Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Recommended Posts

The PS5 has been announced for late 2020. We will then have to make an important decision...

- To wait until Christmas to spend $500 in a PS5

- To buy an Amico on October 10th for $200

I'm really torn...

We will take 'em any way they come. Most importantly you had the HyperX Quadcast to pick up the "Gadousgh Doosgh"s clearly ;)

I freakin LOVE that thing!  And the red glow is so damn cool.  Gadooosh!!

i was thinking how cool Pac Man would be if one person was Pac Man with each of your friends being the ghosts chasing you

but then again you can also do this with Lock N Chase

On the drawing board!  Also, co-op and versus (Pac-family all battling!).  There is a similar type of arcade experience people may have played over the past few years.  We're trying to take it a notch higher.  :)

In discussions with Namco.  Aside from my own 25+ year relationship with them (I worked on some of their big franchises like Pac-Man, Time Crisis, Point Blank, etc.) but also... one of our V.P.'s of Production Jason Enos worked there for 8 years before joining Intellivision.  :)

Perish the thought!  George says there is only one clear winner...AMICO!

For confused AtariFan88: HyperX Quadcast is a nice USB microphone that glows red so no mistaking it in the Level 857 interview. As far as Gadoosh Doosch! (sp?), it has been a running joke with the Level 857 guys for years and comes at about 1:23 from an Electric Playground review of God of War (slightly NSFW):

Tomorrow is our one year countdown to the launch! We have some cool things planned. Stay tuned!

So are you saying you have some things planned for today to start the 1 year countdown?  That's the way I'm reading it...

Personally, I prefer Lady Bug, and to a lesser degree Mouse Trap, over Ms Pac-Man, mainly because of the possibilty to change the maze. Not only this add depth to the gameplay without adding complexity (particularly with Lady Bug where we often "prepare" the maze), but I always found blocking an enemy by closing a door behind me to be satisfying. Do you think it would be possible for the new Pac-Man to include some mazes with this gameplay element?

Great question.  I think you're the first person to ask me about that.  Yes!  We have been working on packaging for about a month now and just like everything else we're doing... it's super unique and really cool!  Won't be sharing that info til 2020 though.

Thanks for the response, and tease! Even the box it seems will have unique appeal and maybe even throwback to the original Intellivision! Can’t wait! Really stoked to watch this unfold, gonna be a looong year to wait and play it tho with my family.

Besides the new website with merch store (yep got a t-shirt on order too) also a new LED Controller Disk video has been released - look like there is a 'Force' column in there - hmm interesting...

"Force" probably measures the pressure sensitivity on the disc.

I'm guessing the force is inferred from the number of contact points (directions) activated when we press on the disc.

More precisely, I'm guessing the part under the disc that makes contact is "rubbery", so the harder we press, the more it "squishes", which allows it to make contact with more than one direction at the same time.

Am I right? (That question is rhetorical only. Because of your parents, I don't expect an answer. 😉 )

So many positive comments online today.  Super cool.

With the bad week (year?) Atari has had, a lot of folks are comparing our updates to theirs.

In the spirit of having a little fun... I'm just gonna leave this here...

Too soon?

:D

I just ordered the shirt and my Friend is as well.

This is so cool,I am so glad to be in on the ground floor of this awesome looking system.

Once it comes out everyone I know will know what Intellivision was and is,and will realize I wasnt crazy collecting for and playing an old system for so many years.

Thank you Tommy and your team for making all this happen now!👍

I think the Gamecube Pacman Vs. was a co-op game.  I think Miyamoto designed it.
