Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

For those late night Astrosmash, EWJ4,Tron, Tempest, Rigid Force Redux, Gex, and ET sessions when everyone is asleep, will we be able to pair our headphones with the Amico? I don't want to wake up the family.

I can't remember if this has been asked before, but I would like to know as well. This is a feature on Stadia that I like, especially with games with a lot going on (Destiny 2, etc.).

A big fan of both Snestastic AKA The Amico Kid and Cyrus Martin (fellow Dallasite, er Dallasonian ?). Sure to be some good retro and Amico talk in this one.

Possibly, but it's not something we'll support right away. We're already pushing the limits for the number of connections and the amount of data we can push through a single bluetooth host. Perhaps a future firmware update will add support, but we'll probably be busy adding cool new accessories instead!

With that in mind though... a lot of tvs nowadays already support bluetooth audio. Why not pair your headphones to the tv?

Tommy and @RxScram commented on this back in April of last year. Doesn't sound like headphone audio is a priority but I thought the accessories comment was particularly interesting...

It's a good question.  We don't have any kind of headphone jack on the hardware itself, so you would need to plug your headphones into your stereo receiver in order to achieve that.

I'm trying to think of the last time a game system had a stereo jack on the console itself.  Was it the Sega Genesis?

Tommy,

Are there going to be any Imagic games at launch?  I think Safe Cracker is one of them. I'm hoping to see at least 2 or 3 Imagic games at launch.

Not at launch.

It's 35 games at launch.  10 are supposed to be physical.  Then that means 25 are digital.  Unless this changes due to the delay.

35 is our goal.  No promises.  :)

Hi Everyone!

I'm typically the one who gets a lot of the questions... so I thought I'd ask everyone here one.  :)

Trying to be as non-biased to your own wants/needs... at this point, if you had a choice for a new video would it be...

1.  Brand new game footage of something we haven't really showed before (or at least too much of).

2.  A game showing off what the controller can do and why it's unique.

3.  In depth interview with one of our developers.

4.  In depth interview with someone on the Intellivision team (who isn't me!).  If so... who or what department?

5.  An interview or focus test with moms, families, seniors.

6.  Suggest a subject to me not listed!

No need to pick just one either, feel free to give them back to me in order of importance and with notes, suggestions.

Thanks!!!

p.s.  Please don't ask about physical media.  We're saving that for a very special partner.

1. & 2. would certainly be my favorites. I would also like to see the results of a survey within the whole intellivision team concerning the games you already talk about in public: What are the current top 5 concerning gameplay, graphic and soundtrack within your team? Maybe you can also share some early information on further hardware development of add-ons, I am thinking about something like ringfit or the wii fit board.

# 2 for me. Not only would I like it, I think it would help a lot people who don’t quite get the Amico

Then a tie between #3 and #4. If a developer I would like them to talk about the Amico game/family philosophy, working with Intellivision and how that is different. If #4 definitely someone in engineering, QA or maybe customer service.

Finally of course #1 is ALWAYS welcome

As long as you don't count handhelds, pretty sure it was the PC Engine DUO.

Nope, looks like it was the PC Engine LT.

4. Bill Fisher I saw him in an interview with other Blue Sky Rangers and the details in is stories made Gus fascinating interview so I’d really enjoy getting to hear an interview about the new system.

5. I just think a focus test/interview would be interesting to see why others are excited

2. Showing off the controller capabilities would be fun to see since it’s such a different controller and such a huge focus of the system

3.  I really have enjoyed other developers segments in videos and getting an in depth interview would be great.

1. As much as I love the game play trailers and they are always welcome for me the idea of different types of videos is too intriguing to pass up

All these are good. The question that occurs to me when thinking about this is “who is going to be viewing this at this time?”  If it is still going to be mostly gaming community, then I would save #2 and #5 until closer to launch when more widespread marketing will reach the casual target.

If you believe word of mouth on #2 and #5 will spread to the casual market in good amounts from this, then I would not worry about holding back. I just think if the gaming community is pretty much the sole audience at this time, #1 and #3 are more on point right now.
