Wii Sports, I'm guessing.

Since we're talking about attach rates, here are some numbers on those. Not sure how accurate this is, but here it is.

Interesting to see the Master System kicking everything's asses aside from the mini consoles. I'm guessing that Brazil is the main reason for this.

I remember WII also being uber successful as it has the most affordable system to play guitar hero.

Lol have you ever worked in customer service? People got nuts if something is a dollar more than they thought it would be. $50 isn't nothing, have you ever lost a 50 dollar bill? I bet you'd be upset. You think of all the things you could have done with that 50 bucks. I do that when I lose a 20 🤣

No doubt and the further you get away from a metro area, the more valuable that $50 seems to become; but then again, there’s also less to do there so Amico may be more appealing to folks in those areas as well.

Amico does not cost $0 to make, let alone to have designed.  IE is not a charity. Amico is fairly priced.

Of course the last put is only my opinion and it’s up to each consumer to make their own personal purchasing choice.

I’d like a Rolex but I find them to be over priced, so I buy quality watches from other manufacturers for 10% of the cost. It’s my personal decision; however, I think that in the above example, Amico is the “other manufacturer”, albeit not at a 90% savings.

If you like it and feel the price is appropriate, buy it; if not, don’t - just like every other thing you buy (or don’t).

Why dwell on something you have zero control over? Make your decision, move on and quit complaining.

Of course the above is just my opinion 😄

Tommy,

Any update on when we can use our tickets?  You said it would be this month.

That's what I was told by my folks... let me check again.

In regards to the RFID Golden Tickets from merchandise...

They said the online back-end system has been built, tested and ready to go (pic below) but they are just waiting to hear back from our outside legal counsel in regards to what we need to put on there from a legal standpoint.  There are lots of laws and restrictions when doing a give-a-way like this.

I'll keep everyone posted when I get more info.

A disc-less next gen Xbox system of some kind is bound to happen, especially considering that they already have the Xbox One S AD edition and Sony is releasing a PS5 AD edition too.  However, I believe that a $199 next gen Xbox console could potentially sell quite well.  Granted, it won't appeal to casual and non-gamers at the beginning.  Still, if they can tap into their extensive back catalog with the previous generation consoles and start cultivating titles that focus beyond regular and/or hard-core gamers, then perhaps they can have substantially growth.  But, that is a lot of 'what-ifs' and we will just have to wait and see what exactly they do.

Judging by the negative consumer response to the disc-less XBox One S system I don't think it will stick. Ever notice how no one wanted digital media for PC games after steam? PC games initially started with CD media due to the size limitation of diskette plus the streaming of CD audio. After PC harddrives became a lot bigger games were able to offload all the content to the harddrive which decreased load times and rendered the disc not necessary to be present. The games still required the disc in the drive to check entitlement and prevent piracy. As soon as Steam gave us digital purchases with one account and unlimited re-installs we would never want to go back to a disc. It became nice and clean.

The video game consoles is the opposite. Video game discs seem to be treated the same are carts where players have more of a sense of ownership and collecting nature. If all consoles were digital only then GameStop wouldn't exist, swapping games with friends is out, and returns are gone.  I started to go all digital until I bought Resident Evil 7 and I hated it. I lost $60. That brought me right back to physical games for purchase security and I actually got more excited with building my collection (with the slight inconvenience of getting up and changing the disc).

Tldr: Console gaming majority prefers physical media - PC gaming prefer digital.

I keep laughing when people act like $250 is too much.  And that $200 is going to be  better for this. Well  hell I think anything is better when its more affordable.  But how is will a console at $200 vs $250 going to really make or break it ? Its $50 bucks people.  When the majority of people spend that at a restaurant or shoes. Ohhhh I dont know $50 is going be a deal breaker

why would you laugh? Price points are very real. People make a lot of money making sure products hits the right price point, it can make or break ANY product. Ask yourself why we dont say 200 or 250, its 199  or 249.  Thats for a very real reason, its called price points and they matter A LOT.

Yes, price points matter. The reason behind all the 9's in pricing is purely psychological manipulation of the customer base.

However, pricing is still relative to market. So, in the video game market, the difference between $199 and $249/250 is negligible, when the market barely flinches at prices in the $400's and $500's. And again, that's before games, for the most part. A person buying the Amico at $250 will know they can still get a substantial catalog at a price point where if they were buying another system, they'd get just that: A box. And one controller.

Exactly, this is my rough VENN diagram of how I see the various platforms competing. Basically they really don't within a few small percentages of overlap. How many true hard core gamers are going to choose a Switch over an XBox/PSx? Nearly none. How many true casual gamers are going to choose a Switch? Nintendo fans would say 'all or lots' but they don't realize games like Super Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, Super Smash Bros are *NOT* casual games - they are light, hard core games. The Pokemon S&S franchise probably comes closest to a true casual game that is a real system seller for the Switch because of it's limited 3d camera usage (only in the wild areas).

