I'm still waiting for the day Francois drops an Intellivision Amico video from inside a Quebec strip club.  "Excuse me miss, while I talk to these fine people about the Amico".  Aerosmith's Angel playing in the background, you know it's coming.

I vote for sky-diving.

It's just one of those tropes that gets repeated, particularly as an argument for when visuals are subpar or not aesthetically pleasing, that gameplay should rule.

Its pretty simple actually, gameplay must be first, and then the art design must compliment the gameplay. Now this could mean it needs to be hyper realistic graphics since that is what the latest and greatest FPS shooter demands, or it could be hand drawn retro graphics like the award winning Cupheads, since that game worked because the gameplay was solid and the art design was amazing, so the key is really understanding the marriage between gameplay and art design. It eithers compliments and makes each better, or the marriage isnt right and fails and the game fails which is more often than not, because while the concept is easy, execution is incredibly hard. Games are art, art that comes from a whole host of disciplines that all must come together and produce a magical and fun experience and as a creator your always only a decision or two away from blowing it during creation and the more people involved, the harder it gets IMHO ( aka too many chefs in a kitchen)

Understanding just how hard game making is, its just once again shows just how remarkable Tommy and his guys were in the early 90s with their run of hit after hit after hit. Talk about being in the zone.

Yes, exactly this!

Just thought I’d throw this out to anyone who might be interested (not sure if anyone else already mentioned this), CBS All Access has a show on right now called “Console Wars”.  I haven’t watched it yet, but it looks like the subject matter is the SEGA/Nintendo battle during the 90’s.

Anone recall which Tommy interview discussed Aerosmith and Guitar Hero?
I think he may have on ours. I know we talked about Steven Tyler. But, I know I've heard that story elsewhere as well.

I have a great Amico story... My 75 year old mom just called and asked how she can pre-order an Amico! She talked to my dad, who is 80, and he said he wanted the Amico as well. Since I started our channel, she has been watching every show along with my appearances on OEB Pete's show.

She has even subscribed to several of the Amico guys and watching their videos. She is not a gamer but apparently is turning into one. :)

She was talking to someone at her work (yep, she is still working) about me doing youtube shows about gaming and her friend mentioned her son. He has a couple of young daughters and was complaining about how expensive buying a new system will be with the upcoming systems. As well as the games. My mom told her all about the Amico and was doing her best to sell her friend on the Amico for her son. The Amico has obviously struck a cord with her.

I am hoping to have her on our show at some point to talk Amico. If I can get her on. So cool to see my parents excited for a new game system!

Thanks, Tommy!

That is so awesome! You should have your mom and Tommy together on one of your next shows.

I'd like to see Tommy along with his mother on one of these live streams.

Maybe @OEB_Pete could do an Amico All Access with Mom's!

I bet that would be fun! Oh, the stories that could be told!

Anyone else notice the robot VINCENT from the movie The Black Hole depicted on the side of the buggy carrying space ship in the Moon Patrol demo?

Wonder if that means Maximilian is one of the bosses in the game 😆

Awesome... And she plays Skyrim!  My top favorite outside of flight sims.  Great Gal and she's spot on... It's not just for pimple faced anti-socials...gaming is for everyone.

I couldnt help but notice that 36650 high score you got. I think that's the best one I've seen so far.

Thanks, haven't been able to replicate it again (get close) but I’ve been shooting for time, not score lately.

That would work too.  "Hi guys, just about to jump out of a plane but I wanted to talk about the Intellivision Amico first..." 😁

New article on the Amico. Coverage outside of us retro fans.

https://www.romper.com/p/amico-a-new-video-gaming-console-wants-to-host-your-familys-next-game-night-34994601

Hopefully the Amico team can circle back closer to release for a more in-depth article to remind readers about the console.

Great “grabber” quote: "Amico offers a fantastic gaming experience that’s first and foremost about creating fun, enjoyable shared experiences… we just happen to also leave out all the things that concern parents about gaming while we’re at it," Acker explains. (Highlight mine.)

I like your quote & I was surprised the Romper site is a much bigger deal than I expected (of course I don't really fit that 'young mom' demographic to have heard of it)

Yeah, I had never heard of Romper. (Well, I remember Romper Room but I saw no Romper Stompers on the site.) Not only do they have all those likes/follows you highlighted, turns out they're part of a bigger company of sites: https://bustle.company

Of course, I don’t know any of them, but Tommy could probably tell us how significant coverage is by this group. I gather the PR team was pretty happy with this.
