Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Recommended Posts

Of course we all know the best type of fake 3D games are the first person dungeon crawlers like Wizardry, Eye of the Beholder and The Bard's Tale.

But since we all know this fact there isn't much debate.

I'm so sad we cant debate this because how can you debate solid hard facts?

(Those playing along know this post is entirely a joke. Those who don't know it's a joke...it's a joke)

But seriously it is an undisputed fact.

This is beyond me as well, but the discussion got a bit divergent. I had just brought up 3D since I suspected Lord Rayken’s acquaintances picked Horizon Chaser, a very basic but very 3D game, to fixate on something you hadn’t made a priority. It just again seems like reaching for something to gripe about. But, that was a few days ago now. 🙂

I've seen Lord Rayken defend Amico against the same 3 morons on YouTube (all with other fake accounts that they respond back and forth with each other to make it seem like there are more people who agree with them)... so I don't view him as a hater at all.  I believe (as I mentioned in my replies to him) that he leans very much on art/graphics for his games and has a distinct opinion of what makes good art in a game.  Some I agree with... some I don't.  And that's okay.  I understand his point of view.  Yes, he is disappointed in what we've shown in the last trailer... and that's alright as well.  Amico won't be for everyone.  I don't mind his interactions at all as he does keep things super respectful with everyone.

Of course the 3 morons on YouTube are now trying to tell him (among other lies) that this thread is "turning" on him.  He's smart enough to know their idiotic crap when he sees it (which is basically every word out of their mouths).  And for those 3 idiots (you know exactly who you are).  Hi!  You love to reference this thread in your dopey half baked dialogue.  Talking about how everyone in here are morons.  You're absolutely obsessed with trying to bring down a video game system you've never played and get little boners each time Pat likes one of your hater comments.  Yes... you really are that pathetic.  Whose the real "moron" in this situation?  So um.. yeah... have fun throwing hate on us all day long and then scratch your heads as to why your life hasn't turned out the way you planned.  Ok... that was entertaining for a minute.  Now I gotta get back to making more stuff you can complain about.

:D

I have a huge question about this Lord Rayken.

What is he a Lord of?

Did the Queen give him the title of Lord or is he from The House of Lords?

Perhaps he is from another European country which still has nobility .

So many unanswered questions.

I wish I was nobility.

I would be Baron Von Garvey - I'd wear a red scarf and a monocle every where and have a cigarette on a long stick like they did in the old days.

Oh and have a coat draped over my shoulders but not actually on me.

Yeah, Lord Rayken is a good guy. Definitely not turning on him. It’s really an over- reaction to say that we are turning on him over a few posts making counter-points. Again, just curious to pick Horizon Chaser as a baseline as it is something you’ve said is outside your wheelhouse.

Tommy when will the next wave of neet the amico videos start coming out.   I know you said we will see one for missle command  and  I think one on the controller.  .

Also any update on use for the amico token that came with shirts in December. Any idea when we will be using them??

Also vip pre orders  will they have limited numbers? Just wondering because unsure on ore order just yet. Normally $100 wouldn't bother me but right now out of work in new Orleans as all ewstayranrs were shut down  for dining.  So being careful with every dollar hopefully for the short term.

I think Lord has gone into a new territory in that he wants the Amico to literally be a Wii successor. Maybe that's because Wii U failed at doing that and left what made Wii unique behind while just trying to ape the Wii name in Wii U.

I watched some videos of Wii sports because I admit I didn't really play much of it, and I do see some of the styles he may be trying to talk about. Depth of field and other effects in a 3D environment for bowling and baseball and that may be missing to him on the Amico so far. 3D environments with over the shoulder camera angles for sports.

I'm not particularly sure why he's latched onto Horizon Chase so much. But maybe he is on to something there for Amico style games. I don't know what he is expecting, honestly. I just see a lot of thoughts that would basically make Amico "Wii 2" which may be what Tommy was hinting at? Maybe Rayken grabbed the wrong idea somewhere along the line. Rayken is a little too hateful towards everyone though, and his wording is not well thought out to me, although Tommy seemed to do okay responding to him. I want to stress I am not turning on him or anything like that. Just saying he is abrasive towards us and the people on Youtube.

I just saw that he has completely deconstructed Atari, Sega, and Xbox's problems on Youtube, so I will give those a listen.

Another thought.

How about a ninja game where you are a kid and you have to sneak around the house.

2D action of course.

The parent would always be somewhere in the background kind of pretending not to see you but if you blatantly got in front of them they'd catch you.

It could work on two levels: kids thinking they are being sneaky and adults pretending they cant see the obvious.

Two or three player could have some play the parents but they couldnt "catch" the kid ninja unless they were directly in there zone.

Could have puzzled and platforming.

Just a thought.

I like this idea.  Too many games are designed with the grown-up mind/perspective.  Having a game truly from a child's point of view would be great.

An idea that I had based on the toys my kids like playing with...  A marble run building game where you basically build a marble run in game.  Then once completed, you can "be" the marble and go through the run (1st person style) like some of the roller-coaster builder games.
I'm thinking something like this:

People outside this forum think we are morons?

I know my what my new name is:

Baron Von Moron-Garvey

I have to find a way to work Higginbottoms in there but it's almost complete.

Also John Alvarado is great.

That last one was for you Tommy.

