I meant 6pm Eastern.  I was thinking 9am Pacific and 12pm Eastern.  I had to go back and change my post.

9 am Pacific already happened. So, the drawing already took place?

Bit confused by now.

Never mind.

I got tired of their BS a while back so I don't look at any of their videos.  Since Tommy posted them here, I read the question.

... Tough questions?  It's easy to come up with tough questions, but these aren't it. The majority of these have a purpose and it's not to get more info to the masses, it's to try and embarrass Tommy, to try and catch him in a lie, etc.   There is nothing that is conceived from journalistic integrity with these questions.

Tommy:  Free advice - Don't waste any more of your time on this type of BS.  We all know you can hold your own, that was clear 30 years ago and it's even clearer now with what you've done thus far.  But whether you agree or not, this type of negative energy can sap away at you and if anything, can take your attention away from more important things like family and getting this console out the friggin door eheh

A message to the negative nannies of the world: if you want to see if a company is legit, if there is a real vision in place and if it has a chance at success, you can always tell via one thing:  look to see who's on board, look to see who the head of the company surrounds him/herself with.  Look to see if what they are doing is out in the open.  USE FRIGGING GOOGLE to try and find the answers to your "tough questions", might shock yourselves by finding the tough answers are right in front of you.

What disappoints me is when people spew venom and whatever they pass off as journalistic intent, they aren't just flinging the crap at their target but at the entire project and everyone associated with it.  If there is a cookie trail of info that shows there should be doubt, its fair game to push for answers but not this way.  I mean, it's obvious what pops their tart. Talk about digging themselves in a hole...

There's nothing wrong with wondering if Amico will succeed.  There's nothing wrong with questioning facets of the business model (ie: game funding, target audience, etc).  There's nothing wrong with having doubts. The approach they've taken has nothing to do with these, for them, it's obviously personal, and when it's personal, it has nothing to do with facts or Q/A's.  How hard is it to ask questions with integrity and respect?  Apparently plenty hard!

They should ask themselves:  "What would it take for us to abandon this crusade and walk away from the constant attacks?"

Their answer is likely "when Tommy steps down" and THAT is the problem right there, answering this would be admittance that this has nothing to do with journalistic integrity and all personal BS.

Ugh, I feel like I need to take a shower after reading that "Q/A"...

Great post!

No need to worry about me and the negative energy though.  Been dealing with bullies my entire life and career... I FEED off it and it fuels me even more.  I definitely wouldn't be where I am today if not for bullies and hater trolls telling me I can't and I'm an idiot for trying.  You think this is bad?  You should have read some of the stuff folks were saying when we started the Electric Playground and Reviews On The Run/Judgment Day TV shows in the mid 90's!  "Who the hell would want to watch a TV show about video games??!" they declared.  Funny that 30 million people a day watch Twitch!  Or the hundreds of billions if not TRILLIONS of video game content views on YouTube.  We ended up winning a Telly Award and Emmy.  Same thing with Video Games Live.  "You're an IDIOT if you think gamers are going to go to see a symphony!".  3 Guinness World Records later (including longest running symphony tour and BIGGEST live symphony performance ever... over 752,000 people watching live!) all of the sudden I'm not as dumb as they said I was.

And now... "You're an IDIOT if you think that anyone is interested in playing simple, fun affordable games with their family and friends".

Same ol' same ol'.

:)

And yes... many times they insist and demand that I step down as CEO.  They even write e-mails and send letters to other people at the company!!  They are literally that blind to not understand how they are tearing themselves apart with their own negativity and how the success of Amico is going to make them even more miserable.  Sad when you think about it.

System platform development is hard, and the haters haven't played in that realm. By percentage, few have. I've worked on a few original platforms, which is uncommon. It's fun to make the new things. Hang in there Tommy, we're rooting for you at Spacebar Arcade in Boise. Go Amico!

Thanks for the kind words and support.

Spacebar Arcade!!   Sounds like a place I need to visit someday!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to hopefully meeting you there in person someday!

Sorry for the confusion.  I confuse myself sometimes.  Lol.

To half quote Dirty Harry:

Harry Callahan: I know what you're thinking. 'Did he fire six shots or only five'? Well to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I kind of lost track myself.

I don't know too much about the give-a-way stuff.  Others in the company have handled that from the start.  If anyone has any questions, please feel free to reach out to [email protected]

Thanks!  Wish I could give folks more info... I'm just not too familiar with any of the contest stuff.

The arcade is closed currently because of coronavirus regulations, but we'll be open again. C'mon by! We have a founders edition on order, and would at some point love to have an Amico store display on the floor because it'd be cool and also we wouldn't need to hold an ID for the controllers. It would sell consoles for Intellivision and drinks for Spacebar. That's a win and also a win.

I'm looking to set up an Amico game night in the future. Maybe monthly... ...I don't know. I hosted an Oregon Trail tournament and that was a lot of fun.

Let me know when you're in Boise and we'll hang out.

I can perhaps field this one, being a Canuck myself.

Canada is exempt from many contests originating internationally and in the US because we have rather convoluted bits of regulation concerning contests called the 'Canadian Sweepstakes Law'. Which rather then navigating these national specific regulations, most contests just prefer to bypass Canadian participation.

As well the 'Canadian Competition Act' states that 'Luck cannot be the sole deciding factor in winning' which is why contests run in Canada always have a 'You must correctly solve the math problem to claim your prize' addendum to winning.

Just to add the the fun, Quebec has its own additional sets of laws and regulations concerning contests. So if you want them to be included the contest must meet another additional level of Quebec provincial contest regulations.

So the short answer is most contests exempt Canadian participation because of the extra work involved.

I bet those letters are a great source of amusement around the company. I'd collect them all in an e-book for sale after the Amico is released and give the proceeds to some charity.

Clueless Communications from Clueless People: Rise of the Amico

or

"I Demand!": The Pointless Missives of Gaming Trolls vs Video Game Visionaries

or

... so easy to come up with titles ;-)

I really hope that’s not the case.  Kind of a large point for sending those golden ticket out

as it is, I don’t think the law forbids entry to Canadians or other countries just protects them from having to deal with the countries rules

anyway what’s a country?  Er Canadians are north AMERICANS and we have a free trade agreement in place right?  So that qualifies us  RIGHT?!?  And Tommy holds dual citizenship so he’s essentially a canadian RIGHT??????  Lol
