Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Recommended Posts

Can anyone advise me if the Amico Club app is on the huawei mobile services app store on the HUAWEI AppGallery and if not will it be likely to be put on in the future, as I am thinking of buying a Huawei phone and the phone does not use the google app store (I am new to using mobile smart phones so I do not fully know the pros and cons)  It is android operating system.   I have also just found information you can download the amazon app store on the phone as an alternative way of getting some common apps.

More than likely not at this time. Huawei is either banned, or in the process of being banned, from importing hardware into the U.S. Because of that, it does not make sense for Intellivision to apply limited resources to supporting an app store with limited reach. From a quick check of news articles, it looks like the U.K. government is thinking about banning Huawei as well, so you might reconsider getting that brand of phone.

You can get the APK file without any store app and sideload the app.

Just to add on to what @mr_me said - here is a list of trusted APK download sites: https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/safe-android-apk-downloads/

and Amico Club is available: https://m.apkpure.com/amico-club/com.Intellivision.Amico.ARTShirt1

I would take @RxScram advice but if you do get a Huawei phone (they do make nice phones) I would get used to side loading apps. Unless an app has a heavy Asian/Euro presence they won’t bother putting it in the store so you will find a lot of missing apps.

Here is a recent article on what is on and not on the Huawei store. There are a lot of major apps missing (Uber, BBC News, Google Maps, Facebooks, etc): https://www.pocket-lint.com/apps/news/huawei/151580-what-apps-can-you-actually-get-on-huawei-s-app-gallery

Since this is now officially the Android Phone Chat thread ;) - just one more suggestion. Look into if your particular Huawei can actually get the Google store loaded on it (basically you side load the Google Play Store and some other apps). Sometimes it is very device and even firmware version specific so find out all of those details and then Google that plus "Google Play Store". If so that solves pretty much all your app store problems. I have no experience with Huawei's directly but this is Step #1 for Amazon tablets I purchase (they also have a weak app store).

If you don't need the latest and greatest (and most expensive) cell phone, I would recommend checking out www.swappa.com . They sell used phones, tablets, etc. I have purchased my last 4 phones and last two tablets from there and I rate them an A+. I have 3 friends who have done the same with similar results. We have all bought devices rated as "Good" condition and all of them have been almost like new. Make sure you purchase from a vendor who has had listings in the thousands and have a 5 star rating.

That was a fun one!  I loved all the guesses.

But for this one folks should be thinking more literally.  All will be revealed by this time next week I believe.

Yes its a really great game and it plays a with this typical R-Type feeling :). I have the Switch version and it plays fantastic in Handheld Mode also. I played R-Type 1-3 so many times complete till the end and still love these games. Rigid Force Redux a very good game without copying the gameplay from R-Type. Great that you can move the Drone around the ship. Thats something completly new in this genre.

We're meeting with them today!

Hi all, brand new to this forum. In my constant quest for more intellivision Amico news a very knowledgeable Italian directed me here to learn more. He actually has alot of knowledge about the Amico that regular people wouldn't have but he won't reveal secrets to me. :(

A bit about myself , I'm a very casual gamer. I owned an intellivision II back in the early 80s and loved the crap out of it. Since then I've "gamed" very sparingly over the years although I do own an Xbox One currently (my kids play it waaaaaaay more than I do)

I'm so looking forward to the Amico because of everything Tommy has been saying about it. Family friendly, games for all skills levels, couch co-op and bringing people together.

My actual name is Michael but I go by Zee on forums due to my last name and an old high school teacher that gave me the nickname "Mr. Zee". I'm from Canada and it should be Zed but let's be real here, Zee sounds better :)

Looking forward to the launch!

Yo Zee!,

Thanks so much for stopping by!  You'll find the folks here to be passionate, funny, entertaining and excited about Amico and typically EVERYTHING Intellivision.

Looking forward to interacting more and hope to see ya around here more often.  Loving your comments on YouTube & Twitter.    :)

I'd like a live heart-rate monitor hooked up to Pete so I can know exactly when the news is released.  I'll get notified as soon as his rate jumps 20%

Good to see more people questioning all the hate around the Amico from certain youtubers.  People love to take a side and then let it get personal for whatever reason.  This is video games we're talking about not politics.  At the end of the day you just want to have some fun surrounded by people you like.  That's what I believe the Amico can provide. I like the fact this guy just throws his opinion out there, it's as valid as anyone else's and shows there's probably more of a market for Amico then others will want to admit.
