Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

I’ll go with #1.

Quote

1.  Brand new game footage of something we haven't really showed before (or at least too much of).

Hey Tommy,

My selfish choice is 1.  But I think you don't need to have the conversation about how all those games are a Work in Progress.

I think 2 would be an amazing video. (Don't give away too much as you want to save some surprises). Same with the console. Keep some of the cool things in your pocket.

Call these hybrids of 3:

Think of it as not really an interview. An open "letter" to people interested in the system. Or even on the fence. Get people that have been in the industry for a bit. Especially people who have worked on previous platforms. Or even the 3 newest ones. Showcasing what makes the Amico different. Have them address some of the criticisms of the Amico. Including the perceived lack of power of the system. Show off something cool about the system that none of the others can do.

Another version of 3 would be to have some of the backers come out and say why they have backed the Amico. While not mentioning by name, they could compare the other crowd sourced consoles out there and how this is different.

The more I think about it.. A montage of #5 would be pretty cool -  Ask the focus group/moms/seniors/devs one question: Something along the lines of "What was your favorite part of the system"? OR "What surprised you the most after playing the system"? If they give you answers about aspects of the system that you have not yet revealed... Put a censored mark over their lips like they are swearing.  With a disclaimer at the beginning of the video about the bleeping of the words. Keep it humorous.

Sneak Reggie into any of the videos as Soccer dad 12...  Or Partner number 18...  And have him talk about the console.

Hi Everyone!

Some GREAT responses and thoughts so far.  Appreciate it!  It's 1am on Sunday here so I can't go through each one and give feedback, but just know that I've read them all!

I'll try to get to the specific questions sometime during the week and for those who haven't answered... please feel free to do so.  It's an open invitation.

Thanks!!!  Very helpful!

Tommy,

There's a game called the Great Giana Sisters.  The game has a neat story and also has some cool power ups and items.  This game was on many platforms.  It had 5 sequels.  The first game looks similar to Super Mario Bros.  But it has a different story, characters, etc.  Would you consider having the original game on Amico?  It would be great to see this get re-imagined.

Also has excellent music. I like playing the bass to the main in game track

Hi Everyone!

I'm typically the one who gets a lot of the questions... so I thought I'd ask everyone here one.

Trying to be as non-biased to your own wants/needs... at this point, if you had a choice for a new video would it be...

1.  Brand new game footage of something we haven't really showed before (or at least too much of).

2.  A game showing off what the controller can do and why it's unique.

3.  In depth interview with one of our developers.

4.  In depth interview with someone on the Intellivision team (who isn't me!).  If so... who or what department?

5.  An interview or focus test with moms, families, seniors.

6.  Suggest a subject to me not listed!

No need to pick just one either, feel free to give them back to me in order of importance and with notes, suggestions.

Thanks!!!

p.s.  Please don't ask about physical media.  We're saving that for a very special partner.

Tough choice paesano. Everyone loves seeing new games, but I'm also intrigued on more in depth info about the controller and showing some of the unique ways it can be used within a game. I'm torn.

Tommy, for me #2 and #4 for supply chain, explaining (if possible of course) how they are facing the nowadays scenario of electronic components scarcity and the delivery scenarios of Amico to the various world regions. Thanks.

In order of interest:

2,1,5 and 4.

#2 because I would like to see the controller featured more in the videos of gameplay. I would like to understand the complexity level more since my son is 7 and depending on the menus and complexity of controls, he can get frustrated with some games pretty quickly.

#1 because who doesn't want to see more new game footage that hasn't been released yet?

#5 because I do focus groups in my work quite a bit so I am kind of a nerd for this stuff. I really want to see more of the target market feedback and interest since most of what is out there is from diehards and people who are familiar with the original intellivision.

Most people in my parent groups are interested in gaming beyond Sony and Xbox because both of those are cost prohibitive, time consuming and geared towards older kids. They don't really know Intellivision. Nintendo remains the main theme when casual video gaming is brought up, especially around suitability for their kids and their family.

#4 because it would be interesting to hear about some of the logistics and marketing aspects of the launch. Also maybe a feature on the package design from the designer or design agency would be great.

IE needs pet items in their store. Banking, pharmaceuticals, kids and pets; that’s where the money is to be made.

Examples - Running Man with leashed dog graphic dog bowls, pet bags and auto vinyl stickers, Amico dog hats & running man leashes and collars.

How do you know that the shrink wrap is original when buying retro Intellivision shrink wrapped games?

Its funny,I noticed all the dog references.

I have 3 cats, have always owned cats, and if the family intellivision shirts had a cat on them I would already own one.

But instead it had the much preferred family pet,a dog on it.

Which of course is perfect for dog owners!😺

I’m allergic to cats, but same argument can be made for Amico cat items.

Queue the bird lovers on where they are covered - 5, 4, 3...

(FYI, not allergic to birds)

I thought this video did a good job of enumerating some of the "controversy" points with the Amico.  Most of the listed reasons are probably not news to the folks here, but it might be a handy video to share with some of the folks on the fence.

Here's the scan of the 2 page feature article from Edge magazine that came out a few weeks ago!

As some of you may know, Edge magazine is probably the biggest and most revered and prestigious video game magazine in Europe.

Pretty cool!
