Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Now that we know the 8 physical games for launch, it's a good time to bring back this question ! 😁

( We have some pre-orders to do ! 😉 )

Could we have them shipped along with our Founders Edition ?  ( Or/And VIP ? )

A question for my logistics team that I don't know the answer to.  I'll ask and get back to you.

I am guessing because they expect delivery 10/10 and they are thinking they need to build some shipping time in there. All of this stuff is usually automated so somebody types in 'warehouse delivery date' at 10/10/2021 and bingo an email gets sent out to all pre-orders about a 3 day shipping delay. I would put little stock into this email, most likely the result of automated responses over actual decisions made.

I think you're right about dates being changed and emails automatically popping out, GrudgeQ. I just looked and Amazon UK are now saying the console launch date is 7 October! I wonder if the Sunday release day may be a small factor in this; it's quite unusual for a gaming product to launch on that day. I guess we just sit tight and the official 10 October release date will be applied nearer the time :-).

Any Dragon's Lair fans?

Dragon's Lair? Absolutely - I own it for the Atari Jaguar CD, where it's great! 🙂
Are you accidentally revealing the big announcement for this week, though?

As a console though, rather too "busy", visually, but my first though was Halloween,
and then I got to puzzling over what my favourite ghostly family game would be...

Also re: a port, Dragon's Lair as a download would be surprising for the Amico, as
it's electronic only, but then I remember that the download maximum size is 1GB,
and the Jaguar CD maxed-out at 790 MB, back in the day, so that is doable also. 😮

Awesome work bro!   That looks fantastic!

Next up... the "Princess Daphne Edition" - IE best selling edition... I wonder why?

If they can allow Daphne/Singe to be ported to the Amico language, you could pulldown the newly re-mastered 720/1080p versions of DL, SA, DL2 and Cliff Hanger and play them all on the Amico.

I hope they do.

Thanks to you I just found a great way to have a personal "man day" whenever I want one...

wife:  What are you doing and why are you sweating so much?!?  What is that?!?!

me:  I'm diffusing a bomb!

wife: a WHAT?!?!?!

me:  a BOMB... B...O...M...B... BOMB!

Wife runs out of house and initiates Man Day protocol!  nice.... 😎

Here's a really cool article that just came out.  Had some nice things to say like...

"...the forthcoming family-friendly Intellivision Amico is picking up steam..."

and

"...the Amico seems positioned to be something of a dark horse in the race for consumer’s dollars this upcoming holiday season."

Although the headline for "some" people will be...
"It may look a little bit like an at-home foot spa,"

:D :D :D

Here's the latest shell for the Galaxy Purple Amico!

The new darker silver is AWESOME!

What do you think??

Is the purple finalized?  I thought it was going to have a "flip-flop" finish (i.e. looks blue at some angles, but purple at most angles).  Like the PRS Silver Sky Nebula.

Tommy, you can tell the truth about the inspiration. Nobody will be shocked.

It's actually modelled on the inside of one the Amico devkits, isn't it, which feature extra security?
It's so that if any one of them falls into the wrong hands, they can be set to self-destruct remotely!

Any developer who leaks anything, will be remotely eliminated, "Terminator style", by the InTV HQ. :-D
That photo is from your GTO Red model, activated for the Texas event, to keep it safe from Brett Weiss...

It all make sense now.

Just found out the Evercade VS Founder Edition is planning to feature every "Founder's" name in the credits of all Evercade VS consoles. Wouldn't it be cool if Amico did the same thing?

That would be cool. I was able to preorder one. Along with the Amico, I will be having fun from October on.

We tried a version like that but because the surface area of the top is so small and shaped the way it is... it didn't translate well.  Those kinds of multi-surface colors work great on larger surface areas like cars, guitars, etc. but not the top of an Amico or the controllers.  Also important to note that the surface is 3 separate parts.  2 controllers and the top of the console.  It would be almost impossible to make it all match correctly.  Meaning... you may see a portion of the blue on one controller, but not on the other.  It just looked really odd.

The purple we have now looks a LOT better... especially in person.  Everyone who sees it in person is really taken aback.  The pictures don't even do it justice.

Of course, before anyone makes a final decision to purchase (i.e. not just pre-order) we will have all of the final pictures available so folks will be able to make their choices from the final product and not just a render.

Shhhh!!!!   Stop giving away all our secrets!

Why do you think we hired @RxScram from the military and our other lead hardware engineer whose last project was with the Blackhawk Helicopter.

BLACK-OPS!

I wonder where they are putting it?  I'll have to ask.

I pre-ordered my Limited Edition black (which comes with the Intellivision Collection!) earlier today!

Yo Everyone!

I thought a lot of folks here (especially @cmart604!) might be interested in this!

It's a one-of-a-kind Amico Dev Kit shell signed by some of the Intellivision team members that helped to create it!

After successfully helping to raise thousands of dollars for CHOC through Intellivision (which I know some of the folks in here helped out with!), we were approached to donate something cool as an auction item to help raise more money for the CHOC Foundation (Children's Hospital).

I thought this would be pretty cool.  It just went live!

Will be interesting to see how much it will end up raising for charity.  Someone is going to get a pretty cool one-of-a-kind collectors item!

Anyone want to make a guess on how much it will end up going for??

The auction ends on June 12th.

Another fun read.  To me, it sounds more likely than not, that it will come out in October!!! I know.. We'll know by mid-July.

I can already hear the detractors:

Tommy promised 35 games at launch..  20 + 6 pack-in games = 26..  And it goes on from there. ANOTHER BROKEN PROMISE..

I do have a request for @Tommy Tallarico: After the Amico hits shelves, I would like to hear about all the refinements, changes, and everything that you had to do to get it in stores. Behind the curtain. How the component shortages and delay changed things for your team. Not only the bad. But the good. Did it change things like: Physical media? I know this would be a stretch. But what about packaging?  How did it affect the Wouldn't that be somethingTM announcements?  Has it? It would be a fun tale. A  little video documentary. Or just in chat form on one of OEB Pete's shows. I think it would find an audience.  I know I'd watch it!

I see this shell has a single-color finish, like the newer design for white Amico consoles. Is that color scheme how the black Amico consoles will look?

Our press release actually said "MORE" than 20.  Which means 21.  Plus 6 pack in's, so that makes it at least 27.  :)

Pretty impressive considering all of our games are curated, are 100% exclusive or contain exclusive content (i.e. NO direct ports!) and we're a small start up who is also creating completely new hardware from the ground up and with a lot of things that have never been attempted in the game industry before.

Oh hell yes!  I definitely want to do that.  For all the "talking" and question answering I do on a daily basis all over the internet... it's only about 5% of the stuff that is going on.

I think people would be pretty amazed at all of the complex things and decisions that are being made on a daily basis from top to bottom.  And we still have more to go!

Definitely need to do some videos at some point.
