Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Nope all you saw was the handful of haters gleefully shouting to the world "see they are putting mobile games on there" (2 out of 22 games) and Amico fans responding "great, I have some more mobile games I would like to see ported and how about this board game and this retro game I played as a kid".

Here is reality: the views, likes and dislikes on the latest video and three other majors ones - notice all the like/dislike ratios are within rounding error. Handful of haters, 10x supporters:

Views          Likes      Ratio    Dislikes  Ratio            Video title

263128 5190 2% 456 0.2%   Intellivision® Amico™ - Reveal Trailer (2018)
102411 2310 2% 292 0.3%   Intellivision® Amico™ Gamescom 2019 Trailer
59822 1098 2% 132 0.2%   Intellivision® Amico™ - VIP Pre-Order Announcement Gameplay Trailer

Bingo!

I'm not worrying one bit, even though I didn't know the bean bag toss game either. ;) Obviously you don't need to know the game to play it, as I said before, but I just wanted to point out it will be perceived in Europe as quite "exotic" - even more than a baseball game. I think Tommy Tallarico mentioned wanting to create a game based on bocce, the Italian version of a very popular game in France (and probably in Southern Europe). We call it "Boules" (which means Balls 😅) or "Pétanque".

Cornhole and Balls games for a family friendly console?  What is the wold coming to?

No that's not all that I saw, I'm fully aware of the "haters" which is a way over used term these days used to discredit someone's opinion and why is everything Justin Bieber all of a sudden? everything has "haters", but no I saw comments from people who are seeing this for the first time. And read an article. Not everyone is pat and Ian and let's not pretend like everyone is. you mentioned Amico fans but yes they already have those people they need to bring more people in and keep in mind I'm not against the Amico, and actually don't like when they give fuel to the "haters" I want something to be shown that will blow us all away. They say they have something and I want to see what it is lol.

Can you give me some specifics as to where you saw folks seeing it for the first time and being negative about it.  I'm curious.  If you're referring to that NintendoLife article... well yeah... sure.  Did anyone think a hardcore Nintendo site was going to praise us?  :)

All I'm saying is that you need to realize the source of the negativity.  P&I channel, hardcore Nintendo website, etc... is all going to be negative.  In fact... I would go as far as saying that any online hardcore gaming place will not like Amico when they first hear about it.  And that's fine... we aren't marketing to them.

In regards to the word hater.  I don't think it's being overused in this context at all.  ANYONE who has negative and hateful things to say about a video game system they have NEVER played is either immature... or a hater.... I would guess that 90% of them are probably both.

I think IE is targeting these videos and the VIP pre-order to the Intellivision brand fan as almost a "thank-you" gesture.

Yeah... I would like to take this time to say the following...

Complete footage of games will be shown when our actual real marketing and advertising start in the late summer/early fall.  Some folks need to realize that we're just showing all of this stuff to give folks a peak inside (a diary if you will) of how the console is being made.  No need to pick apart everything at this point... I clearly state on every video that it's all just preliminary unfinished stuff.  I'm not being critical of anyone... I'm just informing everyone that any of the things we are showing now are just for the fans and followers who are interested at this point and our REAL marketing and advertising doesn't start til later in the year and will be MUCH different and polished and we would NEVER show an "unfinished" game in any of those things.

Hope that helps folks understand what the goal is.

Thanks.

And then a few hundred of their followers will listen to their lies and misinformation and hate us as well.

That's why a few pages ago, I posted this video.

There is some hope that people can do their own opinion.

(Here it is for those who missed it. (15 minutes long, not the entire hour.)

Sorry you are upset for my using the term haters. Tommy tried to “argue” something as simple as getting their facts right (thats pretty black and white in my book), to which they were not interested (in my opinion resolution of which would reduce friction, and what is their upside to that given their ultimate objective)?  For the record, I do not hate Pat and/or Ian (how could I, I don’t know them), and they are free to form and discuss their opinions; its when the deviate from and twist facts, have no interest in trying to resolve false things they've promoted, and ”hate” (think that is a fair word here) and badger on the system that they apparently know very little about.

Agreed.

I would like to go on record to state that I think Pat & Ian are HATERS of me and Amico at this point.

