Am I the only one who saw this and thought of a detective game?

THE PITCH: Detective Fish (Barney Miller reference) receives a mysterious call one day with an ominous message - his rookie partner (an otter) was investigating some strange goings on at a reef, and was abducted! Now, Detective Fish must use all of his veteran wiles and contacts in a high-stakes thriller: to not only rescue his partner, but to piece together clues found along the way, revealing the true scope of the case the otter was looking into.

Coming soon (or not, who's to say): FISH - OUT OF OTTER!

Tommy see  puffy is the next mascot we have 2 great game ideas for the teams to make. :)

DAMN THIS GUY IS GOOD!!

Yeah... exactly.  The fact that they are bringing out more casual and co-op games should tell you something.  Maybe we're on to something eh?

But their hardware is done and it is what it is.  It only appeals to a certain demographic.  Which is fine.  But it's still complicated for most, crazy complicated e-shop, expensive for multiple players, has the MOST violent & sexual content than any other, etc.

And can we please just come out and say the obvious...  NOT everyone loves Nintendo.  Not even the majority of hardcores.

Some quick math...

200 million hardcore gamers.  Around 50 million Switches sold.

So... approximately 25% of all hardcore gamers purchase Nintendo.

Now again... I'm not crapping on Nintendo or their demographic in ANY WAY.  But to think that Nintendo can be the ONLY choice for getting families to play video game together is just plain foolish.

Should the XBOX not exist because PlayStation does?

Give me a break.

We have a certain demographic that we will appeal to.  Some will cross-over with Nintendo and a LOT won't.

No worries.  Everyone will be successful and everyone will do their own thing for their intended audience.

So great to have so many options.  Huge gaping hole that Nintendo left open after the Wii.  We intend to drive a rocketship through it.

:)

A bit Freudian there at the end 🤣 but I agree.

I gotta tell you... some of these videos are just getting stranger by the minute.  I am noticing our view counts getting higher though... so I guess that's good.

If you read the comments... the youtuber mentions Pat.  So clearly his first impression was from the PU Podcast.  Thanks for the free advertising I suppose?  :)

Now I'm not attacking this person at all.  In fact, I left him a respectful response on his video.  But I did want to highlight a few of the things he said and how off they were.

:50 - Agrees that couch co-op is non-existence but says my point about bringing people together is wrong because online gaming is everywhere.  I'm guessing he's not sure what couch co-op means?

1:54 - After reading a big chunk of the front page of our website he says that we're just like Ouya.  I actually struggle to find ways that we are like Ouya at this point.  What are the similarities?

2:11 - He says that I contradict myself in the trailer because at the beginning we state that we're catering to casuals but towards the end I say we are trying to bring back the gaming NUT.  Er... no... I say Game NIGHT... not nut.  :)  He says mom's aren't game nuts.  They don't even care who the game publisher is.  I agree.  But that isn't what I said.

2:29 - He doesn't like that we have no microtransactions and ads.  He says it's a bit of a letdown and DLC is sometimes worth it.  Yes... I agree... but what does that have to do with microtransactions and in ap ads?

2:45 - After JUST reading off all of the game types we're doing (directly from our website) and watching the 2 minute trailer (highlighting 17 games) he states that we're only going to have casual and kids games.  Says the Switch is selling great because it offers a variety of games... not just games for kids.

3:02 - Declares... "Do we really need something like Amico when we already have smart phones"

3:10 - Bad time to come out because PlayStation & XBox are coming out around the same time.

3:28 - It's not for him and therefore doesn't see the need for a system like this to exist.  I really find it interesting that some hardcore gamers can't see outside their own bubbles... but when you hear Pat & Ian say it... I guess you just believe it and mimic them.

3:35 - He does say he hopes he's wrong and the system does well.  I appreciate that he says this.  He's clearly not a hater, he's just not understanding and seeing the merits and was poisoned.  This is the exact type of person I could speak with for about an hour and completely change his view entirely.  I really need to start figuring out how to clone myself.   :)

This is exactly the type of harm that those 2 lying egotistical blowhards do when they purposely lie to their audience in order to earn $10 more a week on their YouTube channel.  Shame on them.

I apologize in advance because I don't want to sound like a hater, but I'm very disappointed with the new video.

Firstly, the person who appears on the video is a Tommy Tallarico, when we've seen other companies use a Shigeru Miyamoto for that. Shigeru Miyamoto created the Zelda and Mario games, by the way. This doesn't look good for Amico.

Then the camera focuses on the couch. Not a very expensive couch, I've seen better. And what do we see? Tommy, as Sade said in a song, I'm "By Your Side", baby, but these are not the most attractive people in the world. Now check out the trailer for Super Nintendo World and compare with the young people there. Where are the handsome 20 year olds who play the Amico? Show us. This doesn't look good.

And then we see the game. A very old game about missiles and war. Now check out the graphics and compare them to the ones in Halo, released in 2001. The Amico can't do explosions like that and can't even 3D. Are you selling the system to uneducated people with a two-dimensional mentality?

Please Don't Get Me Wrong, I will definitely buy the Amico because I like to collects objects I dislike and because this also gives me a free pass to write 40 line posts about how much they miss the mark. I just want the best for you, Tommy. XOXO.

--------

Now seriously, Missile Command looks great, Tommy. Thank you for giving these games a new life, many of us never played them as kids and now with up to 8 players they look really fun. This video really shows that the Amico is real and is coming soon. And, regardless of sales figures, it will be awesome to play.

