Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

I thought we were getting videos possibly Wednesday but if not, Thursday, Friday and the weekend.  I've not gotten an Intellivision email or seen anything on here.  Are they delayed or am I stuck in one of those horrible dreams I sometimes have, where everyone seems to know what's going on except me?

I thought the same thing too. But Tommy has pushed it back to Monday video/Tuesday pre-order.

Yes, but video gameplay should arrive anytime soon. I think they have 3 videos to show. One each day before ordering FE or before email. (Email monday, preorder Tuesday).

So we should have a video today (and I really hope because it feeds haters and creates doubts for some supporters.)

We should have gameplay from Night Stalker, video from skiing ( gameplay ? ) and a video with some dice in it.

I hope it will be one today, one Saturday, one Sunday, then Monday email, Tuesday Pre Order. 😉

I understand they want to make a really good first impression ( new things they are adding to those titles ), and I understand we are in desperate wait since Monday ! lol

Wait til she sees the stuff we'll be promotion after the summer.  A lot more motion control stuff.  The things I'm showing now are more geared towards hardcores as they are the only ones really paying attention at this point.

She really liked the Breakout footage. It surprised me as anyone not roughly around our ages sometimes look at the older games as blah. I do think the nice updated look and slight difference in gameplay helps. I like breakout but lets be honest by today's standards its basic. I haven't played it to know but it at least seems a refreshing take on an old game.

Depending on how much footage comes out I will be curious to see her reaction to amy new stuff when we get to talking about games and such. She was wondering if the 'english' on the ball was caused by motion?

Edit: Just saw the Taco VCS stuff. What we're seeing is just people who are bored with nothing to discuss venting their random thoughts. But don't allow it to bleed into this thread.

They have their containment thread and anyone can be critical, it's easy. They're allowed to be critical. But I think it was totally inappropriate of CPUWIZ to bring it in at all. If he hadn't, I wouldn't even know or care about that. Don't let their stuff taint this thread.

I don't want to stir up the controversy yet again (so feel free to skip this post if you're tired of hearing about it), but I suspect that CPUWIZ posted his message in both places because some of the people who've been blocked from this thread continue to follow itfor example, there's nothing preventing them from logging out and viewing it in guest mode—and that this was simply a way of ensuring that they all saw it.  I don't think the message was meant for most of you here.

I don't know how many times we've all gone out of our way to say that rational concerns and criticisms are welcomed and encouraged, so it is regrettable that it became necessary to block anyone at all.  The concerns that they initially raised were also raised about other console projects in the past—and by some of the same people—and they ultimately proved to be right in the case of the RetroVGS/Chameleon in particular.  The problem is not that these concerns were raised at all, but that even after they were satisfactorily addressed (in many instances by Tommy himself), those people would not let them go, and they ultimately escalated into baseless accusations and borderline paranoia.  That kind of behavior, no matter by whom practiced, cannot be allowed to run rampant.

However, I for one am determined not to allow all that drama to detract from the discussion here.  We'll all do our best to keep it positive and constructive.

Thank you for the clarification, you are not stirring things up.

Discussion on both sides is good and to be totally honest, Jberel and other folks were very critical but very fair and non-judgmental, just  too overbearing about their thoughts. Not everyone wants to spend all their time thinking negatively of something, I myself am just here hoping this works out fine and want it to succeed.

Regarding the Chameleon, it is better to hope for something good than be so skeptical due to the past you automatically say no one deserves anything... and then continue fighting to try to convince others of that same viewpoint. Amico for what it's worth has nothing in common with Chameleon or Gameband or any of that nonsense. And these people know that, surely.

Tommy needs to see both sides of the coin because it will better equip him for when his device actually launches. By trying to shout him down or mock his concepts (or the design of the console) you are not really doing anything at all. It's better to simply challenge him and ask him questions than insult him, make accusations, or worse, become paranoid.

Tommy if you are reading this you can also squash this rumor now - there is word circulating Pat and Ian won't talk to you because you tried to make them sign an NDA.

Yeah... that's what I was thinking as well.  I think the CPUWIZ post wasn't really meant for the folks in here... more for the banned folks in here (and their friends) who are still lurking and reporting back so they can disrupt other threads.  You know who you are.  :D :D :D :D :D

It is hilarious that folks come in here all the time with concerns or counter-points or questions and we've always answered questions with respect.  But some "folks" just can't stand the fact that I answered their questions in a way that proved my point against theirs.  That's when some folks "snap" and their only goal at that point is to continue poking the bear so that when folks in here (or myself) hit back... they can claim that everyone is in the cult and we can't take criticism.

Pathetic.  Grow up children.  You're literally throwing hate at a video game system you've never played.

In other news...

4 minutes and 2 levels of continuous Night Stalker ON THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!  I'm going to let it fly on YouTube first, then social media then will post here.  But please Subscribe to our YouTube page so you'll always get notified of the videos first.

I don’t understand the question. Why wouldn’t Tommy have them sign an NDA? Why would he allow someone to blab all their proprietary information and trade secrets so others can steal them?

I can't even let you into my office, with an NDA. LOL

If that would be the case it means that Tommy actually reached out to them and they told him that they were not going to sign an NDA, which Tommy never stated himself.

It would make more sense to hear it from Tommy saying that Pat and Ian denied talking to him due to that fact I guess.

I agree though - of course they would need to sign one. But they never came out and said that the NDA was the reason either did they? They just made it seem like they had no interest to talk at all.

I guess Tommy can answer if he wants but from everything I’ve seen he offered for them to come visit in a video and on twitter after they said they wouldn’t interview him and they said they never watched the video or responded to his requests, so unless both parties are not mentioning a private conversation, it seems like someone is just blowing up a hypothetical situation that the two parties never got to.

That is correct.  NEVER said that and never even talked to them about any of this (outside Twitter and some YouTube posts they deleted of mine).

Just more lies spread by these immature folks looking to disparage me and a video game system they've never played.

Pathetic.

OK, the new Nigh t Stalker video has just been posted. Looks really cool, but I never expected the Lost in Space robot to take such a turn toward the dark side. Dr. Smith Tallarico must have altered his programming.

Smash JT came to our office and I showed him a bunch of proprietary secrets.  And I never made him sign an NDA.

Look what the "bat" dragged in! Night Stalker!! Intellivision Amico Founders Edition goes on pre-sale Monday afternoon!

Designed originally by Steve Montero and released in 1982 , the original Night Stalker game on Intellivision was one of the most popular and biggest selling games for the original system. So much so that it was ported to other consoles including the Atari 2600 (aka Dark Cavern) as well as the Apple II & IBM PC (1983).

Our Amico Retro Re-imagined version is being done by the incredibly talented and award winning developers at Other Ocean & Digital Eclipse while personally be programmed by retro legend and historian Mike Mika. Aside from single player, you can play with up to 4 players. Including Co-Op (as seen in this video) or Versus modes.

Although Amico's broader appeal will cater to families and casual gamers, we also have games to be enjoyed by more serious gamers who are looking to enjoy the challenges of couch co-op and in person versus modes at a little higher level. Night Stalker is such a game.

Please note: This is only a small unfinished sampling of what the game will ultimately be like. Many more surprises on the way! This was recorded and played directly from the Intellivision Amico system.