:)

WAIT! HOLD ON!! One more surprise! You didn't think we were done yet did you? Our last big reveal of the day is that Amico is going to come with SIX, yes SIX pack-in games (instead of 5)! Keep checking back with us to find out what Game 6 will be – we’ll share the exciting news in the coming months.

Enjoy this video of the 5 confirmed pack-in titles coming with EVERY Amico at launch, including our SOLD OUT Founders Edition and upcoming limited VIP Edition!

#1 - SKIING - Watch out for trees, logs, big cliff jumps, icy ground, avalanches and of course...the hidden Yeti! (He may even 👋) Up to 8 players can compete for the best times against each other on 10 different slopes OR up to 4 players can battle it out at the same time in Ski Cross mode! You’ll be tempted to bump your buddy off a cliff or into a 🌲
Who do you want to ski with first?

#2 - 🦈!🦈! SHARK! SHARK! - So much ocean to explore! Play the updated version of Shark! Shark! on Amico in single player, co-op or versus mode. Everyone in the family will enjoy this one, no matter what your age or skill level. Did you play the original growing up? If so, please share some of your memories!

#3 - ASTROSMASH - One of the first and most popular original Intellivision games! In the new Amico version you can play cooperatively WITH each other or AGAINST each other in versus mode. Which would you prefer?

#4 - 🌽 CORNHOLE - such a strange and uncomfortable name, but hey, we didn't come up with it! 😜 If you had to re-name this wildly popular and growing sport, what would you call it? Hundreds of unlockables and so many different challenges, skill levels and ways to play with family & friends (or even single player if you'd like).

#5 - FARKLE - We just love saying this word over and over again. FARKLE! FARKLE! FARKLE!! Wasn’t that fun? You'll be able to see and shake dice on your controller, then toss them up onto the screen when it's your turn! How many of you have ever played Farkle? 🎲

I grew up playing Farkle, but I knew it as Zilch back then. There are a few rule variants, like if 3 pairs on a come out roll earn points, so hoping the game will allow you to set some preferences.

One vexing thing to modern console gamers is how IE is not trying to impress them. The other is that they aren’t revealing most of their marketing until mid-summer, so the trailers intended for the Intellivision fans are getting misconstrued.

BAM!!

Exactly!  We are NOT trying to impress modern hardcore gamers.  Anyone who takes the time to go to our website will clearly see that in almost every line written.

I do think one area where IE may not be able to compete with mobile for children is some of these iPad touch screen games where kids can touch the screen object with their fingers. I know they will have the controller touch screen and motion control and what not, but it’s a lot less interactive/immersive experience, IMHO. Things like the TV boxes are even worse and less interactive and immersive than the Amico, unless you dump it on an 14” touchscreen monitor they can lay on the floor and muck around with.

I can't wait to reveal what we're doing and how we're doing it and with who!   :)

The main concerns are not hardcore vs. Casual though, those who are still stuck on that are in the wrong. but to use Pat and Ian as an example because they seem to be the the most famous people against this. They can come off as jerks but there's a few criticisms that I think they have a point  such as how looking down at a screen on a controller while trying to play a game on a TV has never been convenient or worked well. they are going after casuals I get it but that's why my biggest concern is the gameplay. I get that a bunch of YouTubers have said it was fun but forgive me I don't trust anybody especially YouTubers lol. since your phone can be a controller it would be cool if there was a way for them to make a demo where it was on a computer screen or tv where you can try it out for yourself using your phone as the controller before you buy it or for the people have already bought it can get some reassurance. I know they have the Moon patrol demo but that's in the form of a mobile game.

Thanks for raising a few points and concerns.  Here is my response.

Pat & Ian wrongly assume many many things about the controller.  One of them being is that you will always need to look down at it and you can't look at the TV screen and the controller at the same time.  Completely false and misinformed.  Did anyone see anyone having to look on the controller in the Missile Command demo?  Of course not.  It all feels extremely natural.  HOWEVER!!  There will be certain games where you will need to look at the screen at times... but typically in those situations your focus is supposed to be on the controller screen!  So it all makes sense.

