So... how come the Atari VCS isn't sold at retail and we are?

Which retailers are selling these?

Correct.  Not all games will be getting a physical release.  Only the super cool and special ones where we can do something extra and it makes sense.

I really wish all games would get a physical box release. I’m a completist and would love the opportunity to have a box of every Amico game. Maybe the lesser known/least popular games could have a physical release that can only be bought direct from the Intellivision store’s website.

Just purchase every boxed game that is released for the Amico and then you still have that complete collection. That's great because it's the best you can accomplish.

That's how I look at it and that's what I am going to do.

The games that are digital are something different and not part of that collection,in my eyes anyway.👍

That’s what I plan on doing. The other reason why I wish there was a physical box copy of every game is because there MIGHT be a perception that if there isn’t a physical box copy of the game, then the game must not be that great. It may divide the game catalog into two classes of games:  awesome and not-so-awesome.

I think everyone was hoping this would all be over by now... but there are reports of it getting worse in a lot of places.

well no not really. those of us who understand what's really going on recognize that this is only just the beginning, and that it's going to get much, much worse from here on out. Because i guarantee that not a single one of you personally knows anyone that has this thing. the only people who seem to get infected are actors and politicians on television. i wonder why that could be?

Perhaps Intellivision may partner with Limited Run in the future...? *fingers crossed*

Of course I personally know people that had this covid. One had only minor symptoms (no sense of smell and taste for example) the other person died on covid. Both where testet positive.

But we here in Austria (Europe) are now over the worst, which seems not to be the case in the US.

Exactly what I was thinking. There's certainly gonna be certain games that do deserve their own physical edition, but wouldn't do so well in retail.

Another place IE might want to consider is https://videogamesplus.ca/, a Canadian online retailer that has sold exclusive titles in the past.

What a moronic thing to say.  I personally know of 5 people who had COVID, various ages and it hit them all with different results.  The oldest one died of it.

You must be living on Iceland or some other isolated place, because in most of the rest of the world this has affected quiet many people, and killed almost half a million people already.

Sorry to bring this up, but I was just curious how it might have originated that trolls are saying that not all Amico games will be couch co-op. As far as I know, they all are. I’m assuming this comes from the same place as “EWJ4 is all mini-games” that started with some gloomy guy in the bacon thread saying it sound like it might have a mini-games(s).

Normally I ignore your posts but I won’t allow BS conspiracy theories to endanger others. My answer - no close personal family members so far but at least two family members of my various daughters significant others have had the disease and one of them has died.

it isn’t a joke or made up and ignorant actions and statements are not harmless and are actually contributing to deaths.

My next door neighbors sister and entire family had covid.

My forklift driver at works Dad has it.

Does that help you understand the virus exists and is not a hoax?

It sure is real enough for me!

You are giving them way too

much credit that it might be based on something.

Remember these are the same high quality individuals that said stuff like Tommy was *personally* designing the electronics, there is no way the controller disc could support itself and would fall in the hole, implied Intellivision was controlled by the German government because they got some grant money for a few games - just to name a few. They literally just make sh*t up and try to pass it off as valid information. In the military it is called “disinformation” - I calling “intentional lying”.

It's more of a numbers game.  Meaning... if we have 30 titles on launch we just don't have the immediate capacity or will be given the shelf space to do them all.  Too risky a proposition for a company just hitting the retail market.  Best to take the "victories" and the ones we feel will make for a very nice special package.  Gotta pick our battles and spend manufacturing money as smart as possible.  Best to walk before we run and see what the market prefers.

If everything goes as planned.. we can always revisit titles that were only offered digitally.  Better for us out of the gate to read the market as opposed to guessing.  We may find that only a certain demographic will want a physical version.  We won't exact know how that will play out until we're on the market.  Hard to distinguish these types of buying decisions through focus group testing.

Tommy mentioned in this thread, he might even have replied to me if I recall saying all games are not co-op some will just have a versus mode. And he doesn't like the term couch co-op.

Thanks. I remember that now. Yeah, I kind of get couch co-op and simultaneous multiplayer equivocalized in my mind, so it didn’t click. So, as of now, they are all simultaneous multiplayer? Honestly, I don’t really care if they all are or not, but just trying to keep abreast of things.

Not sure but this is what Tommy said

"Some games may only have VERSUS as opposed to Co-Op... but all will be able to be played in a room together.

Skiing is an example that comes to mind.  There is no "co-op" mode really.  Just a couple of different ways to play VERSUS against each other.

Couch Co-op is a general term to mean people playing in a room together.  But the term should really be Couch Multiplayer.  Some call it "Local Multiplayer" but I'm not a fan of that term because it confuses non-gamers.

I personally don't like the term Couch Co-op either... but it's the one everyone knows and uses.  But yes... there is a difference between something that is "Co-operative" as opposed to challenging against each other in a Versus mode.

Every game will have at least one of those"

For me as a Nintendo fan (I have mad respect for them, I think they have created/been a part of more enduring iconic gaming franchises than any other company) I am glad. I haven't heard much about Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, but there was a significant backlash against Mario Kart Tour placing people on the typical mobile micro transaction, pay to win train. For me that cheapens a company's image and I think they need to either just price the games higher & stay out of the muck or just stay out of the mobile business generally.

Not to venture off track and go negative, but because you asked...  It was probably from a comment I made in here last week explaining the difference between co-operative mode and versus mode.  Because they know so little about the game industry and its terminology, when I said that some of our games have co-operative modes and some will have versus... they took that to mean that all of our games aren't going to have couch co-op modes and that I'm lying to everyone.

Keep in mind, this is the same group of obsessed folks who try to pass off "concern" for the meer fact that they hate me so much and I get under their skin each and every day.  I've become a hobby... a daily side project.  They've ventured far into the area of cyberstalking about a month ago.  Lucky for us we live in California where they take this kind of thing very seriously.  Hating me or the product or giving your opinion about said hatred or "concern" is one thing... sending a mean tweet or replying harshly to folks who like Amico is also part of life and folks are more than welcome to hate it.  It's not for everyone.  Making numerous videos on your YouTube channel describing what you don't like about the system is 100% completely and totally acceptable (Pat & Ian for example).  But sadly, what this "group" are doing (and the daily... almost hourly level they are doing it) is something else entirely.

Cyberstalking:

Cyberstalking is the use of the Internet or other electronic means to stalk or harass an individual, group, or organization. It may include false accusations, defamation, slander and libel.  It may also include monitoring, identity theft, threats, vandalism, solicitation for sex, or gathering information that may be used to threaten, embarrass or harass.

Cyberstalking is often accompanied by realtime or offline stalking.  In many jurisdictions, such as California, both are criminal offenses. Both are motivated by a desire to control, intimidate or influence a victim. A stalker may be an online stranger or a person whom the target knows. They may be anonymous and solicit involvement of other people online who do not even know the target.

Cyberstalking is a criminal offense under various state anti-stalking, slander and harassment laws. A conviction can result in a restraining order, probation, or criminal penalties against the assailant, including jail.

Was a little shocked to find out what this "group" has been doing and to the level they do it on a daily and sometimes hourly basis.  I've always dealt with online haters... its a badge of honor, success and proof that you're doing something interesting enough for people to have an opinion about it.  But one of the people in their "group" decided enough was enough, felt uncomfortable with what they were talking about and sent us an email spilling the beans and informing us on what they are doing, what they are trying to accomplish and how they go about doing it.  Crazy to think that a video game console that people have never played can send folks off the deep end like this.  But clearly the online world has become a strange place for people like this to feel powerful in their own way.  Thankfully there are laws in place and organizations that handle stuff like this.  I'll leave it at that.
