Yeah but lets be honest you didnt just pay 250 and to say 200 to 250 made a difference.  Really? Did adding another 60 dollars for 1 game make a difference?  Or another controller at a minimum of 45 buck for a 3rd party controller make a difference?  Because I have a switch and using the joycon isn't great as 2 controllers. So 250 for a console that has 2 controllers the option to add 6 more at not cost and 6 added games and a whole list of games at launch that dont cost 60 bucks but 10 or less. The total cost to own a switch and  the games will well exceed the Amico by nearly double.  So its obvious price isnt the issue.

Yeah it made a difference. And no, the $60 game didn't make a difference (she already knows two games she would love and easily get her money's worth in those.). Nor extra controllers mattered as no one needs 8 pairs of extra controllers. So yeah price of the console is the issue. You might not want to believe it but that's what it is.

Then don't buy one. Bye, bye.

Most people don't realize that the Switch has full frontal nudity, sex scenes, graphic murder, rape, illegal drug usage, degrading girl content, and children in compromising sexual positions.

One of the game you mentioned before was removed from the eShop, though, and is now back but censored: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2020/03/banned_horror_game_lust_for_darkness_returns_to_switch_after_offending_content_gets_cut

(but, yes, it doesn't change the fact that Switch has adult content)

haters are always gonna hate; but you can't go around obsessing about it, always trying to put out fires just to protect your own interests. leave them be. the harder you push something down, the greater its potential force when propelled to the top. if the amico is everything tommy says it will be, then nothing can stop it. people will buy it no matter what. For if you build it, they will come. in fact, i guarantee you that the ones who hate it the most will likely be the first in line simply because they won't be able to help themselves. why do you think they hate on it so much? Because they recognize that it possesses a different and conspicuous quality that makes it protrude and stand out in the middle of this muddled ecosystem of gaming in which everything is the same. And if it is indeed a viable and genuine product that will perfectly fill a void as it purports itself to be, then it will clearly speak for itself. look... you can tell pat and ian don't even believe anything they say. truthfully, they believe in this project more than anyone else. why do you think they're trying so hard to destroy it? you don't give your attention to something that holds no value, or that doesn't have any auspicious beginnings that promise success.

When someone blatantly and outright begins to attack you, your product, what you do, and who you are in multiple outlets and social media feeds, that's when you need to step in.

Likewise, if these people that are blatantly and openly calling on their followers to hate on the same things they do, it's almost a social media "war." Then when you start insulting other Youtubers (Rich from Reviewtech) you just start firing in all directions and someone either needs to step in and shut that down or at least openly call them out to address the issues. Tommy has done this several times.

It's like seeing a really bad weed in your yard. That weed will multiply. Eventually, it may snuff out all the other plants in the yard or your grass, or you can poison the weed or pull the weed where it grows. It may grow back, there may still be roots, and all the damage it did to the yard will remain unless you try to repair it and heal it. But there's also some clovers - those ARE weeds, but they're more acceptable. They don't harm anything. The grass goes on.

So there's always two sides to the coin. Sit there and let it stew, or step up and defend yourself. And never let them try to use your "title" against you which has been done over and over. The whole argument that someone who has no title is allowed to act however they want, whenever they want, but someone with a title is beholden to that title and must never act certain ways - it's just a good way to artificially handicap someone because you deny them the entry to properly defend themselves from you.

Those are the kind of people who have to be dealt with, sooner, rather than later, because they have a small following and have a mission to sabotage everything you're doing with their small following. And when your company is also small and growing, that's never a good thing.

See I disagree. Once it hit the $250 in my household it changed. $200 vs $250 made a big difference.

Switch games may be higher but there are certain games that you know are high quality polish, you will enjoy them for sure, and can get your money worth of that $50 to $60. One of the benefits of being a company that has pumped out games consistently over the years is that trust in first party games being good.

Wife hasn't seen anything to dictate the price at $250 when she knows she can find some simple games on the Switch she would like. When it was $150-$200 she was more positive on it. So yeah it can make a difference.