In regards to your fear with gameplay.  Fair enough.  No one will be willing to make that decision for themselves until they've actually had a chance to play it for themselves.  No one should listen to someone else and make a decision about music, movies, books, art or video games.  You need to make your own decisions.  That being said... every single person we showed the system too (not only YouTubers, but many focus groups from around the world as well) have all LOVED Amico and the games.

But like I said... you need to make that decision on your own.

Thanks!

Hi Tommy. While I am waiting the "Meet Amico Missile command " video, guess what ...  I am looking older video ...   lol

I have a question about Astrosmash. No matter the answer, there will be happy people and some disappointed !

1) We saw 4 levels last week. Is it like the classic game, reaching a certain amount of points the levels are upgrading without stoping playing,

or it's now more like Moon Patrol and Night Stalker with each levels ending before beginning a new one.

2) Can I ask one more question about this game. I'll try not to have 20 like a certain Michael Garvey ... lol

I am really happy that Asteroids now have boss fights.

Can you tell us if Astrosmash will have boss fights too ! ?  🙄

1.  No... play is stopped.

2.  No bosses in Astrosmash at this time.  That may or may not change.

YET! At the 3:10 mark talks about the Amico.

He says some very interesting things about who he thinks should be excited for the system.

My favorite quote:  "The Intellivision Amico is the MUST HAVE console of 2020!!"

Y'know, it's funny... not ALL hardcore gamers dislike the machine.  In fact... when I've spoken to them or if they aren't steered a certain way by negative folks... they all actually seem to really like it.  But negativity breeds negativity.  I would challenge any hardcore elitist hater to come in and play the console with their friends and see if they hate it after that.   :)

Yer really 63 and still give a shit about this stuff? My interest wanes by the year and I'm "only" 48.

On a serious nut... perhaps in the futures, Amico should come with a little blue pill with every purchase. Can see the tag line professing long controller battery life now: Amico... stays up for as long as you do.   🤣

That would really put the HARD in Hardware eh?

:D

Epic!

And because I'm only on page 415... not sure if these have been posted yet either...

Pat & Ian continue to commit YouTube suicide as all other YouTubers have started attacking THEM for what is pretty obvious to anyone who is not a fanboy of theirs.

For the new people here, if you aren't aware and you don't want to watch the videos (I'd recommend the top one from Tipster as it has the most relevant and detailed info), it all started when they gave wrong information about Amico on one of their podcasts and I politely and respectfully corrected the bad information via Twitter.

Their fragile and immature egos took that as "criticizing" them and from that point on they trash me and machine every chance they get by continuing the lie that I attacked them and continuing to get information about Amico WRONG because (as everyone knows) they are too lazy to actually do any kind of research on the things they are talking about. Much easier to just sit around with all their stuffed animals and spout off whatever comes to their elitist and biased brains. I've asked them repeatedly to just talk with me about the system (either on or off air) or to just interview me on their show and ask me any and all the tough questions that they complain that no one else does (most folks will ask me the tough questions and I've answer them... but they always leave that out as it doesn't fit into their narrative). Of course... they refuse to talk to me. People should ask themselves why that is. I guess they don't feel they are able to match wits with me... especially considering how much they talk out of their asses and refuse to listen to anyone giving them proper information about the console. The entire thing is a rouse because they think that the more they crap on it the more money they will make on YouTube. They've already admitted it on air and those clips are referenced in some of the videos above. They talk about other people being "shills" yet they purposely trash us just so they can make an extra $10 a week on their YT channel. Pathetic.

If anyone is at all interested in seeing the unlisted video response I posted to them (and showing the timeline of their lies) you can view the very detailed video here:

One of the things I jotted down while reading through this entire topic the last 2 weeks that I thought was interesting was the discussion on an Amico magazine and/or game catalog.  I’d love to see this as well, ideally in paper but would be happy with an emailed e-series, if that was the only medium to pencil out. I know this would come a business cost, but with the IE Amico family friendly DNA, maybe there’s a niche market for advertisers.  This may be more desirable for the retro section of the Amico as it may spark memories of days gone by, but it could also create new memories for the young upcoming gamers.

Folks are gonna get a special "surprise" when they first open their Amico boxes for the first time!  Doing so many things different... even the things you would expect us never to do.   :)