I like the stylized graphics of Horizon Chaser and we could easily pull off that kind of 3D on the system.  Very low poly and texture count.  Just great art style

Fun Fact:  I know the Horizon Chase team... they are based in Brazil.  Horizon Chase was created from their love of a very popular game in Brazil on the SNES called Top Gear.  Here I am performing the music from Top Gear for the very first time in Brazil.  The Horizon Chase team comes on stage and the original composer who I flew from the U.S.  What a great night!!  The fans in Brazil and Chile are the best in the world!  So passionate about gaming and what we do.  Love them!

Oh wait... that wasn't the one with the developer... this one was (but doesn't show the developers until after the song is over).  I interviewed them on stage before it started.  It's somewhere on YouTube... I just couldn't find it.  Great guys and talented developers.

Tomorrow will see the next MEET AMICO video featuring the controllers and Missile Command!  We filmed it a few weeks ago (thankfully!) as now we wouldn't be able to because of the quarantine in Orange County because of the virus!  We've all been working from home the past few weeks.  The other MEET AMICO featuring the controller will come out either Friday or Monday of next week.

Dealing with coronavirus issues right now so haven't gotten to the RFID Golden Ticket stuff yet.  When we do... we will make up for lost time for sure.  Count on it.

The VIP's are NOT numbered.  That is only something special for the Founders Edition.  There will be a limited time and quantity ordered... but it will be bigger than the Founders Edition as we don't want anyone to miss out on the opportunity (like a lot of folks did with the FE).

Inspired by OEB_Pete's video, I've decided to post my interest/excitement ranking for each game in the latest gameplay trailer.  I'm using a 0-5 scale where
0 = not interested at all
1 = looks ok but probably would only purchase if it goes on sale
2 = I'm interested and may purchase but probably after the others
3 = A likely purchase
4 = A definite purchase
5 = Reserved for the few I'm most interested/excited in

Ecco: 4 - never played the original but could see this being a fun game to play with the kids.

SafeCracker: 3 - never played the original but the idea seems interesting.

Pool: 2 - For me, this game really comes down to how good the controls are.

Auto Racing: 4 - looks fun.  again controls will be key

Shark Shark: 4 - my family plays this on the flashback.  I'm hoping the karma engine helps even up the chances when I play with the kids.

Cornhole: 5 - This game looks fantastic and fun to play. Our family really loves motion control games.

Breakout: 3 - I've always been a bit indifferent to breakout games but this does look fun and I think the kids will like it.

Astrosmash: 3 - I like the original but wasn't fanatical about it.  I lump this into a similar bucket as breakout.

Hotwheels type game: 5 - I'm really intrigued by this game.  I think it looks like it could be loads of fun.  Definitely want to see more.

Armor Battle: 2 - For me this game comes down to how well it evens out the skill level and what fun/unique weapons it has.  The more I see, the higher this score could go.

Bomberman clone: 3 - Never played Bomberman.  The clip looked a bit chaotic but I can see potential for this to be a good couch co-op game.

Pong: 2 - Probably a game my kids will enjoy more than me.

Recording game: 5 - Party games will likely be a big hit in our household.  The sillier the better for my kids.

Missile Command: 3 - Again, never played the original. On par with Breakout and Astrosmash for me.

Evel Knievel: 4 - This games looks like it could be a lot of fun.  No one in my family is going to care that it is a mobile port.

Farkle/Dice: 3 - We like playing the real version of Farkle.  Will the Amico version be enough to make us go digital?

Skiing: 4 - Looks like a lot of fun.  I can see this one getting a lot of playtime for our family.

Biplanes: 4 - Absolutely loved the original biplanes so that alone has me really excited for this.  I can't wait to see more!

Emoji guessing game: 5 - Another party game so will be a hit with us.

Asteroids: 3 - Another on par with Breakout, Astrosmash, and Missile Command.

AD&D: 5 - Loved the original.  New one looks like it stayed pretty faithful to the gameplay.  Can't wait!

Moon Patrol: 3 - Liked this game as a kid.  Really wanting to see the co-op modes before I give it a higher score.

Night Stalker: 5 - I think I am most excited for Night Stalker (well, maybe tied with AD&D).  Couch co-op looks like a ton of fun on this.

I love it except Missile Command should be an 11 LOL

Hello fellow travellers, im ramey butler aka headtraumabob on psn. Question for Tommy, the boss man of intellivision.

Are you gonna need product testers?

I know most companies usually do, however I realize that intellivision isn't like the other "guys" so what are you stances on pre market testing?

By the way thank you for the kind remark on my comment on atari creeps youtube video concerning the latest game demos.

I'll shut up now.

At 1st I thought this picture was mousetrap, the game.  It is not.

But... then thought... Mousetrap the game on Amico would be a neato idea.

Using the controller to try and guide the marble through the mazes to catch that damn mouse!

I could see some fun things from it... and yes, at the end you have to yell MOUSETRAP into the controller to win the game!

I  am going to be totally honest. I watched that 8 minute video about everybody hates intellivision and all I could think was "what is in those boxes?"

I mean what a tease.  To show two big boxes in the background and not even acknowledge them.

OWB Pete would never do such a thing.

He'd open those boxes and show what's inside.

Darn tooting I would, my mortal enemies are tape, glue and shrink wrap!  Wait I forgot snakes I hate snakes!

Second and third this.  I was think of a game that let’s you build a giant Rube Goldberg contraption...

maybe, licensing and running wild with Mouse Trap.  Would be a lot of fun to build and share contraptions online, and bring them into your Amico console.