Making a mountain out of a ant hill, so you have no problem paying for a 60 dollar for a new switch game because of a perceived more high quality polished game and more enjoyment and get your money worth before you even try them or  even play the new switch game.. This statement in my opinion is bull because how could you say a game is a higher quality and that you will enjoy playing without even trying the game yourself..  50 dollars is  a coffee a day for a month. Also how do you know with 6 games coming with the Amico for free are not high quality , fun games that you will enjoy.  To me this statement belongs in the other locked thread.  Same intent here as what was going on in that thread.  So are you implying that you wont have that with the Amico.. That's what it sounds like...

No offense MrBeefy, but it seems like you're creating an imaginary secondary persona that doesn't want the Amico. Like a "Good cop, bad cop" kind of thing.

It feels more like you are using "her" to state your actual opinion so it doesn't seem like you're the one saying it. So in that manner you can voice your price concerns without being targeted directly. Like using a ventriloquist dummy.

I'm not buying it. Based on your past behavior and actions in other threads, it seems like you're here again to stir up drama about the price point which you know by now is pretty much a done deal and set in stone. It's perfectly fine to say the current offering of games don't look suitable for a $250 dollar piece of hardware /to you/. In 5 months when the games are finished and are shown off they may be just fine for families and casual gamers.

Also, since the price is fixed - what would you do about it to lower the price? Do you want @Tommy Tallarico to offer an Amico package with one controller or something? Do you have any advice that isn't just picking at the price further?

Bingo!!! and it continues and has come to this thread with the same people and same passive aggressive post's.. They are not fooling anyone ..

It’s all about perceived value. I would rather pay 500 for an Amico than 500 for a PS5 because I will have more fun with it. It’s as simple as that. I don’t care if it’s the newest tech or the oldest tech. I just want to have fun. I understand how someone may feel the the opposite. All good 😊

So... hey everybody!

It feels like I might have wandered into the middle of something... a touch shy of eternal, as this tangent may go.

I'm no good at these things, so I propose a new topic.

Is anyone else excited about the upcoming announcement for Baseball? Tommy mentioned it's coming in the next couple weeks. Personally, it'll probably be my first purchase!

Baseball was life for a younger me. Things like eating and sleeping were fine, mind you, but they weren't Ozzie Smith bare-handing a grounder off glorified cement!

Baseball video games were mandatory rainy-day playing for my brother and I. Also, RBI 3 was the first time I'd gotten my dad so flustered he (half-jokingly, I assure you) accused me of cheating!

Again, I'm really pumped for this, and can't wait to see it in action. Anyone else with me? If not, then perhaps another game's got you interested? What titles are you all waiting to hear more on?

And, as the price goes, everyone do as you feel is right. I'm sure I'll see mostly all of you on the global leader boards (when they come available), more than a few places higher than myself, in due time.

I really haven't enjoyed a baseball game in a really long time.  The controls of the average console just seem overly complicated. I did enjoy the Wii baseball portion of Wii Sports, but I'm looking forward to the new one on Amico.  I loved the original so much that I hope the new one lives up to the hype.  Actually, I'm also really curious as to what all the "mic drop" moments are the Tommy has hinted at a few times.

But for me, I'm really looking forward to Night Stalker. That was a game I didn't get to play a lot when I was a kid because only my cousins had it. Now as an adult, I play it constantly and can't get enough of it.

Same with my bro and I, it still gets crazy when he comes over and I pull out the intellivision. The only thing now is , it's a battle and I don't win every game like when we were younger. (my bro is 4 years younger). Ah the good times and memories  then as a family and soon we will be making more with the Amico!!!!

conversely, i'm not saying you shouldn't speak your mind or even debate people if necessary. i've defended the amico myself. But purposefully going out of your way and going around and patrolling youtube like the amico gestapo isn't going to make things any better. Quite frankly, it'll just make matters worse because you can't impose yourself on people's conscience like that. let everyone be persuaded (or deceived) in their own mind

Circular logic.

You're "not saying" people should not speak their minds in response to misinformation, and then you argued just that in the next sentence.

