Yeah, basically some Power Stone 2 or Poy Poy style game. These are the "fighting games" the Amico should aim for.

I would love to see this. It is great for couch play. Also it makes a good button mashing party game.

I think so too. Whether it's a unique game, or a retheme, or Spy vs Spy, something crazy like that would be great.

Been watching some Disney+ tonight and got me thinking about a great 2player SNES game. Goof Troop my mother would get into this game and play with us. It was both accessible yet had a few puzzles that were semi difficult but not beyond kids capability. If you have the disney license this would be a great game to redo or have a similar game. It would work great for Amico. One button to pick up/throw, one button to use item. Touch screen could switch items.

If you haven't played it you should.

And yes I was watching Goof Troop.

You could do that and you would maybe get my mother and one of my younger siblings hooked.

A Power Stone style fighting game would be incredible! Wish Capcom would do something with that franchise.

Tommy, you've mentioned that you're launching later here in Japan than the rest of the world. Any plans for Tokyo Game Show this year or next year? If you're going to be here this year, hopefully my Founders Edition gets to me before then so I can maybe have you sign it again!

I imagine that that this will be a more difficult market for you than the USA given the trends (older and declining population, low birthrate, etc.), but as you have stated, getting people to try it is important. Demo units in train stations, perhaps? Shinjuku station is the most heavily trafficked train station in the world, but it's probably too crowded and busy for a bunch of people to stand there and clog up the hallways testing it.

You've mentioned that one of the reasons that the Xbox (and now the whole Xbox brand as a result) was stillborn here in Japan is that they tried to appeal too much to the Japanese rather than focusing on non-Japanese games, and also that social gatherings are done outside the home due to the size limitations. I'm not into Xbox (and there's no point since lots of stores don't even stock Xbox stuff at all), but the thing about the space limitation is absolutely true.

What's your plan to overcome these things? Can't do much about the sizes of people's houses, but I guess you could do something showing families hiding under the kotatsu together in the winter with the Amico. It is true that lots of Japanese people move back in with or close to their families to take care of them when they get older or sick, though, so Amico could give them something to do together. There's currently a giant ad for some Switch brain training game at Ebisu station that I see on the train to work every day (my train car stops DIRECTLY in front of it) with some lady who is like maybe 30~40 with some old dude (her father?) playing that game together. Obviously you probably can't talk about much of this stuff yet, but I'm very interested to see what sort of plan you have for the Japanese market.

A lot of the NES-era Capcom Disney games were fantastic as well!  Rescue Rangers would be a pretty sweet co-op game.

We've been playing 'A Boy And His Blob' on the PS4, it's been good as our children have been suggesting ideas on how to progress in each level, wish it wasn't a 1 player game though ;-)

I am curious which kind you are talking about.  Do you have a link, that isn't a clickbait blog link?  I've played around with this hardware recently and reading and writing sectors to 2 different kinds (chain dot and credit card sized), worked just fine.  Does what you are talking about, have something to do with distance?  They do suck at that, for sure.  Cheers. :)

I'm referring to the Dropmix cards which use RFID technology. Each Dropmix card was like a trading card and had an RFID chip emedded inside. One of the cards I received in one of the card packs contained a dead RFID chip - the Dropmix system could not read it. A replacement card worked fine. Of course that's only one bad one out of hundreds of cards I had. But I don't play it much either. Quite a few people ion the Reddit Dropmix community also posted about their defective RFRID Dropmix cards. One day they were working, next day suddenly they could no longer be read.

Now, maybe that's partly due to how that tech was used in the cards. I don't know. It was basically a trading card with a chip sandwiched in-beteen the card layers. You'd then play the cards onto the Dropmix board which was linked to your phone with the Dropmix app, and the RFID readers on the board read the cards and interacted with the app. The cards (and chip) were of course flexible so maybe the flexing of the chip contributed to some of them failing. Those cards could get a lot of abuse between handling, shuffling and playing.

Wait what there is another Amico thread! :)

Tommy, the fact that you keep being a meat shield for all the haters hate out there just makes the supporters of the Amico more resolved in our support.  Thanks for taking the bullets and not stooping to their level, even though we would get a kick out of you pwning a bunk of these haters by using their own shyte against them.

I personally will not stop talking and discussing the Amico.  I am not banking on 100% nostalgia for my fandom.  I am genuinely intrigue and excited for Amico as a console in 2020, not as some retro machine like so many naysayers spew.  The Amico is a modern console with unique and compelling features that I think it will fill a gaping void in the gaming ecosystem, that sentiment is lost on many many people.

As somebody who follows the other thread, it's not the hate-filled train wreck some would have you believe. I post on both threads, and that thread is mostly just lots of questions and speculation. Nothing really aggressive and I see very little hate there. Having doubts about a system like this is not hate. I'm fully behind this but that doesn't mean I don't have questions, worries, doubts or fears. Just because some people express their reservations about this system doesn't mean they should be thrown into the "haters" category. That will just push more people away.

What worries and fears? That it would spread a dysenterious virus around the world that would kill half of the population?

It's an entertainment device, for crying out loud!😷

Just curious... since @Tommy Tallarico mentioned that the issues over in China with the virus is affecting everyone, including Intellivision too, for when Amico will ship... my question is... with the 1st showing of Amico at E3, will this possibly mean we will not see Amico at E3 then?  Or, is there enough in place already for a handful of Amico to be made in time so we can still see it in all it's glory come E3.

Why would people have these , Its not like anyone there has anything invested in this venture. Also all those concerns have been addressed countless times over and over by the CEO of IE with hard data, facts , focus groups ext....... Even getting info on  private company information that usually doesnt occur in any new venture.  Everything you have mentioned here really is IE's and the Investors concerns. Not people that may or may not like or buy the Amigo.  So I'm sure peoples opinions vary on what's really going on in that other thread. And which people will get pushed away? 5 or 6 posting/or reading that thread? Just asking don't know who you are referring to.

Hitting the VR subject for a second.  People need to consider the following

VR is definitely a more secluded experience... locally.  But, online gaming in VR is a much more social affair.  I’ve played a golf game on the quest with someone in Austria and what made the game so awesome is the body language that VR tracking provides.  So when you miss a shot, or you made a great one, it’s immersive as the guy is really right beside you, it’s not just some voice you hear on the headset with an avatar playing precanned animations beside you.  And that awesomeness will only get better with technology

in saying that of course the focus of Amico’s couch coop is unbeatable, nothing like nhl94 feel man.   But the reality is not all my friends can come over so for online multiplayer, I’m glad VR Exists

Goof Troop has been on my wish list for far too long and I need to finally pick it up!

I know someone mentioned this to Tommy on one of the you tube shows, but it really was one of the best two players games on the SNES.  The subject matter was great, the music was awesome and it was just a blast to play

It was me lol.  It's one of my fav Lucas arts games.  Imagine this at 4 to 8 players and when you die you could be turned into a zombie or other horror character.   Could do team  vs co op .  Could even do so e fu. Takes on classic  team ca like a capture the flag during a zombie out break .  Or  two rival families  having to collect t survival supplies as a bonus multilayer  game type  outside of the main game story .

Unfortunately, I did not grow up with an Intellivision in my house when I was a kid. My cousins had one, and so did some kid who lived down the street from me.

Anyhow, I just watched a video of Tron Deadly Discs (or something like that). Wow, that game looks amazing for its time. I'm sure the licensing would be rough, but man, if I could dream of one game to be remade for the Amico.

As long as Konami hasn't locked it away over some spat with the developers and Nintendo doesn't C&D them...
