those after release because showing that now just brings the debate and pressure on changing it on Intellivision Entertainment if we see something we prefer, which would be a nono in the business world 9 months before launch of the product.  Development is filled with milestones and if they’ve stated “it’s final” then that milestone is achieved and they need to move forward once a decision like this is made.

My 0.02 cents, it never hurts to discuss these things, just hope people temper their expectations on the results of said discussions

Night Stalker Notes :

30 bullets per gun. (Appearing only when it's empty)

120 pts  for each robot

50 pts  for each bat. (Be sure its close to his shadow, which means it is low enough to be reached)

When you reach 1000 pts, you have another life.

Very cool how you reach a new level. That's this kind of little touch that I really appreciate.

Question. When we have 5 bullets or less, do we have a vibration, or something telling us we will be short in bullets soon !?  :)

Edit : You can reach a new level after a certain amount of robots are eliminate. Get to the eliminated floor ! :)

image.thumb.png.41a2e661e47ba36ee2cef3fd15b4f266.png

Once the group (or a single player in single player mode) reaches a certain score... the transport floor will appear somewhere on the level... you just need to get to it.  We'll be placing them near the spider for sure!

:)

The Spider can NOT be killed... and if you get too close he will wrap you up and stun you... leaving you helpless and attackable by enemies.  A lot of times you don't even realize you're near a spider because of the shadows.  They you see him right next to you and it's like AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   SPIDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's super cool.

Those level transitions are beyond epic. Is this one of the 5 games you mentioned that are using Mike Mika's in-house game engine?

Yep!

Hi Tommy, I love the new gameplay clip and it has me wondering.  Will there be any sort of story presented for these retro reimagined games?  I played all these when I was a kid and I had a great time but I didn’t, and still don’t know exactly what is going on in some of these games.  Like, why is there a robot going after these people, are they prisoners they are coming out of a cell?, why is there a spider, etc.?  Some sort of story to explain all this rather than just putting you right in the action would be awesome.

Yes!  But not the long and boring PLEASE STOP kind.

:)

Simple one pagers that bring in a little story line and deeper understanding of what is happening.

Imagine a Night Stalker movie!!  We have.   :)

I seem to recall that Hexic was designed by the Alexey Pajitnov, which is pretty cool. Think of what he could do developing for the Amico!

Correct.

And yes... he is a good friend and I've spoken to him.   :)

The 100 dollar deposit for the Amico Founders Edition package will be paid on the Intellivision Entertainment website? What I mean is, where do we do the transaction for the 100 dollar deposit?

Officially, the transaction will happen on PayPal (via PayPal account or credit card) as that is the most secure.  But yes... you will start at a special hidden page on our website that only folks on the Mailing List will see first.

If there are any left over... we'll eventually post on Social Media a few days later.

In some regards.  But again... ours is a lot more simple and clean looking.  I think folks are really going to like it.  And the way the controllers are packed is really unique!

Ohhh...  though I would guess some are going to be posting it on social media so its likely to accelerate things a bit but not as much as if you post it yourself.

That definitely changes things a bit, better modify my pool pick, should slow things down a bit.

I really hope everyone here have taken the time to be added to the mailing list!

The newest video looked great!

The only thing I noticed was the shooting with multiple characters seemed to maybe drown out the music a bit. It definitely has a lot going on with it with only 3 players.

Does this game go up to 8 players?

Next week I will have some new stuff to discuss with that kid that liked Breakout.

8 months of development still to go.  Audio mixing is one of the last things that is done.

4 player max in co-op.  Potentially 8 players in versus.  Still deciding and seeing what the machine can handle (and if it gets too crowded).
