Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

I see this shell has a single-color finish, like the newer design for white Amico consoles. Is that color scheme how the black Amico consoles will look?

No.  This is only one of the Dev Kits.  I think we have about 4 or 5 different Dev Kit color combos.  The most rare one is the red one.  There are only 2 of those.

I have one... and Scott (who is working on Bomb Squad) has the other.

Definitely need to do some videos at some point.

Please! I really enjoyed the "viral style" video you made with the team, where you were welding an Amico...

I suspect that it also got more views, than all the long chats you've had with small YouTubers, collectively,
and nearly everybody enjoys that kind of self-deprecating humour. It might be a great opportunity to show
off the updated systems, the more completed HQ, or some new game footage, via your staff in a playroom.

Oh, and I'm not disparaging the small YouTubers, but I don't have the time to watch 2-3 hours video-chats,
ever. I drag the the time-bar through the chat videos, in a couple of minutes, mostly, looking for the 😮s.)

A snappy "viral style" video once a month would grab my attention and that of my friends.

Yo Everyone!

I thought a lot of folks here (especially @cmart604!) might be interested in this!

It's a one-of-a-kind Amico Dev Kit shell signed by some of the Intellivision team members that helped to create it!

After successfully helping to raise thousands of dollars for CHOC through Intellivision (which I know some of the folks in here helped out with!), we were approached to donate something cool as an auction item to help raise more money for the CHOC Foundation (Children's Hospital).

I thought this would be pretty cool.  It just went live!

Will be interesting to see how much it will end up raising for charity.  Someone is going to get a pretty cool one-of-a-kind collectors item!

Anyone want to make a guess on how much it will end up going for??

The auction ends on June 12th.

https://e.givesmart.com/events/lzg/i/_Auction/e2IN/

Cool! Signed up to bid

Of course, before anyone makes a final decision to purchase (i.e. not just pre-order) we will have all of the final pictures available so folks will be able to make their choices from the final product and not just a render.

Looking forward to it.

Now that we know the 8 physical games for launch, it's a good time to bring back this question ! 😁

( We have some pre-orders to do ! 😉 )

The question of if we could pre order all 8 physical games with our FE or VIP is interesting. The only concern I would have is a box being damaged in shipping. It would be super exciting to get all of the games with the console without having to seek them out.

I too am a bit concerned about damage during shipping.

I'd like to make sure retail gets some of the love as well. I f nothing else but to keep them incentivized to keep the Amico on the shelves. I may do a combo of online/retail.  Or just purchase all the physical games at the store.

I'm sure by the time it hits the stores, we'll know who/what/where to go. I wonder if there will be exclusives at certain retail chains? You can only get this packaging at Walmart. The physical media/pack in stuff is different at Gamestop. Amazon will have a "special" Steelbox of Earthworm Jim..  OR will the Physical versions of some games be only be available at -insert store here- ?

Here's a really cool article that just came out.  Had some nice things to say like...

"...the forthcoming family-friendly Intellivision Amico is picking up steam..."

and

"...the Amico seems positioned to be something of a dark horse in the race for consumer’s dollars this upcoming holiday season."

Although the headline for "some" people will be...
"It may look a little bit like an at-home foot spa,"

:D :D :D

I just noticed one of the signers: Tommy Tallarico, Bill Fisher, Steve Roney, John Alvarado, Slade Simpson, Mike Kosco, Mike Dietz and Ed Schofield.

@cmart604 may have some competition ;)

Looks who is going to E3 virtual:

I can see Tommy getting up on the virtual stage and doing a Video games Live type show.. Have Bruce Boxleitner  read through all the announcements. Maybe make a cool stage at a warehouse in LA someplace.

Have a bombshell of announcement at the end of the show.  Something that has not been talked about anywhere.

E3 will be dicey though for the gang at IE without knowing until the following month whether they will make launch, do a soft launch, or have to push it again.  Im sure they will come up with some strategy and wordsmithing but this computer chip shortage really makes it hard for a lot of these manufacturers to talk with any kinda of assurances ( through no fault of their own)

So I hope people cut them some slack, it wont just be IE that is in this predicament, shortages are everywhere.  I mean even sand is in short supply..freakin sand.. did you know there is a deadly sand mafia...  wtf..

Quote

Nowhere is the violence worse than in India, home to the world's deadliest "sand mafias." Criminal gangs there have burned journalists alive, hacked activists to death and run over police officers with trucks. A report last year from the South Asia Network on Dams, Rivers and People, an environmental group based in Delhi, counted 193 people who died through illegal sand mining in India over the last two years. The main causes of death were poor working conditions, violence and accidents.

I'm looking forward to seeing what form the Amico physical games take and, inspired by the excellent new artwork released by Intellivision for the upcoming Biplanes game, I had fun designing a game case.

Here's the latest shell for the Galaxy Purple Amico!

The new darker silver is AWESOME!

What do you think??

The Sesame Street gang think the new shell design is awesome! Especially The Count! (he's been an early adopter of the Galaxy Purple since the very beginning, "AH AH AH!")

I'd love to start doing some more of those funny type videos, the issue with those type of videos though (the funny ones we put together with the controller, etc.) is that it takes a LOT of time, energy, editing, etc. to make them good.

At this point we have so much more important things on our plate to do videos for.  A lot of corporate, retail and convention stuff we've been working on for the past month or so.

But those type of funny videos will be coming... just not at a pace everyone would like (including myself!).

:)

You're actually kinda close!

But instead of the dark blue... you should use our "Amico" blue.

One of the cool things about Amico boxes is that they are NOT just those plastic clam shell thingies that EVERYONE has been using over the past 30 years (with the cheap thin paper stuffed in them).

We wanted to do something more reminiscent of the old days where art and print were actually put ON the box.  Not printed on paper and inserted into a clam shell.

:)
