I might be missing something, but I see it as a flaw on GameStop’s part (or any store) that allows reviews of unreleased products in the first place.

Yeah... they just turned it off for Amico.

I agree . Also no one should be able to review a product they have not purchased themselves.

Including kids who's Daddies bought the products.

They must verify lawn mowing money used.

(btw, why is this image cutting off the text?)

You added the image to the paragraph as an inline element, instead of putting it in a separate paragraph.  (I fixed it.)

I was thinking about Trip Hawkins. He has had many accomplishments in the gaming world (let’s not talk about the 3DO) but he is too old to fit the criteria and I don’t think he retired 10 years ago ! I’m not even sure if he is retired now or not.

Hey.. Don't be messing with my 3DO.. LOLs..

Whats funny is the pro vcs guys will put 5 stars on the vcs on gamestop giving it rave reviews.  I put a comment on there. Im so many words " how can you write a review on a product that hasn't come out? So I'm not surprised with the reviews on the Amico.  Also I've been noticing in YouTube alot of pro vcs guys hating on Amico.  I think the 2600 preorder floored them. What a bunch of losers

What’s funny is I like the design of the new VCS, just sell me the shell and I’ll be happy. Also like the newly designed old school controller. But man, those bumbling Atari folks can’t even spell their name of their IP correctly..so they have 0 cred in my book and those blind followers are out of touch with reality.

Dangit!!!! I went there to have them tell us if the 7th game was, indeed, packed in. And what it was. Also to tell us what the storage configuration was. (32GB on board/SD slot free or 16Gig on board/SD slot used). I think all of this information would have helped Tommy's decision on what to do and give him less sleepless nights. See, we are looking out for you Tommy!!! We're in this together!

Lol I mentioned that in the past and someone was going to get me the vcs file to print it. Thats all I want. I love the look and the controller too. But their focus is all over the place.  Reminds me of the xbox 1 when they were about to release it. No clear direction at to what the thing is built to do.

It is also clear they are doing the absolute minimum at each step. Notice Intellivision had games in development WAY before hardware was complete. They roughly knew their target hardware stack and started immediately, even building a Unity addin for the unique controllers. It is clear Atari didn't even start on their menu interface until recently even though it has been clear for years now they are doing a Ryzen 3 APU x86 architecture on Linux. Quite frankly I am Linux programming hack and I could have done that slide show interface in an afternoon. Nearly all the basic elements of the VCS are a known quantity so you can start development with zero or only minor tweaks for the final hardware. In fact I could spin up an "Atari VCS development environment" in a few minutes in a VM - it is basically just called "Linux". Just really disappointing from a geek/developer standpoint that all of that needed development time has been wasted.

Keep up the guesses people! @Tommy Tallarico forbade me from giving any hints out, but there have been some great comments made so far!

Just how "great" have some of the comments been?  Warm? Hot? Ice cold?

Sadly the only one I might be interested in is the 1930 illustration style "Call of the Sea", the game which *least* needs to be run on a state of the art machine. In the other games you can tell the graphics have taken a step up but that is like trying to judge a cake by how fancy the icing looks. May look great but sometimes the cake is basically saw dust & powered sugar and costs $60 for a taste.

You know... Take those lush visuals, put them in a 2D side scrolling adventure & call it Tropical Trouble. I'd buy that!

Just finished watching the XBOX Series X trailers.

Some absolutely BEAUTIFUL games!

... and personally wouldn't be interested in playing a single one of them.

Although I've always felt that there should be more dripping alien penises in gaming.... so they didn't disappoint there.

Dripping Alien Penises is my new band name.

Sorry, too much of a hint.

@RxScram  Quick question for you.  People earlier were asking about having the ability to use headphones with the controller, and that idea was nixed for a number of reasons. ROKU has a feature where you can stream the audio from your TV through your phone using their app.  It got me wondering, since Amico will have a phone app that connects wirelessly to the console, would something like that be possible? It wouldn't require extra hardware, and there's already a connection with the phone.  Could that be a possibility somewhere down the road?

Hopefully, that game can be reimagined into an Amico game. Love that game and can’t wait for the new version. Return to Dark Tower.

Tommy,

Restoration Games is the publisher of Return to Dark Tower. They also have a few other games that I have\played that could work as Amico games. Stop Thief! which is basically electronic cops and robbers and Fireball Island which is a reimaging of an older board game of the same name.

Almost bought the Restoration Games version of Fireball Island, a favorite of my wife’s from childhood.  They sold out and the aftermarket had them at a couple hundred.. so many disasters could be incorporated and controls given for vs mode, the theme isn’t saturated but has appeal, in lieu of Pitfall!, a good jungle/island adventure game could be a fun time