Hahahhaa... okay... that was a good one.

:)

I agree if anything it gives the people who are against the Amico more validation like Pat and Ian when they talk about people on atariage being a bunch of yes-men. It's all right to have critical opinions it helps things get better A lot of people don't understand that, they think you're a "hater" there's that word again, just because you're not fully positive all the time it's pathetic and everybody knows in business if you're surrounded by yes-men you fail.

I'm not understanding this argument.  People like the idea behind the system and what they see so far.  MANY on this thread don't agree with everything I say... so right there... that doesn't make any of them "yes men".

I engage with negative folks as well as positive.  I don't surround myself with "yes men".  Just because things can be discussed in a respectful way with sometimes opposing views doesn't mean that folks are yes men.  It means we're mature adults expressing our views.  That's the main reason people come here.  NOT to kiss my ass.  Someone who wants "yes men" around isn't the type of person who engages with negative folks on their own turf.

I do believe there are a handfuls of Amico haters.  And that's fine.  And they should be labeled as they are.  Anyone who "hates" a video game machine without ever playing it... is a hater.  Just like anyone who declares they hate a particular song without ever hearing it is a hater.

Thankfully there are a lot more LOVERS of Amico than haters.  By a HUGE margin... and that's only going to grown and grow and we start reaching more mature adults who don't go on message boards or YouTube to crap on a video game machine they've never played.  Seriously... do you think the average person in the world is like that?  We are all just a very small subset of a subset of a subset.  When our real marketing and advertising kicks in everyone will be looking back at this petty crap and laughing their asses off.  :)

This statement confuses me because I feel like I am all those things you said don't exist.
- I have a wii and the kids use it every week to play motion control games on it (Wii Sports, Just Dance, etc).

- I consistently see Wii's listed for sale on Facebook and Craigslist in the $150 range with just a couple games included.  To me, that isn't "can't barely give it away" prices.

- I don't think of it as a gimmick.  I don't have an XBox of any incarnation but was considering getting a used 360 with Kinect purely for the motion games (and that is even more of a gimmick).

- My brother's family has an XBox 360 and One but no Wii.  When they come over, the kids all play Wii games together and his daughter was asking for a Wii for Christmas this past year (she didn't get one partly because they were worried the XBox One wouldn't get enough use anymore to justify the original purchase).

- I wouldn't consider myself as included in the "old people" category (I'm 39) and the Amico really speaks to me.  I feel like I am its market (or rather, people like me - although it would be pretty cool to have a whole system solely targeted at me alone 😄).

Perhaps I am part of a very small niche market but it certainly doesn't feel that way given the comments I've seen here, on the Facebook page, and on the YouTube comments.

You're actually not a very small niche market.  The data, research and focus testing shows you are absolutely the big majority of how folks feel and how they play.

When comparing the price of $249 with other console prices such as the switch, it’s rarely taken into consideration that you will be getting 2 controllers and 6 games with the system. This means you do not need to spend any extra money on games when you buy the console. This is an important message to get across in the marketing plan. They could have put the price lower with one controller and no games but it’s sold as a complete package which is nice and people need to know this.

Yes!  For sure.  It's going to be a HUGE part of our messaging!  First major video game console in 30 years that comes standard with 2 controllers!  First to come standard with 6 individual premium games, first game machine ever that EVERY game has couch co-op, first game machine in over 25 years that doesn't allow violence, nudity, sexual content, bad language...

etc.., etc.., etc...

All of our marketing is going to play to our strengths and what makes us super unique and stand out among the others.

True, but have you tried playing Load Runner on mobile?  That is a great game, unplayable due solely to the controller (which is a huge problem with many of the mobile games).  Do I have concerns playing Load Runner on Amico? Not a one.

Bingo.

Such a simple statement and concept that the haters have zero ability to grasp.

Why is Ian so angry? Reading some of these comments including Rayken's...

Did something happen between Ian and Tommy? This is getting pretty weird. Ian is outright screaming sometimes.

Never met the guy.  I legitimately complimented him on Twitter by saying "congratulations on your success" before correcting one of his statements and his fragile ego couldn't handle it and he said I criticized him.  Ironic eh?  The guy who literally loses his shit, gets all red in the face and starts making uncomfortable to watch finger and hand gestures says I'm the one who can't take criticism.  Reflect much?   :)

I already bought 2 FE but I will take one of each of the other colours !!! I love it !!!

On a side note, it could be argued that the switch comes with 2 controllers although not really because you can not play Zelda for example, with a single joycon.

A lot of these guys just do it cuz it gets their rocks off hating on things. "Just mobile games, this gonna fail bad", what kind of statement is that? It just sounds like a stupid drive-by and shows no insight because it ignores so much. Same with guys who say its got two mobile games, Switch has couch co-op, Switch Lite is $200. It's just reaching so far out there for something to hate on without seeing how superficial those opinions are. I know a lot of them come from Pat and Ian's of-the-cuff, un-researched, ding dong opinions.

I hope it also talks about the company and team behind the amico. My biggest concern with the launch is for the uninformed consumer to think the Amico is some cheap imported knockoff system.

Exactly!  We are NOT trying to impress modern hardcore gamers.  Anyone who takes the time to go to our website will clearly see that in almost every line written.

Total FAIL Tommy...I am a modern hardcore gamer and I am impressed by Amico...in fact the most I've been impressed with gaming in a decade!
