There are a few card games coming including Spades and I’m hoping to see one of my favorite card games on the Amico ! Please consider Hearts.  Super fun card game !

The AirConsole looks cool, but I don't really like the subscription model. Also, the Amico offers games such as Cornhole, Bomb Squad, Back Talk, Warlords, all the reimagined classics, all the board and card games... And the controller, the lights, the cool music and sounds, the educational games...

Still, the Amico is 7 months away and most of us don't need the educational stuff, so maybe the best approach would be to subscribe for the AirConsole just to play those games with your friends and family on a rare occasion and then unsubscribe immediately until the next party.

Some of the games look decent (I think they have 168 in total):

$250 too expensive for a video game system, but some won't blink at spending $500?! 🙄

Exactly.  I'd take $250 to $300 any day for a new console compared to paying $500.  I think $500 is too much, even $400 is a lot.  That's why it's always good to wait for a sale.  Or buy the console used.

This is great. "My wife's iPhone 10 was like a grand." To send text messages, take some pictures, use Instagram and play "cell phone games" 🤣

I went to my local GameStop today and asked if they had any posters for the Intellivision Amico.  They didn't know what I was talking about.  Lol.  They looked in the back to see if there were any & there wasn't.  But they did say that the posters might come at a later date.  So, I may still try and get one.  Otherwise, I'll just be happy with the poster included with the FE.  Besides, the FE poster is signed by Tommy & the team.

I think the games on the Amico are a little higher quality than Airconsole, and have you seen the boxart for their games? Not exactly enticing.

Yes you do, though it's a little dark, but you can see some of them right there on that thumbnail.

I did some more research and my impressions are:

- Some games look definitely bad (but maybe they can be fun in a so-bad-it's-good way in multiplayer): The soccer game, the racing game.

- Some games are clones of famous games and look pretty decent (but controls in 3D games are probably terrible): A split screen FPS, A Smash Bros clone, a Propeller Arena clone (split screen air combat!), a Bomberman clone...

- Some games seem quite unique: some kind of multiplayer Lemmings clone, some overhead 2D multiplayer shooter that happens inside train wagons...

- There is also a cool looking golf game and several trivia and Pictionary games.

In this review, they say it's a good experience, but the controls are bad in complex games.

Since subscription is only $5 a month, I guess you can always subscribe for only one month and then cancel the service if you, like me, only want to use it a few times a year with your family.

If we're talking card games, since both Tommy and myself have italian backgrounds how about an italian card game pack?  Briscola, Tresette, Scopa to name a few.  Make it happen Tommy!

Some won’t blink at spending that on a single rare game, which usually means it’s a bad game or some H-fold vs V-fold business.

Another week... another TON of really exciting info and plateaus to share!

First up... As a lot of you may already be aware, GameStop started promoting Amico in their retail stores!  And this is just the beginning as we're still 8 months from launch!

Here are the posters that are being put up all over the United States in thousands of GameStop retail outlets:

And here is a 15 second video that is being broadcast in GameStop locations:

And here are print and digital ads that thousands of stores have and millions of people receive via e-mail.  Right in there with the biggest entertainment franchise in history (Pokemon) and side by side to Playstation 5, Xbox & Nintendo.   :)

Starting to get real enough for folks?

p.s.  It says Gamestop EXCLUSIVE on there.

:D

Congrats! I have to ask if any retailers are planning Amico "Flash" sales? 🤣

At my GameStop, they don't have the poster up yet.  I even asked if they have posters to give away and they don't.  The employee didn't know what I was talking about.  I told him it's the Intellivision Amico.  And that GameStop is selling the Galaxy Purple Amico as an exclusive.  But like you said the general public doesn't know the Amico exists yet.

Amidst all this cool stuff. Another Retail casualty.

I was hoping to at least get one Amico game at Fry's electronics.  It doesn't look like I get to do that now.. Fry's is no more.

http://frys.com/

If you don't know - Think of a Best Buy and a Micro Center tossed together under one roof. About the size of a Super Walmart.  Sad to see it go. The Fry's of the 80's/90's/early2k's was amazing. Rows of everything. Plus most of the stores had amazing themes. From Myan, to Egyptian. To Almost Steampunk. (Fremont California). The original Fremont fry's was right next to the NeXt factory.

That big gazebo thing in the center, was a Tesla Coil. It would go off at random times. VERY LOUD...  But soo fun. I bought soooo much stuff here.

Looks pretty cool! I always wanted one of those nearby, but looks like that's not happening any time soon...To say the least.

But Micro Center, that might make a good Amico retailer. They've already got a "Retro Gaming" section set up recently (though that's currently filled with Raspberry Pi and home arcade kits).

I am really troubled by this post.  If this is in fact what is going on in Illinois then if you live in that state you need contact those house representatives and let them know how they are infringing on your first amendment rights and that they need to be voted out of office.  There are ESRB ratings on games for a reason.  There doesn’t need to be a ban forced on by the government.  There are plenty of violent movies, but you don’t see them trying to ban them.  There is music that has violence in the lyrics, but you don’t see them trying to ban them (well they tried with Ozzy’s “Satanic” and suicide lyrics, but that failed).

I’m glad that the article went on to convey the fact that there is no scientific evidence that video games lead to violence.

If this passes it sets an extremely bad precedence. I don’t need the government censoring what I can or cannot buy.
