I came across this on Google.  Someone a few days ago showed a green one on here.  So, thought I would do yellow.

Correct.  Buttons will be colors.  Red & Blue because most color blind folks can't see green.

Also showing PICTURES of the buttons on screen with description is also easy (top button says JUMP next to it).

I thought the buttons on the controllers had lights which could change color so it would be more about "hit the red button to fire" sort iof thing.  Which button is the red button? Any of them could be it.  Holding it horizontally to the right the ones at the top could be lit up red.  Horizontally to the left would have those top buttons red. Vertically could be the touchscreen lighting up red. Vertically upside down maybe the disk lights up red.

I could be wrong but that is how I imagine it will be.

Oh and any game could change any color at any time.

I maybe totally wrong but that's what I thought.

Your scenario could be correct as well.

Will be different depending on the game.  But for the most part... we don't have a lot of different buttons.  Missile Command is one of the exceptions.

But there could be certain games (Safe Cracker for example) where you need to press the button that lights up the color that the game tells you (or to spin and hit the disc to match the color on the disc LED).

Possibilities are endless!  Yet another way our controller is unique and gameplay & design elements that could not be done on something like the Switch.

Thanks for thinking about accessibility issues - often sadly overlooked. Gold Medal for Intellivision:🥇

This reminds me of how I found out my two sons were colorblind.

We were at a stop light when they were very young.  I was explaining how red means stop.

They asked what blue meant.  I didn't understand at first then I realized they could not see the green lights.

On another note we had a dark green couch and they swear to this day its black.

(By the way their mom is colorblind too which I was told was more rare in women...I never looked it up though)

I believe the description of 2.5 would be incorrect.  3D objects and worlds are used for 2.5D... but the camera is fixed.

On the list you provided... we are doing everything except the last one (3D 1st person)... or as it's generally referred to... "free roaming".

A first person dungeon crawler can work well with the. Controller  doesn't need to be worn world or fully free roaming.

It's possible for the screen to "scroll", so instead of trying to fit 12 tiny cards... the better way would be to hold the controller horizontal and then "swipe" to see all the cards.  I'm guessing here... we haven't run into this just yet, but we've spoken about it in the past and that seems like the best way to handle/approach.  Especially for older folks who like to see things bigger... not smaller (I'm one of them).

Thanks Tommy.  Just another way you guys are thinking “out of the box”.  Hadn't even considered that approach.  Expanding this concept to adventure games could mean scrolling maps as well!  Can’t wait for release.

Regarding Dimension, getting there are 2 aspects; how the hardware process the image and how we perceive it.  Guessing HW is pretty cut and dry, its our attempt to categorize our perception that’s causing confusion.

Like someone said earlier, in the end, who really cares if the games are fun (and engaging).

Thank you! I've never been greeted by a self-titled Baron before, so pardon me for any breach in internet protocols!

Yeah, I can say that this forum always seems active, and is quite a fun read. It's quickly become a staple in my after-work reading.

Thank you for the warm welcome! And thank you for the info on Baseball. Been looking forward to having a baseball title you can just play a quick game (or three) in some down-time again. Specifically, on the subject of Homerun celebrations, my mind went to two places: Reggie Jackson Baseball (so many rounds of Homerun Derby on that cart as a kid) and the 4th of July scene from 'The Sandlot'.

The PS2 Bard's Tale? A favorite of mine & the wife's! It was so cool watching the game's tongue-in-cheek approach just lampoon itself (and pretty much the entire rpg genre, at that time) while still being an immersive play. Reminded me of an old friend's D&D rant that 'heroes' were ten times worse for the stability of their homelands than the 'villains' they were opposing.

Possibly my son's, too! No matter where he is in the house, when I check out the Amico videos, I'll hear a cheery 'Open Every Box, Pete!' exclaimed, then footsteps as he races to get more video game news.

Perhaps the most 'extra' Mothers'/Fathers' Day gift possible. Thank you for pointing out this is a thing!

If I recall correctly, the potential for RISK on the system was brought up a while back, and it sounded like it was perhaps a title that might be something down the road, once the system is established. Would that allow the potential for a similar-styled strategy game to come out? My first thought on this was 'Shingen the Ruler', which played similar to RISK, and was set in Feudal Japan. We had it for the NES.

I just keep thinking how naturally a unit deployment game would work with the controller. Also imagining the pieces as the little Army guys from 'Toy Story'... might be time I switch to decaf...

Your awesome.

Thanks for acknowledging my title.

Big Juice man, I haven't commented for a while. Now that it has been like what a week since the gameplay trailer would you say it's done more damage than good because I see more skepticism for the Amico probably than ever. Hopefully with the next YouTube video you could repair and show what this thing really has to offer. I myself am confused. The VIP orders are going to be available soon so they got to show something and quick.

Nope all you saw was the handful of haters gleefully shouting to the world "see they are putting mobile games on there" (2 out of 22 games) and Amico fans responding "great, I have some more mobile games I would like to see ported and how about this board game and this retro game I played as a kid".