Freedom of speech is for the haters to spew nonsense, and it's also for those to call them out on their bullshit. It works both ways. Opinions are not without consequence, and they never will be. The 1st Amendment does not guarantee the right of personal statements to remain unchallenged.

Also, freedom of speech has no beauty to it. It's abuse is literally killing people with the misinformation and conspiracy theories on the coronavirus right now. But... It is a necessary evil and a double edged sword that allows American society to grow through the free exchange of ideas.

To all the dumbasses who still insist that Nintendo Switch doesn't allow AO (Adult Rated) rated games.

I've mentioned the Amico to a few friends with pre-teen children and they all seem interested.  Especially when you tell them it comes with two controllers and a bundle of games.  Start talking about no in-app purchases, etc and they really perk up.

Also brought it up on a video chat with some fellow retro gamers and they also sounded keen.  I think once the more hardcore gamers get to see Amico in action quite a few will want it as a second console, espcially if they have children or a non-gaming spouse.

Tommy, have you heard of a football (soccer) game called Sensible Soccer?  It's a classic game and I think the combination of controller with screen and co-op action would make it something really special on the Amico.   And thanks again for all the time you spend here.  Never seen a CEO answer questions and be so open about a new product.  Indeed, your level of activity on AtariAge is one of the reasons I pre-ordered a couple of weeks ago :)

Thanks for giving your personal story about folks with pre-teen kids.

Yes!  Sensible Soccer was AMAZING!!!!!!!!    I believe I played it for the first time on the C64.

Not sure who owns that one.  Not sure if it would be worth a royalty just for the name though.  Will need to think about that.

Tommy, I have a few questions from a collecting standpoint. I'm not sure if these have been asked before, as this thread has been going on for 526 pages, but here they are:

1. Out of the Amico library, just how many games will have physical releases?

Trying to have about 30%... but may be less at first.  Not confirmed just yet.  Lots of factors still in play.

6 hours ago, EdgeOfPortal said:

2. Will physical releases vary in price based on the game, contents etc?

Yes.  Trying to keep pricing between $14.99 - $24.99

6 hours ago, EdgeOfPortal said:

3. Will there be releases similar in style to "collectors edition" or "Limited Editions"?

Yes!  For sure.

6 hours ago, EdgeOfPortal said:

4. Will physical releases have a standard for how many copies are produced? With modern consoles such as the switch and ps4, the minimum order quanitity vary in the low 1000s, so some games can be quite difficult to get. I guess what I'm asking is, will physical releases be easy to obtain?

Not for everything... but we will definitely have limited numbered editions as well.

Yes... most physical releases should be easy to obtain.

I’m excited for baseball too been a long time since I’ve played a baseball game last one was on the PS1 I think.  I’m kind of hoping along with regular baseball we might see a return of was it Baseball Simulator 3000 where the players were robots and you had power ups you could use I remember having a ton of fun playing that on NES. As for games I’m excited for there are several Nightstalker because I’m a huge horror fan and it’s as close to a horror theme game as we are bound to get and Horse Racing, Snafoo, Shark! Shark! all because I have memories of playing for hours against family with those games in my childhood

About the Switch, I have to just echo something Tommy mentioned in one of of his interviews. Now I say this as a life long gamer who has owned a ton of systems and I am not a fanbooi of any particular company, that being said, I cant stand the art style of most Japanese and Nintendo games. I find the style creepy and childish. So at least for me the Switch is just not an option and it has nothing to do with money and everything thing to do with art and I say this as a semi serious collector of animation art ( I have 4 or 5 pieces that should be in museums) and even with my love of animation, I CANT STAND Nintendos art style. Not the big headed jrpgs, or the mario this that and the other things and me and Tommy cant be the only ones who just arent into to playing creepy bobble headed characters.

I know a LOT of hardcore gamers (PC, XBOX & PS) that absolutely hate anything Nintendo does... mostly because of their art style.  I'm not in the that camp personally (i.e. I don't hate them for it)... and I really loved the new Zelda art style.  But yeah... the reality is that there are 200 million hardcore gamers yet only around 55 million Switches out there.  Translating roughly to only about 25% of hardcore gamers even own a Switch.
