I have been trying to think of stuff beyond keychains, and your patches idea is absolutely, spectacularly brilliant!

Well done!👍

How about a bumper sticker?  A refrigerator magnet?  I even suggested to Tommy about a Running Man statue that lights up.

In response to people losing their minds about 2 mobile games seen in the most recent Amico trailer I spoke with Tommy directly about this. Here is what he had to say.

Reposting to this for the below reason as I just got to it. As I read through this thread I took note of pages with videos so I could come back and watch/listen them as time allowed.  Speaking of which, was the video on page 1 taken down?

Anyway, the purpose of my post - I started this video with my AirPods on while I started dishes.  This busted me up laughing, but at the same time a little “creepy”

So AC, since you seem to have a knack at predicting future events, you taking the over or under on my prediction of total sales for Amico?  Hint (not that you may need it), My predicted number is a lot...

In 83 my farther purchased an original IBM PC for just shy of $3,000 from what I remember, and that was with his employee discount. That’s in 1983 dollars.  Granted it wasn’t a base unit (the base started at around $1,500), it had a color monitor with upgraded CGA graphics card (4 color graphics!), 300 baud modem, dot matrix printer with acrylic stand, and I think 64mb memory (not sure on that), no hard drive, just two 5 1/4 single sided floppy drives. I still have it to this day.

it wasn’t until the PC clones started showing up that the prices began to drop drastically.

I paid well over $3000 for my no-name PC compatible in 1989, not adjusted for inflation.  It was an expensive hobby.

That sound so fun !!! I love it 😀.....How will the local high score board work for that game mode ? Room for 2-4 names depending how many players are playing ?

And how will the high scores work in versus mode ?

Haven't reconciled the high scores for co-op.

In versus however... your score is based on DISTANCE traveled/survived!

Tommy, what are your thoughts on Atari v Intellivision and in particular this article!

https://www.polygon.com/platform/amp/2020/4/3/21207056/atari-vcs-lawsuit-designer-rob-wyatt-launch-dates-delay

It took 40 years... but Intellivision will FINALLY beat Atari.   Atari will be known to an entirely new generation of kids as being beaten my Intellivision.   :)

Seriously though... I do hope the machine comes out.  For the backers' sake.  I still think they just market it as a Steam machine and legitimate MAME box... meaning... go out and get EVERY arcade ROM license on the planet you can (they are actually pretty cheap if you don't change anything... even the big ones).  And sell it as that.

They have zero direction and their messaging is completely all over the place... which will be the ultimate demise of the system in the future I fear.

Then we should all give more attention to the great people on here.

I think we should all mention something nice about someone on here and see if we can't get everyone one mentioned (i.e. maybe we could not duplicate any names so everyone feels included).

I'll start....

I get a nice warm feeling everytime Intellivision Master likes one of my posts.  I dont think there's a post I do that goes by without a like from Intellivision Master.

What a nice and welcoming gesture and it makes me feel valued.

🙂

Crap!  There is NO WAY I could ever single anyone out because most of you have all been amazingly supportive and really positive and caring.  It really means a lot and is really the main reason I keep coming here almost every day.

So please THANK YOURSELVES.  Without you... this thread and community doesn't exist.

I figured you guys would all laugh your asses off about this considering you get this everyday in here already!   :)

But I'd love it if some of you could stop by because I'm sure there will be a TON of questions that you guys can easily help me answer.  And depending on how big it gets... I may need all the extra help I can get!

Of course, believe it or not not everyone is HERE, any forum is a bubble and though I not a Reddit fan myself it is a huge platform. No doubt he will capture a lot of attention of people that don't live and breath retro gaming 24/7.

Yes.  That is our goal.  Raise a little awareness for free.

By the way, I teased Tommy about doing a fanny pack.  Would you be interested in that if one was made with the Amico logo on it?

I wonder if someone deleted it off their system, the collectible could be used for another system?

Hopefully, there is some way to allow for continued availability of the games in the distant or not so distant future

IE can find a solution to make the games permanently available to the masses ad infinitum and not left to the chance of  system hacking 8 years from now or the good will of the game licensors.

Wouldn't that be something™?

