Yeah, that looks really cool, but I agree about the price compared to the Amico.😳

Arcade1Up is smoking the chronic if they think people are going to buy the Mini PONG Jr. at $129 a pop.  Regarding the price of the Amico, I personally think the $250 price is too high.  Just my personal opinion.

$199 for Amico would be ideal and I’m sure within a year it will be that price. I have no problem with the $250 price at launch but I am not the main target audience they are going for.

I am with you.  $199 would be much better for me.  Still, I do wish IE and Tommy the best of luck getting this out and successfully launched.

It is looking more and more like the Founders' Edition was an absolutely amazing deal. The special edition console (signed by Tommy with 2 controllers and 6 games), the poster (signed by the team), the pin, the patch, the soundtrack albums, the $50 gift card... all for only $299. Even the $250 pre-order comes with a lot of sweet incentives that makes the price seem very reasonable.  It does make me hope Tommy doesn't hurt his hand signing all those cards/posters/consoles.

I know this has been addressed here before, but even though you can't compare consoles due to hardware and graphics, let's look strictly at value since many are claiming the price of the Amico is too expensive.  I will try to keep this as simple as possible (*pricing per GameStop):

*PlayStation 5 - $500 (includes 1 controller & no games). New regular priced games range from $30-$130.

*XBox X - $500 (includes 1 controller & no games). New regular priced games range from $30-$130.

*Switch - $300 (includes 1 controller & no games). New regular priced games range from $30-$60.

Amico - $250 (includes 2 controllers & 6 games).  New regular priced games range from $5-$10.

Just looking at value, since it has been said that the Amico is too expensive, when compared what you get to the other consoles, it's laughable when you realize there is no comparison.  Amico wins hands down!  So after looking at this again, if the same conclusion is reached that the Amico is too expensive, then I would love to know your thoughts about the value of other consoles.  Terms like price gouging, way over priced, etc. would come to mind.  After all, if the Amico is being called too expensive, then it must be compared to another system.  Even the comparison of the cost of games is laughable!  Can someone who still disagrees with this comparison please explain to me why it's too expensive?  Is $50 really a tipping point (Amico cost $250 vs $200)?  Look at it this way, for the extra cost of $50, you are getting a second controller and 6 games!  If you were to purchase that for any of the new consoles you would be spending at least another $250 which ironically enough is the cost of another Amico!  I'll end with this...

Playing devil's advocate you'd also have to compare processors, ram, storage to do it fairly.  Price of games comparisons would take development costs, man-hours in to account.

But price is not what should determine which system someone buys.  It should be which system has the games they like best

I added a few items. Taking everything into account, $250 is a great value. Would $199 without the added perks be better? Maybe? You could also add that every game is exclusive, which none of the other consoles have.

$250 is fine with me and I have a Founders Edition on order that I’m super excited for. It’s all about perception and the general public might perceive the $250 price as too high even though it does come with 2 controllers and 6 games. Time will tell. I would pay more that $250 ! But that’s me.

100% agree. My original post did not claim to compare hardware, just value.  Each system in that comparison is different hardware-wise. I just wish someone would tell me why they think the Amico is too expensive.  So far I have not read anything that supports this point.

£250 is an absolute bargain if you ask me. Straight out of the box you can play multiplayer games with your family and friends without having to pay another penny. You don’t even need to buy any extra controllers, just get people to bring there smart phones and they can use them!. Up to £10 a game! I’m so sick of paying £40-£60. All the games/versions of, are exclusive to Amico. Sometimes it’s not what you pay for, but what you don’t pay for. 👍😀

Some just want to complain the price is too high for Amico.  I say wait for a sale then.  I don't think it's that bad.  I pre-ordered the FE and that costs more.  But you get a lot of nice perks with the FE.  I remember when the Nintendo Wii released at $250.  I bought it a year later at the same price and paid for it in cash.  I was fine with the $250 and I really enjoyed the Wii.  The Wii U not so much, lol.

I bought my Wii for $250 on launch day and still play it to this day. If I'm still playing my Founders' Edition Amico 14 years after it launches, then I would say it is definitely a great value.  And based on the hardware video where they talk about designing it to be built to last, I think I will be playing it for years.

At this stage in my life, I like to judge my electronics purchases based on how long they will last me.

I waited a year later and still had trouble finding a Wii.  They were sold out in most places.  I ended up having to pre-order one from Game Stop.  It was like trying to find the Turbo Man toy in that movie Jingle All the Way.  LOL.

If you think about it.  With the FE, you get the $50 gift card.  So, in a way it's like you're getting $50 off the FE.  Making it $250.  That's how I look at it.  As Kenobi would say; "From a certain point of view".  Also, with Tommy's signature on the console, it makes it priceless.

During the final phase of hardware production one of the important things we do is stress test every aspect and element of the hardware. Here is just a small example.

Thanks Tommy!

Great video!  Yeah, post more.  This is the first time anyone has been allowed to be a part of the development of a console like we are being allowed to be.  It's really amazing to see each stage and watch each piece come to fruition.

Looking forward to April!

Thanks for sharing!!

I REALLY WANT AN AMICO IN THAT BRIGHT GREEN COLOR!!!  It's right around 3:15 of the video.

I couldn't tell if it was a hard drive shell, or if it was a failed controller mock-up.

Neon green is my jam!

Used to have a Jeep Wrangler that color!

Please make it so!

Thanks!

Wouldn't that be something?  I like green too.  What about a blue console?