Of course gamers are not monolithic in the types of games they like and lots of people may own a Sony & a Switch or a Switch & an Amico or all three (or four). However the *core* audiences of these systems really don't overlap that much at all.

This is a fair assessment and awesome chart.

Your right its like when you go to the store and you compare the switch and its $50 more and then you have to add another $60 to $70 just to play it

And the console next to you is only $250 and you dont have to spend any more money.  Yep you are correct that $50 is a big deal🤔

True but that also goes for when you are standing at to rack and you see 249.99 and games are included.  And next to it is 299.99 switch no games included.  That $50 saved buying the Amico goes a long ways

In the end, for me anyway, I'm going for the console that has an Amico controller and one that I can play Night Stalker on. If MS or Sony can't give me that, then I'm in no rush to buy anything.

New systems look amazing to me (especially Xbox), but I'm gonna wait them out till next year. I'm getting the Amico this year to play games with anyone in the room. Im most excited about Night Stalker, Bump N jump, BurgerTime for nostalgia, cornhole and good old WII type games, and games of that board game genre that involve controller screen secrets.

Just a thought...

Plus I think that Tommy guy is playing his cards close to his chest and what he's sharing is really the tip of the iceberg. 😁 We get the vibes this is a passion project more so that just something to produce and sell.

I forgot about Guitar Hero! I've never played it, which is probably why. They really killed music games for a while when they released too many of those. I thought one of the newer versions of Rocksmith was doing relatively well on Amazon recently, but I just checked and it seems that it's not doing as well as I thought it was. I never really got that game to work because of input lag/sound lag, unfortunately.

I can't help but think about this when I hear that rumor about "physical" Amico games. (Namely, the one about RFID figures that simply a game download from online)

The rumor reminds me of retail PC games, where like you said, the game disc installs to your hard drive...or nowadays, it typically doesn't even hold any data!

I’m a little disappointed about the Golden tickets. I ordered a hoodie back in March, never received the Golden Ticket 🙁. Lost in the Mail? Order missed due to third party handling the merch orders and COVID mayhem?  Don’t know, it would have been fun to participate in whatever they will be used for.

Don’t feel bad, I ordered shirt in Nov of 2019 when shirts and golden tickets were launched and since have misplaced my golden ticket. Kept it in my wallet for months and then took out when it was showing some signs of wear, now can’t remember where I put it 🤣

I agree, but I don't like to compare with other products. Fact is switch has a lot more power. The Amico is supposed to be the value console for casual gamers. 50$ rise in price which is an increase of 25% is quite a bit. If I was buying a car and the price went up by just $50 it wouldn't effect my decision, but if the car went up 25% in price I most likely wouldn't buy it.

Hey @Juice, you created an Atari Age account in January and only have posted in this thread. These are some of your ideas:

- It seems a little silly to play for a game that's something like Poker (link)

- You didn't think there would be 2600 people waiting to get the Founders Edition (link)

- The gameplay trailer has done more harm than good (link)

- You asked if the gamepad was just a touch screen and said that Playstation controllers have one and people don't like it (link)

- You called everyone in this topic a yes-men and said everyone knows CEOs fail when they get surrounded by them (link)

- You said that the day Tommy released several trailers, including the Farkle demo, was not a very good day for the Amico (link)

- You called Lukas's initial uniformed and extremely negative video "interesting insights" (link)

- You asked everyone here to get real and accept that the hype for the Amico has come down (link)

So my question is, what the fork are you looking for here? You seem quite a bit obsessed with something you don't appear to like too much, to say it softly.

Oh, I get it... You must be "on the fence".

Amazing game! My cousin had it back in the day and we spent hours playing that.

I found a second hand 15 years ago but my controller seems to have a defective electric contact or something so it makes it unplayable (the game resets).

That would be an awesome game for the Amico: relying on sound clues to try to find where the thief is and make an arrest. A great multiplayer Coop family game, heck one could even play the thief - sort if like in the Scotland Yard board game! I would gladly spend 9.99$ for it!

Good one bud'!

Actually it is. When you and others jump on here you miss the mark. You never add games or cost of controllers.  You just add the initial cost of the console.

Many parents like things simple.

Simple comparison.

My switch with 2 games and 1 added controller came to over $500. So this discussion of $50 is hilarious.  Because you and I know you cant just buy a switch for $50 more and start playing.  The consumer will compare those added costs before asking the clerk to pull it off the shelf.

In the past I bought all of my consoles at fred Myers because they would have deals like buy a console and get 1 game free. Or a free added controller.  And that was why I never bought  anywhere else.  So why do you ise the $50 as a point but always leave out those other things that typically adds another $200?