Yeah, AA is a frickin' paradise compared to the snake-pits of most forums, facebook pages and youtube.

Yeah!  That is the main reason why I continue to post here.  Congrats to all the mods for not letting places like AA become lousy cesspools of hate and negativity all the time.

I would still purchase one,but I know for me personally I never have the need for one.

Wallet,keys,phone-check! Out the door and ready to go.

If I am going someplace where I carry a couple more things like glasses, sun block or make a small purchase I am usually with my wife who has her purse.

But,I am quite sure that would be a useful purchase for many.

It's just not the look I am going for when I go out in public!😄

Okay, let's forget the fanny pack.  How about a Funko Pop of the Running Man?

I had a question about the controller with the keys to the games. I’m assuming that there is one main controller that holds the keys to the games ?  If the keys were on each controller I was thinking someone could leave one controller at a friends and they could play all of your games, and you could play all of your games at home at the same time. I just confused myself ! Lol 😂

I'm actually all for the fanny pack (though I think the "cooler" name for it is a lumbar pack).  It's pretty practical when out at a place like the park where you want a few more things than will fit in your pockets, but you don't want to carry a backpack.  Everytime I'm at Busch Gardens I wish I had one.

I could also see window decals, like the kind that come in every Apple product you buy.

OEB Pete would order 12...

Of course he'd open them all on camera and give some away...keep one...then ....trade-bait

I actually did think of that one which would be amazing,I just wasnt sure if that could actually happen.

I would buy multiples of those for sure,a couple different colors would be great

Purple,blue,green,silver....

There are so few video game pops! out. I have a green Space invaders one that is cool.

Running man Funko Pop! absolutely,yes!!!👍😃

So the guy's name is Joe, but Tommy calls him Tony the entire time.  And Joe just couldn't bring himself to correct him.  Too funny.

I felt so bad afterwards when I found out!!  He TOTALLY looks like a Tony to me!  Tony & Joe are I think the 2 most used names in the Italian-American culture!  Throw in "Vinnie" and ya got the Trifecta!!   :)

In order to make up for it... in the live interview tonight with "Tony".. I'm going to call him JOE!

:D

I do want to correct Tommy on something he said.  Early on, he made a comment about how game makers pale in comparison to those who served in the military.  I just want to say that video games are a big part of life for people in the military, and especially when deployed overseas.

I deployed twice with the Navy, once on a ship and once to Iraq. Video games were a huge way for us to entertain ourselves and keep ourselves sane. On the ship, we would play games constantly.  We'd have FIFA tournaments on the mess decks. Something like the Amico would have been a god-send if we could have had up to 8 people playing at the same time. When I was in Iraq a few years ago, gaming was also huge. The USO and MWR had gaming rooms set up so that we could go in and play games in our free time.  I used to go play FIFA all the time with a guy I worked with from Turkey.  The problem is, the games were PS4/XB1, and they were complicated. Just setting them up and getting a game going required logging in with certain accounts, getting online connected, and all of this other stuff that prevented us from just playing.

Now Amico is coming out, and all I can think is how amazing something like this would have been. People of all skill sets, from all different countries, could come together and just have fun.  Because at the end of the day, that's all we were looking for. We wanted to hang out in a relaxed environment and just forget the fact that we were away from home and our families for almost a year. Amico, not requiring an internet connection, having up to 8 players, and being accessible to people of all skill levels, is like a dream come true. If you haven't contacted the USO or MWR yet, then you might want to.  Amicos in USO facilities around the world would be simply amazing. It'd make a lot of sailors, soldiers, marines, and airmen really happy.

Wow!  Thank you for your story and more importantly... your service to the U...S... of... A!!!!!

If I start getting pics of soldiers around the world playing Amico together in submarines, barracks, etc... I will NOT be able to contain the amount of chills, goosebumps and outright CRYING I will happily endure.

Wow... just the thought of that gives me chills.

You said it Shipmate. When did you serve? I was in from 92 to 02. Managed to make it around the world twice in those 10 years.

@Tommy I second his motion to talk with MWR and/or USO.

@RxScram was in the Navy as well!  My dad too!!