Here is reality: the views, likes and dislikes on the latest video and three other majors ones - notice all the like/dislike ratios are within rounding error. Handful of haters, 10x supporters:

Views          Likes      Ratio    Dislikes  Ratio            Video title

263128 5190 2% 456 0.2%   Intellivision® Amico™ - Reveal Trailer (2018)
102411 2310 2% 292 0.3%   Intellivision® Amico™ Gamescom 2019 Trailer
59822 1098 2% 132 0.2%   Intellivision® Amico™ - VIP Pre-Order Announcement Gameplay Trailer

Haters gona hate and think they just like to create friction. If everyone hated Amico, they’d probably be It’s biggest supporters.

No that's not all that I saw, I'm fully aware of the "haters" which is a way over used term these days used to discredit someone's opinion and why is everything Justin Bieber all of a sudden? everything has "haters", but no I saw comments from people who are seeing this for the first time. And read an article. Not everyone is pat and Ian and let's not pretend like everyone is. you mentioned Amico fans but yes they already have those people they need to bring more people in and keep in mind I'm not against the Amico, and actually don't like when they give fuel to the "haters" I want something to be shown that will blow us all away. They say they have something and I want to see what it is lol.

For me Intellivision has already shown some games that IMHO are super... and sure there will be some that no one likes, not for them, it happens.. but there will be some they do.

For me... Night Stalker so far looks outrageously awesome... Moon Patrol looks super.  Astrosmash looks like lots of fun.  D&D oh wow!!

The Amico supposed to ship with 5 to 6 games and right now out of the 22 they have shown, there are some super titles, in my opinion.

To keep this family oriented they will have some of these smaller titles or less complicated games for everyone to play... Cornhole as example for me will be one I just pick up when I want 15 minutes of play and then off I go to work or whatever... then when I have hour to spare, D&D etc...

I think they are showing all games being worked on, some big, some not so much... and will be a selection for all.

That is the way I take it.

IE is not going to try to blow away hardcore gamers because it is not their target and trying to blow away hardcaore gamers is just going to alienate casual gamers because they like very different things. What is being put out now is all for the retro crowd. Most of the features will not be shown until mid summer to peak interest for Black Friday and holidays.

You see it's this type of comment that's going to get us nowhere. it's a faulty logic because you could use the same argument against us, so are you saying that those who don't like Pat the NES Punk new video that we're just not liking it to create friction? Because it has a similar ratio. "Haters gonna hate" is a cop out, if someone's going to argue one point you got to argue it back. Show them what's up, and not just say oh you're just a hater.

Question.  When Leapfrog was releasing their Leappad was their a lot of forums and discussions and controversy surrounding it?

I am not trying to be funny.  I honestly want to know.

My ex wife bought two - one for her youngest son and one for her boyfriend's daughter.

When the DS lite came out I ran out and bought my two sons one each (one white and one black) as I already had an original.

These are $100 devices and we didn't blink an eye buying them. We weren't rich but credit cards help when you don't have cash.

Why am I mentioning all this you may ask...

Because Tommy said families are the main audience for the Amico.

He's just being nice to us Hardcore gamers but when their marketing hits it will focus on families.   They are going to have mom influencers and other casual people talking about this...like Ellen and others who aren't Hardcore gamers.  He even mentioned using commercials on mobile games to promote the system.

So....when was the last time a Leappad had games for hardcore gamers...well the Amico will have them and more.

I'm not calling anyone haters and I'm not calling anyone fanboys.  I am saying that those who know about this system now aren't the core audience so maybe we should wait until the thing is out a year before having its funeral.

Yeh I am not in the hater or not crowd... but from what I see... @Tommy Tallarico has explained what the goals of the Intellivision Amico are... and yet people keep glossing over that and keep pushing that they don't like it or whatever.  Intellivision is not not going to change from their main goal... these folks should see that by now.

Now if maybe if these folks start referencing that here are the goals of Intellivision and why they feel Amico is not living up to those goals, then that makes more sense to me.  They don't like it, it happens... but to keep ripping on it knowing the goals of the company does not make sense to me.  At that point it seems to become a haters gonna hate because they are not taking into any consideration the goal of the product in question.

Amico has these goals... if you feel what we are putting out still does not meet those goals, then tell them why... Maybe Intellivision can then work on improving.

Competing against Xbox, Nintendo, Sony, etc... is not what IE is going for.

Juice, you said that the trailer did "more damage than good" and that Intellivision Entertainment needed to "repair" the negative image projected. Somebody replied with the like-dislike ratio, proving that you were wrong.

Considering that you were also proven wrong with the FE (you didn't think it was going to be that successful)... Will you ever get tired of being proven wrong? 😇

Oh and by the way, Tommy, I am with you and I have ordered 20 Founders Editions already but... Sorry and I don't want to sound like a hater but I am very disappointed with everything you have shown so far. I will continue to buy more and more Amicos because I am crazy like that, but you really must improve. *not_a_hater mode off 🙃
