Yeah, one of my friends and I were talking about this, and he said it's probably Dreamcast Mini. I said that I expect that more than anything else, too. We'll see. Famitsu scans should be available in a few hours. If nothing else, we'll get the update on this Game Gear Micro in just over 3 hours.

Please keep us posted from Japan!!

Thanks!

Best news this week. Sega isn't being sold to Microsoft.  Hope that never happens. Never thought a dreamcast 2 was happening.  Sega never made a 2 of anything lol. Mini gamegear ooh yes must have

I still play my NOMAD!  Would have LOVED to have seen that with all the Genesis mini games pre-loaded!

Retro Bit was supposed to release a Sega Nomad clone last year.  Sadly it never happened.

Don't worry, I will. If there's one person in this thread that you can count on for Sega, it's probably me.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YOU HAVE A NOMAD!!!

It really is the best system ever made. I love handhelds and the Genesis/Mega Drive is my favourite system ever, so naturally...

I do need to send it to Mobius Strip Tech to upgrade the thing, but the total cost of the upgrades that I want comes out to like $450, including shipping. Also have to buy the parts that you want him to put in it, which comes out to another $120 or so, but I already have those in my desk. It's kind of hard to justify spending $600 total to upgrade the thing, though.

Can you imagine the battery life on the Game Gear Micro?  Probably 5 minutes then it dies.  Lol.

With modern battery tech, it's probably not so bad. It looks to be about 60%~70% the size of the PSP go, which has a decent battery.

And I really hate to triple post, but what the hell. Tommy, for the Genesis Mini games on the Nomad... let's just say that I do have the Darius port from that on my Nomad and a lot more thanks to the MegaSD from Terraonion. Even runs CD games, but without the triple bypass mod, you will not get any CD audio at all, just stuff generated by the YM3438, so most CD games are very quiet. Shin Megami Tensei's music is mostly from the sound chip for some reason, though, so that game is mostly fine that I remember, but I don't like how the game sounds and much prefer the original SFC version's music over the other versions. Have not heard the PC Engine version's music, though.

I have to agree with some of you guys. I too would be disappointed if a micro Game Gear is Sega's big announcement.

I mean, a lot of us who grew up with the thing are getting older and starting to need reading glasses. With that small of a screen, I would need an electron microscope.

We don't expect the majority of folks in his age group to be asking for or buying Amico.  So it's not surprising that he makes fun of it the entire time.

We speak to a lot of kids his age and it's not really our initial target market.  So I understand where his opinion is coming from. And it's fine.  He didn't get a lot of the details correct, but again... he's just a kid making a video so it would be hard to complain or hold him to any kind of journalistic standard.  Although saying I'm lying about having one of the former presidents of Nintendo was probably going a little too far... but it's fine.  He doesn't know what he doesn't know.  It's okay.  More acceptable for a teenager to do it.  Not so much for people who purport to be "experts" and try to make a living off it in their 40's.

It's interesting to to see the same handful of hate-filled fake account banned dingbats swarming around the poor kid in hopes to egg him on.

LUKAS!!  STAY AWAY FROM THE WINDOWLESS WHITE VAN!  THEY DON'T REALLY HAVE CANDY AND FORTNITE!!

:D

Those folks continue to read every post in here and scour the internet every day to leave disparaging remarks.  People that clearly have nothing better to do with their lives.  Sad if you really think about it.  Starting to actually feel sorry for these folks at this point.

I just played the Lawn Darts and Bean Bag Toss from the Wii Toss Pro lineup from WiiWare. They are pretty fun games, but the controls are a little wonky, as they are with many Wii 3rd party games, as you have to twist the Wiimote left or right to aim, rather than have it follow the Wiimote’s path through space during a throw. Also, you have to keep the twist angle throughout your throw, which makes the experience a little wooden.

Here are some translations and stuff from me. I'm sure nobody here will probably want this.

1.15” screen ????? To get 16 games you have to buy 4 of them ??  Is this the BIG announcement ?

Not sure if this has been asked Tommy, but are you going to include the original versions of games? I don't think you should overlook this, even if emulated. When I originally saw the new controllers I pictured digital touch overlays for the old games! Nintendo DS did this brilliantly. A lot of the new remakes seem to have bombastic dance music and stuff these days and some look a little too...busy for my taste (Night Stalker)

It would be nice to have the classic versions included as well.

EDIT
Just did some time searching and found my answer, can't wait!

Have Lock N Chase and Locomotion been considered? Thanks!

This thing looks like a bad April Fools' joke. It's laughably small.  It's so tiny that you could put it in your pocket and lose it.  I mean, what were they thinking?  And worse of all is that anyone who has nostalgia for Game Gear is now too old to even see what's on a 1" screen.  Maybe they're trying to go after the kids' market, because only a 4 yo could hold this thing comfortably.

Surely I can't be the only one who checks every day to see if they've un-cancelled Tron 3 ...

OK Tommy - Your Order of importance is:

1)Get Amico out.

2)Resurrect the Vectrex.

3)Get Tron 3 made.

I'm sure you can get that done within 2-3 years :) No Pressure!

Ah!  Yeah... that would be the way to go!   :)

The only bummer on the road was the battery life.  But I do have the battery pack add on which boosted it for another 3 - 4 hours.

To redo it, all they would need to do is bigger screen, better speakers (and stereo!), thinner overall and better battery life.

It looks like Sega's big announcement will be a new platform for the arcades called Fog Gaming.

Yeah, there was no way a new console would have been announced in a Japan only magazine.  They didn't even do that in the 80's & 90's!  It was always a big worldwide press conference.

I did however think it was going to be a "bigger" announcement than that.  So maybe there is still something coming?

Hopefully it's that Sega teamed up with Intellivision.  Then we can get Sega games on Amico.  Wouldn't that be something?

Not exciting at all for me 😕

Yeah this is probably an attempt to save the declining Japanese arcade market (which is still a thing in Japan) by making a lower cost/more flexible version of the stand alone arcade machine. A “fog” network is like a cloud (think Stadia) but the computing power is closer to the user (maybe shifting the internal boards of the arcade machines to a local in building rack or something). If this is the big announcement it is very niche and only important to Japan’s arcade industry.
